Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Volunteer fave in the house! Bram arrived at the shelter on Sept. 29th, after he went unclaimed at the city pound. He's a happy and energetic husky mix with icy blue eyes. We do think he's mixed with some type of herding breed. He's friendly and ready for action at all times. He's also very loving. His size is in the medium range and he's most likely 1 to 2 years old. He has been vet checked, neutered, and chipped. His fee is $150. We're hoping to find Bram a home that has some experience with husky types. They are notorious clowns who love to run! Bram does require basic obedience training and a lot of regular exercise to keep him settled. He loves to play and be with people. He has a tendency to be strong willed so he needs an experienced owner who is ready and willing to work with this. Cats are most likely a no for him. An adult only home would be best and a fenced yard would be perfection. He could do well with a well mannered dog of similar size. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application as been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. Keep an eye on your emails if you apply. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 20, 2025, 11:26 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Whitley is 1 of 8 puppies who were born at the city pound on Dec. 7th. They came to our shelter the very next day with their mom, who appears to be a husky/shepherd mix. The rest of their genetic makeup is a mystery and it's entirely possible that the litter was fathered by more than one dog. The pups look like they could be mixed with shepherd, lab, and maybe some pit bull. Whitley and her siblings will be ready for adoption after their 2nd vaccination and vet visit on Feb. 3rd. Their fee of $150 will cover all of their basic vet work - their 3rd puppy shot, rabies shot when old enough, and spay/neuter surgery when old enough. Puppies need a lot of patience and basic training in all areas. A potential adopter should be prepared for all of this. They need homes in which they won't be left alone for long hours. They should be okay with other dogs and are young enough to learn to interact nicely with cats. Older kids would be best as they are entering the crazy puppy stage - teeth, nails, and learning manners! Story
Are you the one? Please read my whole bio. Hey there, hoomans of the internet! My name is Pancho, and I would love more than anything to find my forever home. I'm looking for an experienced owner and a specific environment that fits my needs, but I just know that there is someone out there with a heart big enough to take a chance on me! My foster mom says that when I'm with the people I trust, in the safety of my home, I'm gentle, loving, goofy, well-behaved, a great listener, and the biggest snuggle bug. She's a little biased but she says I'm destined to be some lucky person's heart dog. Here's what my ideal home looks like: * Experienced Dog Owner Required: Someone who can read my body language, manage my interactions with other dogs and people, and who understands my quirks and can provide the structure I need. * Selective Dog Companions: I'm picky about the other dogs I interact with and I need a family who respects my boundaries. I can get along with some submissive dogs and I love, love, love puppies, but I resource guard around other dogs, and I don't back down from a confrontation, so I need owners who are attentive and responsible when I'm around other pups. * No young children: I require a home without young children. Tweens and teens are okay, as long as they respect my boundaries. * Fenced Yard Required: I am reactive towards other dogs when I'm walking on the leash, and I have that classic husky prey drive. Because of this, it's not always possible for me to get all the exercise I need through walks. I need a home with a fenced yard so that I can run and play and have zoomies to help get my energy out. * No Apartments: due to my reactivity towards other dogs, and distrust of strangers, I am not suited for an apartment. I know that I come with a lot of requirements for my new home, but for the right person, I promise I will be worth it!! Here's a bit more about me: * I've Got Skills! I'm potty trained and know lots of commands, and not just the basic boring ones! I love to learn and mom has taught me to roll-over, spin, weave between her legs, heel (as long as there isn't a squirrel around), "wait" for a treat that's in front of me, and more! I'm also crate-trained, but you don't need to crate me because I am a perfect gentleman and I can be trusted to free roam while my humans are away. I am left alone for 8-10 hours three days a week and I never get into trouble! * I'm Active: I love outdoor adventures like hikes, jogs, splashing in the water, and going for car rides. "Car" is my favorite word and I get so excited when I hear it! I'd be a great running partner, and I'm your perfect adventure buddy. I'm still working on my short-leash skills - it's really hard not to pull when the rabbits and squirrels in the neighborhood are taunting me! But I love when mom takes me out on my long line to go exploring and sniffvestigate to my heart's content. * I'm Playful and Goofy! When I'm around people I trust I am the biggest goofball and I love, love, LOVE to play with my stuffies! My favorite toy is my rainbow that has lots of little unicorns living inside. I love to take them out and have mom throw them for me. I don't rip my toys or destroy them, I just love to squeak them, toss them around, and snuggle them when I'm sleepy. I have a silly personality that never fails to make my hoomans laugh, and I will always make your day brighter with my hilarious antics! * I Love Kitties: I came from a home with many cats and I would love to have a kitty companion in my new home. I have been tested around several cats in my foster home and I've proven that I know how to be gentle and careful around kitties and give them the space they need. I also respect when they tell me to keep my distance with a whack to my nose ;) * I Have Guardian Instincts: I take my role as protector seriously, so I'm best suited for someone who values safety and wants a loyal companion. I would be a great companion for a woman who wants to go on solo walks, hikes, and/or runs and feel safe while doing so. * I'm Muzzle-trained: My muzzle is a great tool that helps keep me and any strange dogs or humans I interact with safe. I'm trained to go for long walks with my muzzle on, so I can go places where an off-leash dog might run up to me. Mom also uses my muzzle to introduce me to new people, as I get really nervous when strangers reach their hands towards me and sometime my fear gets the better of me and I snap at them. I warm up to most women right away, and while I'm more distrustful of men, with some extra time and patience I will come to love them too. I thought my foster grampaw was pretty sketchy when we first met, but now he's one of my favoritest hoomans ever! Once I've decided someone is my friend, I am completely trustworthy around them without my muzzle - the only threat is lots of slobbery kissies! To recap, I thrive with a slow introduction to new people and dogs. My ideal family will cherish my loving nature and help me maintain boundaries with strange dogs and humans and respect my need for a calm and structured environment. And of course provide me with lots of stuffies and a lap that is always open for cuddles! If you're an experienced dog owner who's ready for a loyal, goofy, and loving companion, let's meet! My foster mom says she would adopt me in a heartbeat, but then she wouldn't be able to help more dogs like me down the road. She wants you to know that taking a chance on a dog like me and putting the work in to make me feel at home is one of the most fulfilling things a pawrent can do, and if you take that chance it will change both our lives for the better! I've been waiting over a year for someone to see my potential...are you the one I've been looking for? Story
Meet Shadow: The Sweet and Snuggly Senior Husky! Shadow is a lovable, funny, and affectionate senior husky looking for his forever home to enjoy his golden years. This sweet guy is house and kennel trained, but he's earned the privilege of free roam in the house-and he's been doing absolutely fantastic! He gets along great with other dogs, including smaller ones, and loves spending time with kids. Shadow is a social butterfly who enjoys being part of the action. Whether it's lounging on a cozy, soft dog bed, playing with his favorite toys, or joining in on family activities, he's always ready to be involved! He LOVES car rides. Shadow has a playful side too-he's even serenaded us with a few of his own husky songs! He's also a fan of walks and fun adventures, although, with his extra fluff, his activity and snacks should be limited (though he might not agree). If you're looking for a typical husky with a hilarious personality, a love for cuddles, and a big heart to share, Shadow is the perfect companion for you. He deserves a loving home where he can spend his senior years surrounded by the love and comfort he's always dreamed of. Shadow loves being outside and seems to not want to poop when on a leash. He would love a fenced yard for outdoor time. He is not really an apartment dog. Adopt Shadow today and enjoy the warmth, humor, and joy that only a husky like him can bring! Apply to adopt at www.campcompanion.org Adoption fee is $300 plus tax.

Story
Holly is a sweet husky girl hoping for a second chance at a loving home. Holly was unfortunately in a horrible situation previously that necessitated her being removed from a very neglectful situation by law enforcement. Despite all she has been through, Holly is still a sweet and happy pup. We are still working on helping her gain some weight but otherwise she is doing very well. She LOVES to go on walks and hops around when she is excited. She walks on a leash very well and is very obedient. She has been great with our house cats but doesn’t really like other dogs. She would be best as an only dog for now. Holly is a very good tracker/hunter of small animals. She can track the path of rabbits and other small critters. She even points. Holly would definitely keep the yard free of pesky rodents or other small critters. She can be a little nervous around people until she knows they aren’t going to hurt her but as soon as she knows she is safe, she is the sweetest with both older kids and adults. Please consider adding this sweet girl to your home and giving her a second chance for a happily ever after!

Story
Meet Aspen, a spirited and loving 9-month-old husky mix ready to bring endless joy to her forever home! With her playful energy and affectionate nature, Aspen will quickly become your new best friend. She’s always on the go, whether it’s chasing after a toy, exploring her surroundings, or engaging in a game of fetch. Aspen is not only fun-loving but also incredibly smart! She’s making great progress with potty training and picks up new routines quickly. Though she’s full of energy most of the time, she also knows how to relax when it’s time to unwind—just give her a cozy spot to lounge, and she’ll happily chill by your side. Aspen is great with dogs, cats, and kids, making her the perfect fit for a multi-pet or family household. She is a puppy so is a little mouthy and jumpy which may be a bit much for little kids. While she’s not the biggest fan of her crate, she settles in after a few minutes and sleeps peacefully through the night. Her favorite activities include chewing on toys, playing with her humans, and spreading love wherever she goes. Apply to adopt at www.campcompanion.org Adoption fee is $300 plus tax

Story
Acorn is an adorable 11-month-old Pomeranian Husky mix, affectionately known as a Pomsky. Acorn`s journey began in a backyard breeding situation where his original owner couldn`t sell him, but now he`s ready to leave his past behind and find the loving home he deserves. This little guy can be a bit shy when meeting new people, but with patience and a gentle approach, he quickly warms up and shows his sweet and curious personality. Acorn would thrive in a home with another confident dog to help show him the ropes and bring out his playful side. Because he`s still young and learning about the world, obedience classes would be a fantastic opportunity for Acorn to build his confidence, learn new skills, and bond with his new family. He’s eager to find a family who will give him the love and guidance he needs to blossom. Are you ready to help Acorn grow into the confident, happy pup he’s meant to be? adoption fee $350 + $30 microchip fee + tax
