Story
Meet Clover – From Stray to Beloved Companion   Clover is a one-year-old, 35-pound Siberian Husky mix with an abundance of puppy energy and an even bigger heart. This affectionate boy adores cuddles and is always ready for love! He gets along well with other dogs and is currently thriving in a foster home with large-breed dogs and cats of various ages. While he does live with cats, he has a prey drive, so he does best with confident, playful kittens rather than older, reserved cats—the more outgoing the cat, the better their relationship, as it helps limit chasing behavior. My journey with Clover began when I found myself wrapped up in saving a husky puppy on a busy street. I discovered him dashing through traffic and immediately stopped to help. Determined to find his owner, I went door-to-door in the area and spoke with local workers like the pest control technician and the mail carrier. They recalled seeing him tied to a rope every day and mentioned that he appeared to be mistreated. I followed their lead and located a man claiming to be his owner—but he had no paperwork, photos, or records to prove it. Not wanting to risk any legal trouble, I reluctantly returned Clover to him. The very next day, Clover got loose again. A friend, who had just moved into the neighborhood on the day I rescued him, found him and took him back to the owner’s house. Despite her numerous calls and visits, the owner never responded—his gate remained closed, adorned with clear no-trespassing signs. I reached out again via text, asking the supposed owner to surrender Clover so I could retrieve him without an arduous drive. With no records, no microchip, and not even neutered, his future was uncertain. I even contacted the local shelter, which sadly has a euthanasia list, meaning that if I brought him in, he might face being put to sleep. After days without a response, it became clear that Clover was meant for a better life. We later learned he had been seen roaming since Valentine’s Day—and, lucky enough to have escaped danger, we named him Clover. Safe in foster care for nearly one year now, we expected this cutie would be adopted quickly. Clover comes with his AirTag and a special collar that holds it securely, along with all his favorite toys he simply cannot live without. He’s flourishing in his current home, where he’s already house-trained, crate-trained, and enjoying every moment of his second chance at life. He’s fantastic with children, responds well to treat-based training, and loves a good car ride or a brisk walk on a leash. Clover thrives on interaction and would do best in a home with an active family that can provide him with a secure, fenced-in yard (minimum 6 feet) and plenty of opportunities for play and exercise. Puppy classes would be a great addition, and another large, playful dog might be an ideal companion for him. If you’re in the Central Florida/Orlando area and believe your family is the perfect match for Clover, please consider adopting him. To help cover his neutering and vaccinations, donations toward his care are also greatly appreciated.
