Story
Beautiful husky girl Chiquita, born April 2023, is looking for a home. She is approximately 41 lbs. Her mum and littermates were often seen wandering in the area of the SPCA PV sanctuary and staff and volunteers saw them in deteriorating condition due to a diet heavy on garbage and took them in to give them the care they needed. After she got refuge in the sanctuary, she lived through a hurricane which heavily damaged the shelter, and she had temporary refuge in a home that unfortunately had a landlord that didn't allow dogs.. but in that time, she learned what a home is and what it is meant to be loved. Chiquita is an energetic girl so she’d love a yard with some space to burn off some zoomies but was in a foster home in an apartment. She loves the beach. Her foster mom just loved her, described her as a fast learner, and a great cuddler. She has learned basic commands - sit, come, waits to eat her food. She isn't destructive in the home and did well in the car. She is selective with other dogs, and can be reactive, and would squabble with her siblings. Kids make her nervous so she'd prefer a quiet adult home where she can learn more about the world. Chiquita would be best in a home without cats as she shows high prey drive. Sally is currently one of EHS's longest residents and would love to find her new family soon! To help, her adoption fee has been partially sponsored by generous donors. Sally also receives a free 6 week class/private consult here at the Edmonton Humane Society with her adoption!EHS volunteer comment: "Sally is the sweetest pup. She's the total package. She's not only beautiful but also incredibly smart and very eager to learn. She already knows a multitude of tricks and will happily show them off for a snack. She walks well on the leash and loves to explore and watch the birds. She will make a wonderful addition to any dog loving family and I don't doubt she'd love to explore the world right along side them! Sally enjoyed spending time on the trail and would happily accept a snuggle anytime it was offered. Her new family doesn't know it yet, but they're going to be so lucky to have chosen Sally!"This energetic gal is looking someone who can keep up with her playful spirit and help her learn some manners along the way. Sally's favourite thing in the word? Playing with other dogs! She thrives with a canine companion and will need a dog sibling in the home to help provide an outlet for her energy and keep her engaged. She's food-motivated and eager to learn, making her a great candidate for training classes to build her skills. Sally loves going for walks, playing to her heart's content, and especially enjoys squeaky toys! She's already housetrained and knows sit, down, and shake-she just needs a family ready to guide her as she continues to grow.
