Story
This brother and sister pair were found left at an abandoned property. They were emaciated and scared, but neighbors were able to make friends and now the pups are in a temporary foster home. Emma only weighs about 18 pounds right now. She's had her first vaccine, she's been dewormed and she's had flea treatment. We'd like to find a foster to adopt home for her to go to while she gets the rest of her vetting done. She's a playful affectionate girl! Nervous around other dogs, but that's common with dogs who were left in the country to fend for themselves. The farm dogs and coyotes can be mean and the stray dogs learn to be tough to scare off the other animals. Once she has had time to acclimate she's dog friendly. At Autumn Acres Animal Rescue we believe each individual animal matters. We take in special cases some of which will stay with us as a sanctuary dog.If the animal is listed as a Socially Imperfect Dog this means they have special needs and special requirements for potential adopters. If the animal is listed as a Socially Imperfect RESIDENT this animal is NOT available for adoption and is one of our sanctuary residents. We list them on our sites because they still matter and they still need donations to help with their long term care.Check out our website for more information: http://www.autumnacres.org

Story
"I may be a senior pup, but I like to think of myself as a senior in high school—60 pounds, so handsome and young-looking! I have the softest brown eyes and best ears, especially when I’m trying to figure out a new sound. After 10 years, I’m just learning how to be a dog, but I think I’ve got the hang of it now! Toys and bones have become some of my favorite things along with lots of love. I know how to play fetch with my plush toys…but I’m only good for about 10min (true greyhound fashion!) I nap most of the day but if you say “Walk!”, I’m your guy and get so excited to go exploring! I don’t mind 1-2 miles, piece of cake. Speaking of treats, yes please!! I’m extra gentle when you give me one. Since I came to KC REGAP, I’ve learned that humans are actually really nice and now I love to meet new people; I get so excited!    I'm a special needs guy looking for experienced dog owners who will pick up on my verbal and visual cues. Lucky for me being in a foster home since coming to KC REGAP, I’ve learned my human’s verbal cues as well. I am not sure about other dogs along the sidewalk, and I definitely don’t do well with small dogs or cats. My foster mom says I would do best with a privacy fence and as an only dog! In the backyard, you won’t find me doing zoomies just yet; I haven’t quite figured that out. However, I have discovered my voice and love to let you hear it when I get excited or am ready to play!   My ideal household would be one with older human siblings (teenage+) or adults. Patience is key with me as I learn to trust you; but I will lean in real hard (almost knocking you over) as I show you lots of love and attention!" Story
Hi there, I’m Kip, your future best friend! I am a happy-go-lucky guy who gets along great with my foster dog brothers and have gotten a pretty good hang of doing the potty thing outside. I am a pro at keeping the yard safe – no squirrel or bird is getting past me without a very serious chase (I’m fast, don’t underestimate me)! When I’m not patrolling the perimeter, you’ll find me following you around like a little shadow, just hoping for some human love. I’m very into pets, belly rubs and the occasional zoomies to let off all that excitement. I enjoy going for walks, but when it’s time to relax, I’m laid-back and totally chill. I will pretty much sleep on anything, but don’t be surprised if I sneak into your bed for some cozy snuggles— I’m just living my best life. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, happy companion, who will make you laugh and keep you on your toes with my squirrel – chasing antics, I might just be your guy! Story
I just love to give kisses and love to my humans and follow my foster mom around the house like a shadow.   I’m very easy going and hardly ever bark.  I get excited when I see squirrels and I will try very diligently to keep them out of your backyard!  I am smart, too! I have picked up fast on how to only go outside to do my business and am going up and down the stairs like a pro.  I get along well with my foster siblings I have two other greyhounds and two cats in my home right now and everyone gets along great.  I let my mom dress me up in teeshirts and coats and check my feet.   I’m basically your perfect greyhound girl!  I do need a fur sibling.  We adopt within 1 1/2 hours from Kansas City.January 21, 2025, 3:45 pm

Story
Bindi is a sweet, playful girl who may be a bit shy at first but once she's comfortable her playful, zoom side will come out.  She is 2 years old, petite, with a brindle body and white chest.  I don't think there is anyone who she views as a stranger, after about 5 minutes, she loves to talk and rides great in the car, plays well with other dogs and is also cat safe (while a little curious at first).  She lives with cats and two other dogs at her foster Mom's house.  She doesn’t want to miss out on any attention and loving and will roll over for belly rubs. Bindi is fine with other dogs and cats as well.  She needs a fur sibling.   We adopt within 1 1/2 hours of Kansas City.  January 13, 2025, 1:46 pm

Story
Brisbane it's a very handsome sweet 4-year-old boy. He is very laid back. Has a beautiful blue fawn brindle coat. Him and some other grays have come a long way to find their forever homes!!! (Hence his name the capital of Queensland in Australia.) He is enjoying getting used to the surroundings in his foster home. Learning fast can go up and down stairs in and outside. Has had No accidents in the house. He does well in the car for rides.   He is starting to play with toys,  really liking the squeaky ones. Also enjoys collect things to bring to his bed.  Run around the backyard love going on walks and does wonderful on the leash!! Taking in all the new sights and smells!   If he is not laying in a soft bed for a long naps. Brisbane is up watching and following some one around the house. With those very expressive ears! Everything is new and exciting and so interesting to him. He loves to be loved on and will stand next to you quietly, so you can give that much needed love. Brisbane is wondering if you could be the forever family he is waiting for! Hope to have more soon on this great boy, as we get to know him more!  He will need a fur sibling.   We adopt within 1 1/2 hours from Kansas CityJanuary 13, 2025, 1:46 pm
