I am kennel trained and currently live in a household with a 7 year old labrador, two human teenagers and my foster parents. I love chasing after squirrels and rabbits in my backyard.  I also love lounging in the sun.  I am excited to meet new people – and have a habit of bopping you in the nose when I meet you.   I love humans, walking with them, playing outside with them, taking trips to norther Minnesota – where I can be on a tie out and explore new places.  I struggle to get to know new dogs.  I need time to become used to them either in pack walks or slow introductions where we get to sniff each other – not nose to nose. I am getting back into brewery tours and enjoy hanging out there with my humans and meeting new humans.  I am working hard on getting to calmy meet new dogs in that environment. If you are looking for a dog to live in your fenced yard home – I’m your dog.  If you have another dog in your home -we will want to meet each other a few times and make sure we get along.  Waichiwi is looking for a home that will provide her with the time and patience needed to help her build confidence with other dogs. Story
Hi, I’m Meg! I’m a Husky born 12/19/21. I have lots of energy and would benefit from regular walks and/or an active person or family. I do okay on a leash. I don’t pull a whole lot but could benefit from some leash training. I do well in a kennel but my current foster family lets me have full reign of the house with the other dogs. I live with two other dogs and do well with them, however, the puppy in my still gets excited and I’ve nipped a time or two. I also live with two cats. I’m curious about them but don’t make any attempts to hurt or chase them. I also live with an 8 year old human. I may not be good for a home with smaller children as I am a bigger dog and haven’t learned how to greet you without jumping on you yet. I know the word down and will get down after a big slobbery kiss hello. I enjoy car rides and make an amazing travel companion. I enjoy snuggles with my foster family and trying to be a lap dog even if I don’t always fit. I’m pretty well potty trained. I’ve had a few accidents in the house while adjusting to my new home, but my foster family is getting better at picking up my cues that I need to go outside. I am generally pretty quiet but I will bark to say hello when you come from work, when the kid opens his bedroom door in the morning and out the window at the neighbor in their own driveway (the nerve of them to use their own driveway and not even show me love). My barks may be too loud in an apartment setting. I have lots of love to give and can’t wait to meet you.  Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, rabies vaccination, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Distemper combo vaccines appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, heartworm and flea/tick preventative while in rescue. Story
Tyr is a male Siberian Husky born approximately 4/21/20 who recently came to us from a Reservation. He has a lot of energy and loves to play with our other dogs. Tyr also likes to spend time outside even when it is cold. Despite having the energy level of a young husky, he is also perfectly happy to curl up next to or on the lap of one of his favorite humans to watch a movie or two. Tyr ignores our cat most of the time. The cat can play and be naughty beside him, and Tyr leaves him alone. However, we noticed that Tyr can be selective when it comes to new dogs. Proper introduction is highly recommended. Another thing to note is Tyr can be food reactive. If there are other dogs or people nearby and he is eating, he may react.  Tyr treats his crate as a safe space and will go in willingly if the door is left open or for short periods of time for a time out, but he does not like to be left in the crate. He will hurt himself trying to get out of the crate if left for a long time. He will likewise pee in the crate. If we have to go on errands, we leave him in the house with our other dogs. We found out that being left by himself, despite not being in the crate, causes separation anxiety. He will try to get out of the house by chewing and clawing at doors and siding. He will also try to chew doorknobs. Sadly, the one incident of doorknob chewing damaged his canine and it had to be extracted. Tyr will need dental care to make sure his teeth do not get damaged further.  When it comes to feeding, we suspect that his previous owner fed him in his crate since he does not eat much from a dish left out in the open and seems to feel more secure eating in the crate. Tyr knows basic commands like sit and shake. He will tell you if needs to go potty.   Since Huskies tend to have a high energy level and separation anxiety, we think he would do best in a home where someone is around most of the time and is able to provide the physical and mental stimulation he needs. If not around most of the time, it will be better for Tyr to go to a home with another dog that he can bond with to ease his separation anxiety.  A home with a fenced-in yard will be the most ideal forever home for Tyr. He is an extremely talented escape artist and sees escaping as a game. He will not return even if you call out to him. Chasing him will make him run faster and further away.   As you can see from the pictures, he is a gorgeous black and white husky with one blue and one brown eye. He is also very fluffy and soft... perfect to cuddle with! If you think Tyr is the right dog for your family, please submit an application today!   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, dental, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX , flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $400 plus taxAbout Presley:  Housebroken Walks well on a leash Crate trained  Gets along great with other dogs Enjoys toys Food motivated for training Loves all people    She is great with other dogs and goes to doggie daycare several days a week. She quickly became a staff favorite.  When she hears the neighbors dogs, she runs around the yard looking to find a way to play with them too. Because of her social nature she will do best in a home with another dog or a family that will keep her social with other dogs regularly (dog park, play group, training, etc).  She adores all people, but especially kids, even the littlest ones (see videos).  She LOVES anything stuffed and squeaky!! She will entertain herself by tossing her favorite toys around for hours. Presley could use further work on basic training (sit, stay, recall) and is a very food motivated learner. Given some dedication to training she is sure to learn quickly!  Overall she is an amazing dog that will do excellent in a busy home that's looking to spend time outdoors whether it's playing, hiking, walks, going for a jog or visiting the dog park or a fun road trip - Presley is all-in for the family fun!! If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. //

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. This is Balto, one of Lulu's 10 puppies that were all saved from a SD Reservation. All dogs and puppies require supervision and training. Balto was adopted as a puppy and returned as an adult due to family changes.  Hi I'm Balto and I am looking for my forever home. I'm from a litter of 10 puppies and we all found our forever homes until mine didn't have time for a 'dog' anymore. So I ended up back at the rescue where I started. I'm in a foster home now and lucky to be with one of my sisters from my litter and I have a foster brother who is a Chihuahua mix and a foster sister who is younger and I ler her think she is the boss. I get along with all of them and love playing with my sisters but I am selective with all the animals in the home at times, so I would need to be an only pet in the home so I can have all of your attention. I can socialize outside the home with other dogs, I just don't like to share when I'm in my own place. I do love going to the dog park with all my friends. I have lots of puppy energy so I need a family that will help me learn and grow. I do know your basic commands sit, stay, lay, shake, down and no. I like playing with toys, stuffies, chew bones, balls playing tug with my sister & fetch with my foster parents. I do destroy stuffies so we might want to wait on them until I'm older or if you don't mind picking up my mess I can have them.  I love playing outside with my sisters (fenced in yard) and going for walks with the whole family. I have lots of energy to burn so I need to stay busy so I don't do any naughty things when I'm bored. (Chew toys are a must) I take naps after a good play or walk and I love to snuggle with my human and sometimes I think I'm a lap dog. I'm a good eater, drink lots of water and treats are good too but make me work for them so I don't forget my training. My foster parents tell me I'm a good boy when getting my treats & boy do I like that. I also like to relax and just sit in the yard / deck and watch the squirrels and birds. I'm okay by myself but would prefer my human to relax with me(snuggles). I also love to hold your hand with my paw when we're just chilling. I do great in the car and love going for rides and watching out the window. I'm good with meeting new people, I love the attention and I sit for kids and let them give me all the pets and belly rubs they want. When we go for our walks I do good when passing other people and dogs unless they want to meet me, then I sit and get all the pets I can. When at home I do get jealous if my foster brother or sister are getting attention so I like to push my way in and get the attention for myself I'm working on that. I'm also working on sharing toys and chew bones with my foster siblings, I like to have them all to myself but my foster parents tell me I am getting better at sharing them, I just need to be reminded at times. I'm still a young boy learning. We have cats in my foster home but I don't know how to react/play with them, I  just get so excited that I scare them; so at this time I cannot be around the cats. My foster parents think when I'm older I could maybe have a cat sibling. So at this time I am good with kids, a fenced in yard and no dogs in the home (play dates are fine) and no cats. So if you think you are my forever home and family and will continue to work with me let's meet. I'm ready for my forever family.  Balto is fully potty trained and will go to the door and bark/whine when he needs to go out. He also sleeps through the night anywhere from 8-12 hours depending on how much exercise he had the day before. He loves to sleep with his humans but will sleep on the floor, couch or dog bed if preferred. Please put in your application on our website mattysheartandsoulanimalrescue.rescuegroups.org.      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 13, 2024, 8:54 am

Story
Name: Yuki Sex: Female Color: Isabella White Eye Color: Brown Birthday: 11/15/20 Weight: 40 Large Dog Friendly: Yes, she does really well with all the dogs she meets at the dog park. At home she tends to get nervous with other dogs when they are too hyper or wild. Small Dog Friendly: Unknown Cat Friendly: No Crate Trained: At this time, no, as she is not used to being in a crate. Appears to have some separation anxiety and will need work to get crate trained. Housebroken: Yes Energy Level: She is typically very calm, but does get zoomies and likes to run around. She would do best in a home where she can relax, cuddle and get all the belly rubs! She also loves walks, and regular runs in a fenced in yard/area Reaction to New People: She is shy at first, but warms up quickly and loves pets. Needs to work on socialization with new people and situations Kid Friendly: Older and calmer would be best for her, as young kids and their noises and quick movements make her nervous. Training: She knows the basics, but could use some better leash manners as she likes to jump around and go all husky when asked to go potty. She needs socialization to learn some confidence in new/public situations. Like most huskies, she is a runner, so caution by the doors and getting in and out of the car is needed. Fence: Currently she goes out on a leash to go potty and then back in, as she does not appear to like the cold as much as a lot of huskies. She does respect the fence at a dog park, but at home would need to be on a tie out or supervised as she will dig under or try to climb out. Solo or Siblings: She would love to be the lone center of human attention, but could also like a sibling to play with, depending on the dog as she can be picky about her playmates and if they are too hyper she can be nervous. From the Foster: Yuki is a furry little princess that loves all the attention. She is overall pretty calm, but also has her husky zoomies. Since a small pup, she has always been a bit shy and hesitant in unknown situations/people and needs to build her confidence, but she does love to explore, and would benefit from socialization and group training class. Like a typical husky, she loves to run, climb, jump etc, so may also benefit from joring or agility classes. She is tolerant of baths, but is scared of water otherwise, and will tip-toe through wet grass. She loves attention and belly rubs, and will lay on her back and paw at you or reach out to you for more if you stop. She is an all around adventurous, loving, curious and goofy girl who needs a best friend to cuddle, experience life with, and to help her overcome her nervousness/fear of the world. Adoption Fee: $50 - Submit an adoption application during the month of December and upon approval Yuki will be available at the reduced adoption fee. All dogs coming into Adopt a Husky Minnesota receive care tailored to their needs, including: Nose-to-tail exam with a partner veterinarian, Vaccinations (Rabies, Distemper, Bordetella), 4DX test to check for heartworm or tick exposure, Fecal Analysis, Heartworm and Flea/Tick Preventative, Spay/Neuter prior to adoption, Microchip, and are evaluated for temperament and trainability.

Story
Name: Teddy Color: Red & White Eye Color: Blue Birthday: 09-24-2021 (estimated) Weight: 60 Large dog friendly: Yes, prefers females. Can be selective meeting dogs on leash. Small dog friendly: No Cat friendly: No, strong prey drive Crate trained: Yes, but does whine, pace and bark. He had a history of soiling his kennel too. We are using a prescribed medication (prosac) to help ease his anxiety and are seeing amazing results. It's an inexpensive med, costing just $8 for a sixty day supply. He has complete free roam of the house when home alone now. Has never been destructive. House-trained: Yes Energy level: Medium Reaction to new people: Friendly Kid friendly: Loves kids Training: Knows sit, paw, lay-down Normal husky coat which will require regular brushing. You should aim for once a week or so, and more when he is blowing his coat, typically twice a year. Fence: Strong tie-out recommended. He is an escape artist (can climb fences, and flip up gate latches) Solo or siblings: Requires a sibling, was adopted as a solo dog and was anxious, Just wasn't the right environment for him. From the foster: Need a snuggle buddy? Teddy is the one to keep you cozy at night and "aaaoooohhh" sweet nothings. Teddy gets along best with female dogs, and will take redirection well from dogs and humans. He tends to jump when greeting people and likes to counter surf. Teddy paces to let you know when he needs to go out. He enjoys walking nicely on the leash (not pulling too hard), followed by cuddles on the couch with his foster and the kids, nudging them for pets. Teddy does have some separation anxiety when home alone. Shared walls/apartment living would not be a good fit as he can be noisy at times, he is getting better and many times will go lay in his crate by choice when we are home. He recently started having free roam and has been doing really good! He is by far one of the sweetest and lovable huskies you'll ever meet. Adoption Fee: $50 - Submit an adoption application during the month of December and upon approval Teddy will be available at the reduced adoption fee.
