Story
Noelle has a story to tell, and you can see it in her eyes. She was carried into the shelter by an officer with a heart of gold and staff and volunteers were instantly captivated. She was found on the side of a road and had spent at least one night outside in below zero temps. She was underweight, thirsty, hungry, and in need of grooming. That night, her age was estimated at 8-10 years. A visit to the vet later corrected that age to around ONE!! (She's obviously been through some stuff!!) She's gained weight, confidence and personality. Her gaze latches on to her people, and you can FEEL when she is looking at you. She is so incredibly special! Visitors to the shelter are by appointment only and after a form has been submitted online: https://www.marshmallowfoundation.org/forms/

Story
Meet Briana! She's not just sweet and smart, she's also a pro at responding to a whistle. This potty-trained, crate-trained pup is ready to be your personal trainer or hiking buddy. Just be prepared for some interesting walks with her energetic personality! Although she knows the command "crate," Briana doesn't always want to do it. She's great with other dogs , but definitely not a fan of cats - she sees them more as chew toys! With a DNA test revealing she's a mix of Husky, Aussie, Border Collie, and Australian Cattle Dog, it's no surprise she loves to voice her opinions and chase/herd things. Don't worry about travel sickness - Briana can travel in a crate without any issues. She's fully vetted, heartworm negative, and on monthly prevention, so you can rest easy knowing she's healthy. Briana may be a bit wary of strangers, but she's a social butterfly who adores people. Are you ready to make unforgettable memories with this beautiful and affectionate pup? A Guide to Resource Guarding in Dogs."   Zarah is a beautiful husky who can't wait to meet you!   Foster Home Feedback  ** Resource Guarding 11/25/24 Foster Feedback: We have had Zarah for little more than a month now. I can tell you she rides well in the car. She is kennel trained and has not had any accidents in her kennel. Zarah will whine a little when you put her in the kennel if you don't leave the house or go and come back without letting her out. She has done well being out of her kennel at night.  When we keep her in the room with us, she will sleep on or right next to us.  She has also spent some nights in her kennel without issue.  We have had her on a couple of walks where she does ok, with a little leash pulling but not bad.  She just needs a bit more practice.  Zarah seems to be ok with the cat. She is a little curious at first.  By telling her no and redirecting her as more time goes, she is less excited when she sees the cat. Zarah is on a regular feeding schedule and is doing well.  She was a little skinny when we first got her but is looking good now. She does have a little resource guarding.  To help with that issue we have limited the number of toys that are out and keep the dogs separated while eating. Zarah can be a little timid around new people, but she warms up quickly. We are going to be giving her a bath and brush in the next couple days, as her coat is blowing out a bit from regular husky shedding. ** Zarah is anaplasmosis positive. This is a tick-borne illness, and she is currently being treated with Doxycycline.  ** To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org March 1, 2025, 10:01 pm

If you qualify and are interested in participating in this program, please fill out an application online and type "SENIOR" after your name.   Edgar is a sweet old man ready to settle down   Foster Home Feedback  1/26/2025 Foster Feedback: What can I say about Edgar- he is a great older dog. He is kennel-trained, but you will have to lure him in with a treat. Otherwise, he is not happy about being told to go in. The picture of him in the kennel was one of the times he let himself in and was waiting for dinner- so he will go into the kennel when he wants during the day. He gets along well with the other dogs and could go to a home with a cat. He is more interested in the cat's food than the cat itself. Edgar is very easygoing on a leash, wants to be where you are, and will sit with you and nap. He is left out at night and will sleep with you or next to the bed if he wants space. One thing to know is your bed will become his very quickly.  Edgar can often be found sleeping in bed during the day- most likely right in your spot with his head on the pillow. He hasn't had any accidents in the house, but he has marked a couple of things. One thing you need to watch with him is food- if he sees it, he will try and get a bite and will get into the cat food. He is a great senior dog looking for a place to be his forever home. &#226&#128&#139    ** Edgar is Lyme positive. This is a tick-borne illness, and he is currently being treated with Doxycycline.
