Story
Audrey (A136128) is an 8-year-old AK Husky who weighed 41.5 pounds on intake!10/02/24 This sweet little lady is Audrey! Audrey is looking for her perfect new place to call home and she hopes that it might be with you! She was described as outgoing, friendly, and affectionate! Audrey has a history of doing well with babies, children, and adults. She can be a little anxious when it comes to meeting new people. Audrey was said to be excitable around dogs and curious of cats, pocket pets, and livestock. Please ensure you are making appropriate introductions with all new potential friends. She was said to be kennel-trained and housebroken. She was also said to know the commands sit and wait but does not always listen the best. In typical husky fashion, she can be vocal at times and was known to chew. She is looking for a home that can keep her both mentally and physically stimulated. Story
Kenai (A125943) is a 6-year-old Siberian husky who weighed nearly 50 lbs at intake!10/26/24 Kenai, previously known as Osmond, arrived back at the shelter as a stray after his most recent owner fell on hard times and had to entrust him to some friends that did not keep him secure. Kenai has change quite a bit since he was last at the shelter. He has really embraced the pet dog life and has mellowed out some. He also seems to have mastered the art of potty training! Although we say Kenai has mellowed out, that is not saying much compared to how energetic this boy was 2 years ago! He still has lots of spunk in him, and he likes to tell you all about it. If you are interested in meeting this handsome guy, please give us a call!02/25/22 This crazy boy is Osmond. He is very friendly and loves to jump up and say hi! Osmond has a lot of energy and can be very strong. He came in with a larger group of huskies that have only lived outside and are most likely not housebroken, so potential owners should keep this in mind if intending to make any of them pet dogs, as they will need to focus on potty training and indoor manners. Although they were raised as sled dogs, their mushing history and line behavior is unknown. Huskies are a high energy breed that will require an outlet such as skijoring, canicross, or a big yard to play in! It is unknown how any of these dogs will do with smaller animals, such as cats or pocket pets. However, huskies tend to have a high prey drive, so extreme caution should be used when introducing them to such animals. Osmond has been selective about his neighbors in the dog yard and may prefer females to males. He barks excessively at male dogs. We recommend introducing him to any new doggy companions in a well controlled environment. Due to his high energy and lack of manners, we are requiring Osmond go to a home without children under 5 if being considered for a pet home. Osmond is said to walk quite well on leash! If you are interested in meeting Osmond, or any of his husky friends, please give the shelter a call!October 31, 2024, 11:10 pm

Story
Sam (A135789) is a 9-month-old husky mix who weighed 48.3 pounds on intake!11/05/24 Sam, previously known as Manny, is back at the shelter and eager to find his new family to love! Sam was surrendered back to the shelter because the older cat in the home was not adjusting well to sharing space with Sam. He was said to do wonderfully with the cats in the home and also does great with dogs! Sam was said to be shy around strangers and may bark initially. He loves children but was not always aware of his body around the toddler in the home. He might do best in a home without small children to avoid accidental knock overs. Sam was said to be kennel-trained and housebroken (will go to the door). For kenneling his owner was giving him treats to go in and he was said to have done great! Sam also knows the command sit but would still benefit from attending a basic obedience class. He is still very much a pup and eager to learn! Sam also was said to enjoy chewing on toys! If you are interested in meeting Sam, please let us know! 09/06/24 These four young'uns are Levi, Tiny, Bea and Manny! These pups were left at the shelter without very much information after their previous owner ran into housing issues. Each of these pups has been very outgoing with people while at the shelter. They have been slightly intimidated by the other, bigger dogs in the kennels, but their previous owner said they did well with other dogs when introduced properly. Their previous owner also recommended slow intros to strangers, but none of these pups has ever been around children or other animals. Please keep this in mind if planning to introduce them to any. They were described as being outgoing, friendly, affectionate and sometimes shy. They were said to ride well in the car, but they can be rough when playing and tend to jump on people. These young ones did not arrive at the shelter in the best condition, so they may not be used to being indoor dogs. They are looking for patient homes that will help them learn to be housebroken and kennel trained. Enrolling them in a basic obedience class with a certified trainer would be a great way to help them learn some basic manners! If you are interested in any of these beautiful pups, please give us a call!November 5, 2024, 9:57 pm
