Story
Willow's caught in limbo between wanting to be a pet and wanting to be a pyrenees. She's very shy but also really wants human affection.  She gets along perfectly with many kinds of other dogs and has lived with a chihuahua, border collie, and pittie. She was even friendly with visiting dogs. She prefers her dog house outside, but allows her caretakers to crawls in to leash or brush her daily.  Willow w ould make a beautiful companion with minimal security measures in place. A roofed enclosure, maybe a canine companion, leash walks, and some understanding of this beautiful breed. Willow can easily clear a 6' fence. However, she never went beyond her property, and has a good recall even at long distance. She w alks sweetly on leash. Seems to really want affection and it's likely she didn't get much of it in her previous life. She'll kennel happily on command into her enclosure, makes a wonderful watchdog, and there's not a mean bone in her body. Thank you for considering adopting a Rescue Ranch dog. While they are with us, each and every rescue dog receives the best of care in a loving and nurturing environment. Their routines include daily playgroups or partnering with dog buddies, quality time walking or being groomed, and two meals a day with dog biscuits for dessert.  All of our dogs receive the best in veterinary care and are spay/neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and fully vaccinated.  The standard adoption donation fee for all dogs and puppies is $300 (unless a reduced fee applies )  APPLY NOW       December 16, 2024, 6:02 pm

Story
Meet Lexi! It's hard to miss this extra-large girl with her friendly personality and fluffy coat! She loves people of all shapes, sizes, and ages! Lexi hasn't met a person she doesn't like and even knows how to be gentle with young kids. She once met a young boy who was the same height as her and she gently put her head over his shoulder and gave him a big hug! Lexi would be the perfect family dog for those who live out on a good-sized property. Though she is a gentle and slow-going girl, she is still quite large and needs a good amount of space!  Lexi knows good house manners and a few basic commands such as 'Sit', 'No', and how to pause at a threshold until you give her the command 'Ok Go'. She is even great on a leash! She prefers to walk a bit ahead but she is attentive and conscious about matching her speed to yours so if she ever pulls, it is rare. Being the Pyrenees that she is, Lexi can be mildly stubborn and isn't super interested in learning any overly complicated tasks but with the right treats, you might be able to teach her some fun little tricks such as carrying your groceries!  While Lexi gets along well with most other dogs and cats, we recommend she goes to a home as an only pet or to a home that is very comfortable handling and training extra-large dogs. She has done well here at the shelter with some doggy pals but in a home, she prefers being her human's main focus. Could you give this big, beautiful girl the amazing home she deserves? Call Rescue Ranch to meet Lexi today! Thank you for considering adopting a Rescue Ranch dog. Rescue Ranch puppies are raised through our puppy foster program. They will have met adults, children, often other dogs, maybe cats. 16-week or older puppies will have taken part in our "Reading to Rescue Pups" program and attended many events. When they are at least 8 weeks old, puppies are given a wellness exam by a licensed veterinarian.  Before going home, all puppies will have been dewormed and received all age-appropriate vaccinations for parvo/distemper, and Bordetella. If they are 4 months or older they will also have their rabies vaccination. All p uppies are also microchipped and registered with  911PetChip . We require spay/neutering of puppies at 6-8 months old (or the appropriate age for giant breeds)  by our veterinarian. The procedure is covered by the adoption fee. Alternatively, adopters can choose to have the procedure done by their own vet (proof required),  and a portion of the cost will be refunded.    All of our dogs receive the best in veterinary care and are spay/neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and fully vaccinated.  The standard adoption donation fee for all dogs and puppies is $300 (unless a reduced fee applies )  APPLY NOW       March 18, 2025, 3:42 pm
