Meet Orca 🐾 Orca is a 7-month-old beagle/husky mix weighing about 35 pounds—and she’s truly cute as can be! Even at her young age, Orca has an impressively even temperament and a heart full of love. She adores everyone she meets, both dogs and people alike, and approaches the world with a friendly, happy-go-lucky attitude. This bright girl even enjoyed a successful sleep-over with a foster family, where she did wonderfully with the resident cats—proof of her adaptable and gentle nature. Orca has been shining in the Puppies for Parole program, where she’s working on house-training, crate-training, leash skills, overall manners, and basic obedience. She’s a star student who’s eager to learn and eager to please. Meet Bandit: Pending Foster/Adoption! Bandit is a 10-year-old female husky ready to find her forever home. (She is already spayed and microchipped and will be getting updated vaccinations soon.) Bandit is very much a scent pup. She can smell the moles in the yard and tries to dig them out. So far we would say that is about the only not awesome thing we can say about her. We'd love to see her in a foster-to-adopt home ASAP. Bandit came into the shelter with Gotham, a 7-year-old male Dalmatian (microchipped but needing neuter and vaccinations, which we'll get done for him soon!) FOSTER NEEDED for both! Our shelter is full and we can't take in any additional dogs, and our regular foster homes are full, too. We'd love to see Gotham in a home with someone familiar with the breed who would help us continue getting him to a healthy weight so he can live a long happy lifetime. Both of these dogs truly enjoy playing in the giant yard, and just enjoy life as it comes. They are KID AND CAT FRIENDLY, which makes them an even bigger catch! The Fort Leavenworth Stray Facility is open 11-4 MWF, but we recommend calling to make sure someone is there before visiting, especially if coming from off post.
