Story
Meet Marco! Marco comes from Kansas. He had a very tough first year of life. He lived outside with a pack of 12 other Great Pyrenees dogs who were very neglected. After enough complaints from the neighbors, the local sheriffs department stepped in and seized the dogs. Living conditions were deplorable and none of these dogs had ever been to a vet, seen a leash, been in a car and had very limited human interaction. Luckily Marco was rescued in summer 2024 and made his way north to Minnesota in November 2024, but is still looking for his perfect family. We think he is about 1 1/2 years old. Marco is very slow to open up to new people. He is excellent with his foster mom and young 2 year old child in the foster home, but it took some time and patience. He has also been okay when visiting the vet and groomer, but when new people try to interact with him too quickly, he will bark and growl. He is scared and doesn't trust anyone new. Marco needs a very patient owner who is willing to give him time to decompress and adjust to a new home. Once adjusted and he starts opening up, he is very affectionate and just wants to be loved. When Marco first came to his foster's house he was very shut down and stayed in his crate (by choice) for the first 3-4 days. Starting on day 5, little by little he started exploring the house. At 2 weeks he finally decided his foster dog brother was a good playmate and opened up to him. Having another dog in the home has helped show Marco what home life can be like, and he would love a canine companion in his forever home, but it isn't required. Marco is very loyal to his foster family, a great guard dog and is an all around happy guy once he feels comfortable. He is crate trained, but has free roam in his foster home and has been perfect with no bathroom accidents and absolutely no destructive behaviors. We know Marco is a special case and it is going to take a patient and confident person to work with him, especially getting through those first few weeks of the adjustment period. Once he opens up and trust is established, he will be such a loyal companion! Adoption fee is $300+ tax; apply at www.campcompanion.org

Story
Meet Buddy, a big-hearted pup with plenty of love to give! At just under 3 years old, Buddy is still very much a playful puppy at heart. He loves attention and gets along well with other dogs, though he would also thrive as an only pet due to some resource guarding tendencies. Buddy is eager to learn and thrives when given guidance. While his recall and potty training are still works in progress, his enthusiasm and intelligence make him a quick learner with the right support. A home with a fenced-in yard would be ideal for Buddy, giving him the space he needs to run, play, and burn off his youthful energy. Because of his size and exuberance, Buddy would do best in a home with older children who can match his playful energy and understand his needs. Buddy's dream is to find a patient and loving family who can help him grow into the amazing dog he’s meant to be. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s ready to learn and love unconditionally, Buddy is your guy! Special Considerations: Buddy would benefit from continued training and a home committed to working on his resource guarding.

Story
Meet Athena, our lovable Pyrenees mix with a heart full of sweetness and a few quirky traits! She’s a bit on the timid side, preferring to quietly observe the world rather than dive right in. While she’s got an adventurous streak, especially when it comes to snow (she loves eating it!), she’s definitely not an outdoor dog—she’s all about the cozy comforts of being a beloved indoor companion. Her instincts might say “chase” when it comes to chickens, and she might have some tension with cats (they’re just not her thing!), but with the right training and patience, she’s sure to thrive in a calm, structured home. What Athena truly wants is to be a pampered pet, loved and doted on, with no job to do—just a cozy spot to call her own and lots of belly rubs. If you're looking for a sweet, low-maintenance, and snow-loving companion, Athena might just be the one for you
