Story
Sid is a very smart dog and will "test" people to see what he can and can not get away with. He walks very well on a leash once he knows he is not allowed to jump. Sid is a very high energy boy who needs plenty of exercise to keep him from getting bored. Sid needs an adopter that is willing to continue working on training with him as he really enjoys it. SId will do best in an adult only home and would do best with a more submissive dog as he can be pushy with other dogs and if paired with another dominant dog we believe they would clash. When Sid has had the proper playtime for the day he is a very sweet boy. He is very food motivated, he wants to learn but needs an adopter that won't let him get away with being pushy.

Story
Zeus is in foster care and is not in the MHS building. If interested in adopting contact us at info@midlandshumanesociety.org or fill out the application at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/CBIA/Dog. Zeus is one active and fun-loving dog that will bring entertainment and silliness to any home. He loves to run to play frisbee and just all together play. He is very good with other dogs but is not recommended for a home with cats or small pets. He has been learning basic manners while in foster care and will do best with an adopter that will continue to make training a priority.

Story
Molly is a young Husky/American Pit Terrier/German Shepard mix, born November 2022.  Molly is very affectionate - she loves to cuddle and give kisses.  She is energetic and needs a home with a large yard and a 6 foot fence.  She knows some commands i.e. sit, down, focus (touch the bridge of your nose and she will focus on you) and went to training classes as a puppy.  Molly likes to be around her people and prefers to have another dog or cat around, although she likes to keep her toys for herself.  She also is not a fan of being kenneled.  An open door is an invitation for her to run out, so keep an eye on her when opening the front door.  The perfect home would have a dog of her size or bigger, adults that are steady on their feet because she can tends to jump and can be clumsy, and no young kids.  Molly will need someone who is experienced with handling an energetic dog and someone who will give her a refresher with potty training. The suggested adoption donation for Molly is $400.  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE.  We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life.  All donations go toward that mission.  Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals.  In 2021 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $307,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
Meet Esteban! Esteban is a charming Husky puppy (b. 9/1/23) who is looking for a loving forever home with a family that can appreciate his strengths and help him work on a few areas where he could use some guidance. He's crate-trained and gets along well with other dogs, although he's a bit cautious around smaller ones. Cats are also a mystery to him at this point. This active boy loves children aged 6+ and is a total kisser once he feels comfortable! While he's a bit shy at first with new people and high-energy kiddos, patience and a gradual introduction will help him feel at ease. Esteban is a bundle of energy and enjoys running around in a fenced yard, so an active household that can keep up with his Husky spirit would be ideal. One thing he is still working on is his enthusiasm for exploration of the outdoors as he is known to bolt out the door if given the opportunity. However, he is making significant progress with potty training and learning not to jump up when excited. Esteban is vocal about his needs, especially when he needs to go outside. If you're an experienced Husky owner or someone willing to commit to an active lifestyle with plenty of love and patience, Esteban could be the perfect addition to your family. Come meet him and see if you're the family he's been waiting for. Adopting Esteban means embracing all the joy and adventure that comes with having a Husky companion! The suggested adoption donation for Esteban is $415, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Alter Agreement: If the dog or cat you adopt is older than 6 months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital or Omaha Animal Medical Group in Omaha, at no cost to you. Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $100 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost. If the dog or cat is younger than 6 months of age, the adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice. If proof of alter if received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $100 for dogs, and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses. All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age. All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized. Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster.
