Harley is a beautiful and happy 8 year old Husky mix. She adapts easily to most environments and has done well around other dogs and meeting new people! She has not been tested around cats but does not seem to have high prey drive so would likely be ok. She is a food motivated people pleaser who loves kids of all ages. She is still quite energetic and playful but also enjoys a lazy Sunday watching the Chiefs on TV and snuggling up. She travels great in the car and is always up for new adventures. She even did great in the hotel with her foster parents on a road trip! Harley is a great exercise partner and loves long walks/runs. Harley is not overly needy but is the happiest when her people are nearby. Apply today to meet this great girl! Quill's adoption fee will be $175. link to application: https://form.jotform.com/230296113596155 PLEASE READ BIOGRAPHY BEFORE APPLYING Meet Quill, he is a 2-4 year old Husky/Akita Mix who came to us after spending most of his life on a chain. He has loved getting to live life to the fullest since coming to our rescue and enjoys his daily walks and runs and playing fetch in the yard with staff. Quill has warmed up well to the staff here at KC PAWS and has particularly bonded with the manager there, it is clear that once he is bonded and trust someone he is a friendly and affectionate dog. However due to his past he sometimes is weary of strangers approaching him. He is not the type of dog that would like being in large crowds or having strangers come up to pet him during walks. He will also need his potential adopter to be willing to do multiple visits with him before adoption. Quill has met a few female dogs that he has gotten along well with, however he does not like to interact with other male dogs especially if they are his size or larger. He would do best with a female dog around his size. He does need a home with no small dogs, or cats. He would not be an appropriate fit for a home with children as he does not like for people to be in his face leaning over him and children on his level would be frightening for him. Quill is a very active, high energy dog and LOVES to run. He would be an excellent match for someone looking for a running, hiking, adventure buddy. Quill is kennel trained and keeps his run at the shelter clean. He also loves to go for car rides. Quill needs an experienced dog owner who will be willing to really work on training and socializing. Please note that we do require dogs to meet all members of the family including existing pets in the home before finalizing during your in home adoption. Katmai is heartworm positive and looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home! She is 2 years old, spayed, 44 pounds, and up to date on all other vetting. Despite her past, Katmai is the sweetest girl on the planet that is full of love! Katmai was found living outside with her 6 puppies on the coldest day of the year! There were multiple reports saying she had been in the area for a while and that the 6 puppies were not her first litter. We quickly jumped to action to get them safe and warm and on their journey to furever homes. The puppies got all their required vetting and went off to their happily ever afters, but poor, sweet Katmai still has another obstacle to overcome in her heartworm treatment. Treating heartworms is a lengthy and expensive process and we are committed to helping her get rid of them! However, she would recover much faster in a home environment rather than our facility. She is sad and stressed in the shelter as she's not used to being cooped up around lots of other animals. She would love nothing more than to have a human to snuggle and adventure with. Oh, the blue eyes! This girl cannot be fooled. Blue Bell is smart and can be chill or full of spunk depending on her mood. But she is a people pleaser, for sure! She has learned to sit patiently until her food is served. She likes to play with her toys, but especially enjoys her foster sister's toys as that seems to pull her sister into playing with her. She knows exactly what to do to engage her playmate! While Blue loves to play, she also likes a calm environment and loves her routine. Blue is completely housetrained and super smart! She even rings a bell if she needs to be let outside. If Blue's foster family is leaving, she goes into the kennel on her own. She loves to have a chew toy around to keep her occupied. She is such a sweet girl. We affectionately call her Blue and she is a Beauty. She is sure to be someone's faithful companion. Can you love on her? She will love on you! I inquired Koda at 7 months, he will be 3 years old April 20th. He is a very energetic dog , he enjoys running, being outside, and the cold. We want him to go somewhere with a big yard, he loves going on walks and enjoys going on car rides! He is an indoor dog and kennel trained. I unfortunately can’t keep him due to having a new born. We noticed his behavior change being more jumpy and lunges towards the baby when she is playing or screaming. We have tried correcting him and haven’t had success. Unfortunately, she will be crawling soon and don’t want to risk anything.
