Story
Blanco is a very happy guy; he loves to run and play and resembles a horse, especially as his long legs give him a ground covering stride. He equally loves to snuggle and truly believes he is a lap dog. He loves to lay across your lap and squirm around like a toddler. He doesn't like to be "patted" as that seems a bit fear inducing to him, but he likes to be petted in other ways. Blanco needs an experienced owner who won’t let him get away with being pushy when he wants something. Seriously, personal boundaries are not his forte. Do we hear people say: “Duh, he is a husky!”? Consequently, he jumps on people and gets a little nippy when he first meets them or when he gets excited but he settles back down pretty quickly, at least with adults. We haven’t seen him with medium or young children but he would probably get too rambunctious with them as he jumps on big kids. Blanco enjoys playing in the backyard as long as someone is with him. If that person goes inside, he scales the 4 or so foot fence or opens the gate. Luckily, he comes running as soon as called since he isn’t trying to run off but to get back with his people. He will need a tall fence to keep him contained. He does well to sit and will play fetch. Blanco does great in a 6’ tall chain-link pen in a climate-controlled garage with Coco and rarely has accidents. He goes right in when his foster mom opens the door. Surprisingly he hasn't torn up his bed or any toys. In fact, his foster mom hasn’t seen any destructive behavior. He tolerates a bath and enjoys being brushed – and regular brushing is needed! He doesn’t resource guard, but he will push other dogs away from “his” person and can be kind of rude about it. Fireworks and loud noises don't bother him. Blanco has been good with dogs in some situations and not others. He seems okay meeting new dogs but once they start to share space and he bonds to people he is less amenable, especially if his “backup”, Coco is with him. There is a dynamic between them that can be problematic, especially when they gang up, and they will probably do best if adopted into separate homes. Skills and sociability with cats - saw the family cat through the window and didn't care. Skills and sociability with other animals - not tested. Takes to one person mostly or the whole family? So far, mostly takes to his foster mom. Leash walking - does ok. Off leash - does well. In car - does great. In public places - does ok. Responding when called – great. Barking/howling/talking - high pitched bark when he's ready to be let out or he sees another dog in his territory. Crate and kennel trained – yes. Door dashing, runs off – sometimes. Stealing food from kids/counter surfing – no. Ok in apartment? - yes, if he gets to go out enough. Blanco is approximately 1 year old as of June, 2023 and probably a Siberian husky mix. He arrived with Coqueta (Coco) from California on June 10. They were surrendered from the same household to a shelter there. If you're interested in Blanco, please fill out the pre-adoption application on Linktr.ee/northernstardogrescue

Story
Grüner/Rippy has the most mushy personality you can imagine. If he had a car it would be covered with stickers like “Make love, not war”, “To know me is to love me”, “Give peace a chance”….and maybe “I can’t believe I ate the whole thing”. He is soft without being anxious. He is very easy to manage and generally easy to live with and he only keeps getting better as he matures. Grüner/Rippy frequently goes with his foster mom to places that serve food and/or beverages and allow dogs. Grüner/Rippy is great with other dogs. He is respectful and very good when meeting new dogs. At the dog park he was described by someone as the gentlest, calmest husky mix they had met in a long time. He loves to meet up with his buddies for play dates or have another fairly playful dog in the home. Toys are a must for this youngster; he loves having things to carry around and/or chew on. He will play fetch now and again. Grüner/Rippy is surprisingly good at not pulling on leash when out for walks. He has no problem walking on the Greenbelt or other place where he has to pass runners, scooters, other dogs etc. Most of the time he does fine when hiking off leash with his foster family and stays with the pack though he still shows a bit of the husky independence regarding coming when called. He rides well in a car. He has lived with cats just fine. Grüner/Rippy was one of the litter we named The Winos that we took in a little over a year ago. His adopters called him Rip which we have tweaked. Due to unforeseen circumstances the family had to rehome him. They had children and another dog and he was great with them all. He was born June 23, 2022. He has Siberian husky, Alaskan malamute, German shepherd and more according to his siblings’ DNA tests. Grüner/Rippy’s Achilles heel is being home alone though he has done great on his training of this and now does quite well. He would do great for someone working from home as he just lies around. He seems to benefit from having a furry friend when home alone. He is crate trained but gets claustrophobic when locked in it by himself. He does however happily sleep in a crate at night whether it is open or closed. While Rippy is a young dog that needs regular activity he doesn’t need all that much exercise. Hi everyone! It is me Peanut! I have been kicking around here with the Moonsong crew for a few months now and just wanted to reintroduce myself! It is fall now after all, and I would love to find myself a dream family who is ready to share in all their adventures. As you can see, I am a very handsome male husky/malamute mix who is eager to please and just need someone to show me the ropes. I am only about three years old and am your typical bouncy boy who loves to play. I do know basic commands but could really use some consistent training efforts to help challenge my mental abilities and help me excel. I get along with most dogs who are similar in size but do need proper introductions and supervision with those who are little more dominant. Oh, and in case you were wondering, I would do best in a home with a secure yard, a family who is active and of course able to provide me with all the snuggles I deserve. If you are interested in fostering or even better, adopting me please fill out an application or contact my person for more information. I promise I will bring a world of happiness that is beyond your wildest expectation! And remember PEANUT ROCKS! Available to Adopters in Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Utah & Northern Nevada.

Story
Greetings! My name is Everest. I am a gorgeous 2-year-old female husky, waiting patiently for the perfect home to come along. I am a typical northern breed teenager; I need plenty of exercise to keep me from getting bored. At my first home, I figured out how to dig out of the yard, so it’s probably safe to say I might try that again no matter where I go. But maybe not, since I love the attention of my people! In my new foster home, I’ve been playing with several dogs of all sizes and we have so much fun! I would love a home with another confident dog. Since I lived with the same people all of my life up until now, I am a little hesitant about new people. But I am learning to trust and am happy to follow my foster family around. I have learned to love my crate for my quiet time. I also might be good with cats! I stayed for a short time with a family who had 5 cats. They were wise to dogs like me and we just had fun and got along great. I suppose it depends on if the cat is used to big dogs. I love to cuddle, and am thankful for any time spent with people. I’m good with children as long as they are respectful, so older kids would be a better option for me. Ok, one small downside to my personality… I pull when I’m on leash. I am a husky after all. But with some proper training (I am smart!) I could learn to put that energy to good use. Please reach out to Moonsong and make arrangements to meet me. Isn’t Everest the name of the tallest mountain? Well, sing along with me: “Ain’t no mountain high enough to keep me away from wooooooo!”

Story
Kodiak here to tell you the story of how Moonsong was lucky enough to bring me into rescue. I was picked up as a stray in eastern Idaho and the shelter employees loved me but during my month at the shelter, when people came to find their fur friend, no one paid any attention to me and the clock was ticking, so the shelter reach out to Moonsong and here I am! Boy are they lucky to have me! I am a playful young male that gets along with all dogs! Yes, you read that right. I’ve never met a stranger and quickly learn to adapt to fur friends (with a little guidance). My foster mom says, I’m a gentle boy, that loves pets and snuggling; attention is my favorite thing! I might try to push my fur friends out of the way to get all the attention. Like most huskies, I know how to use my words (yah, I’m a vocal husky). I’m very playful and would love a home with a similar sized friend or I would be okay being an only dog. I do well in my crate, am potty trained, don’t jump on people and have been around kids 8 years and older and LOVED them! Other things I like, being brushed and helping fill water bowls! I’m working on my leash skills and basic obedience. I love treats and pets for my rewards, so training is a breeze! Reach out to my person for more information.

Story
Hey there, my name is Seth! I am a 2-year-old husky that has not been able to connect with the right forever family. So….. I am now with Moonsong and I know they are going to do everything they can to change my star-crossed luck, to Lucky Stars! I would do best in a home as the only dog as I thrive with hoooman attention and don’t want to share my peeps. I can be dog selective as far as making new fur friends so slow and careful introductions to set me up for success. Cats, small animals and livestock are a no no for me as I have a bit of a prey drive. In a previous home I did well with respectful children, so perhaps age 8 and above would be perfect. I greet people with curious interest and then woohoo it’s time to get acquainted! I overheard someone say I’m a real gem when it comes to people. I’m told I have the most handsome and shiny coat ever seen and I hardly shed and look like I got bathed every day. I’m a really healthy and very fit fellow. If you tell me “car rides” I’ll be your best pal. I’m so well behaved going for rides. I love to walk and hike and watch me take a big snooze when we get back home. I know how to open latches and will try to dig under a fence if bored so I will need a husky secure fence and area so I don’t go on a ‘naughty boy’ walkabout. I’m highly intelligent and would love to learn tricks and new things. I would really love to finally find the perfect home, where I know I will be loved for the rest of my life. Are you the one? Let’s work out the details!! Available for Adoption in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho & northern Nevada.

Story
Good day folks! Arrow here. Just like my name, I aim to be pointed in the direction of my furever home. I came in as a stray and Moonsong rescued me in the nick of time. As you can see, I am one big handsome dude! My personality has been revealing that I am a cautious sweet boy who just needs someone to help show me the ropes. Slow introductions to hoomanes is a must. It helps me get to know you on my terms. There is no doubt that If you’re calm and patient with me, I will eventually become your best furry friend. Lately, I have been learning leash walking skills. I thoroughly enjoy my walk-about’s and I am good about not pulling. I even passed by some chickens without even missing a beat! One thing that really motivates me is treats! I will sit nicely and even take the treat with a soft mouth. It may be that in my previous life, I didn’t get a lot of exposure being around other pups. Big male dogs are a bit intimidating to me. Although I am learning that the ladies can be my friends. A large, friendly, confident female would suit me best. Or, being the only doggo in the home would work well for me too. My dream home would be having hoomanes committed to helping me flourish to my true potential and help me find out that the big o’l world out there is safe place. Story
If you’re looking for a sweet cuddle bug, then look no further. I’m a young relaxed Mal Husky mix that is cool as a cucumber. I was a long time resident at the shelter and running out of time. Thankfully, folks realized what a gem I was and freedom became my reality. For now, I will be biding my time in a wonderful foster home while I await my furever home. Here’s the scoop – small dogs and wee critters are not my thing. But, playing with my husky bro and sis definitely are. And get this, I am exceptionally chill in the car and I love boat rides! That’s right people, you heard me. I thoroughly enjoy cruising on the water and I’ll make a mighty fine chilled first mate on any boat. My unique qualities don’t end there. I even enjoy playing fetch! They tell me I’m exceptionally engaged and in tune with my hoomanes. In other words, I’m perceptive, clever and quick to learn verbal commands. If you happen to have kiddos, I can be good with them as long as they are respectful of me. I am envisioning an active, fun loving home. Just think of all the wonderful adventures we could have together! I’m pretty much a turnkey pup. So make a run for it and contact my person for more information. Or better yet, fill out the online application. I will be waiting for woo! Available for Adoption in Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Utah & Northern Nevada.

Story
Hello, my name is Fenris! I am a 3-year-old male Malamute that is looking for a loving forever home. I get on well with most other dogs (with the exception of toy breeds and those creatures called cats, as I’ve no experience with them), and have lived with another dog in the past. I don’t kick up a fuss when others are around my toys or food, as long as they are polite about it. I love sticks, balls, chew toys, treats (which I take nicely), and games. I adore people, and like attention from them. I could be very happy living in a home that has children over the age of eight. I would love to be in a home that had someone there most of the day, as I tend to get lonely and have been known to try and escape my yard if left alone out there too long. I am very happy to go on rides or hikes, but want no part of water, even from sprinklers, or thunderstorms. I don’t mind being brushed and have some basic leash skills (I do tend to pull a bit when we first go out). I have also been started on something called obedience training, but I don’t know much about house-training yet. I am very smart and willing and will pick up anything I need to know in my new home very quickly. Overall I am just a sweet, loving, happy boy who needs my forever people to swoop in and make all my dreams come true. Is that you?
