You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Enviornmental Allergies: On MedsThor, also known as Big Handsome or Bubba, is 110 pounds of pure love! Thor came to us as a medical case and now that he is happy and healthy he is ready to find his forever home. In 2023, Thor had two surgeries to correct a torn CCL in both knees and has had no mobility problems since then. The vet suggested he would do best with limited time on cement surfaces and no aggressive exercise. Thor has also been diagnosed with environmental allergies which is a lifelong condition which is being closely maintained and monitored.  Thor is a big love bug that certainly knows what he likes and doesn't in this world. Like most dogs, he enjoys the simple pleasures of being a dog such as food, car rides, meeting new people, walks, belly rubs, and a good brushing. Some things he does not like include fireworks, water, and enclosed stairways. Thor can often be seen chasing the squirrels and bunnies out of his yard. He would do best in a home with no cats as he approaches them in a very excited manner and with energy that is too much for most cats to handle. He does a great job at meeting dogs and tends to ignore them until they get proper introduction. After that, he loves to play with other dogs but is not always aware of his strength. He may be 100 pounds but he certainly does not believe that. He currently has a foster sibling that is about twenty pounds meaning he gets along with all sized of dogs but may need some corrections if his energy is too high.  Thor's adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives, plus a free basic obedience training class at Cedar Run #2 in Hiawatha. Last Hope requires all animals be kept as indoor only pets and that adopters have a history of keeping their pets altered and current on vaccinations and prevention. If you would like to adopt Thor, please fill out an adoption application for consideration on our website, adopthope.org. The adoption process includes background and reference checks, a vet history check, and a home visit.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 4, 2024, 6:20 pm

Story
Introducing Bear, an adorable and outgoing 10-week-old pup who's sure to steal your heart! We believe Bear is a mix of Great Pyrenees and Newfoundland, and he's already showing signs of growing into a big, lovable teddy bear. Currently weighing 15 pounds, Bear has plenty of room to grow, and we expect him to become a large, gentle giant. Bear is a social butterfly with an abundance of energy and enthusiasm. He loves meeting new people, making friends with other dogs, and exploring the world around him. His favorite thing in life? Playtime! Whether it’s chasing after toys or running around in the yard, Bear is happiest when he's active and engaged. This little guy is already making great strides in his potty training, but as a young pup, he’ll need regular bathroom breaks and some extra supervision while he continues to learn. Bear will thrive in a home that uses positive reinforcement, and his sweet nature makes him an eager learner. Since Bear is an adventurous spirit who loves to run and explore, a secure, physically fenced yard is a must to keep him safe and happy. Bear has been microchipped, dewormed, and has received his first distemper/parvo booster. His new family will be responsible for his next two boosters, his rabies vaccine at 16 weeks, and for neutering him when he reaches a year old. If you're looking for a fun-loving, affectionate companion who will bring joy and laughter to your life, Bear is waiting for you! Could you be the perfect match for this sweet boy? Come meet Bear and see if he's the furry friend you've been searching for! If you would like to meet Bear, please complete the adoption application on our website: www.furfunrescue.org. If you have questions about Bear, you can contact rox@furfunrescue.org or call 319-929-6657. Adopters must be within a two-hour radius of Cedar Rapids, IA.  Indoor homes only.  Adoption fee $300.

Story
Duke is a 1 year Pyr pup that loves to snooze and hang outside. He is excellent around children of all ages, including infants. He is great on walks, house trained, kennel trained. He is not neutered due to the recommended age being 18 months for bone development, so because of this I am waiving a rehoming fee if he goes to the right home. He gets along great with other dogs and loves to play. He has not really been exposed to cats, but he's a very docile dog and has never shown aggression toward anything or anyone. He is submissive and very lovable, if you call him over he will gladly sit on your lap.

Story
Miss Maggie! Though she may not be the best livestock guarding girl, she could DEFINITELY win a wiggling butt competition! As giving love is ALL Maggie ever really wants to do! She weighs in at that medium size at about 3 years old, and a polar bear might confuse her for a cub, but her fluff does make her LOOK bigger! We can't get enough of her lovin's here, she will make the perfect addition to just about any home as she loves everyone, and everything. If she's getting loved on, she is 100% all for it and willing to do just about anything for it! She spends her days hanging out with us in the lobby, and romping around with the other dogs, always with an excited tail- nothing seems to bother her much EVER! Maggie has got the basics of being the bestest girl DOWN, and is ALWAYS excited to show off her skills for some treats, pats, toys, or even just a "good girl." If you're looking for a great natured, cuddle bug to join your family, Maggie is 100% cut out to be the PERFECT pooch!
