Thor came to us as a medical case and now that he is happy and healthy he is ready to find his forever home. In 2023, Thor had two surgeries to correct a torn CCL in both knees and has had no mobility problems since then. The vet suggested he would do best with limited time on cement surfaces and no aggressive exercise. Thor has also been diagnosed with environmental allergies which is a lifelong condition which is being closely maintained and monitored.  Thor is a big love bug that certainly knows what he likes and doesn't in this world. Like most dogs, he enjoys the simple pleasures of being a dog such as food, car rides, meeting new people, walks, belly rubs, and a good brushing. Some things he does not like include fireworks, water, and enclosed stairways. Thor can often be seen chasing the squirrels and bunnies out of his yard. He would do best in a home with no cats as he approaches them in a very excited manner and with energy that is too much for most cats to handle. He does a great job at meeting dogs and tends to ignore them until they get proper introduction. After that, he loves to play with other dogs but is not always aware of his strength. He may be 100 pounds but he certainly does not believe that. He currently has a foster sibling that is about twenty pounds meaning he gets along with all sized of dogs but may need some corrections if his energy is too high.  Thor's adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives, plus a free basic obedience training class at Cedar Run #2 in Hiawatha. Last Hope requires all animals be kept as indoor only pets and that adopters have a history of keeping their pets altered and current on vaccinations and prevention. If you would like to adopt Thor, please fill out an adoption application for consideration on our website, adopthope.org. The adoption process includes background and reference checks, a vet history check, and a home visit.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 9, 2026, 11:31 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Introducing Pearl, a stunning 3 year old (estimated) Great Pyrenees blend who is as large in heart as she is in stature. Weighing in at around 82 pounds, Pearl originally came into our care as a stray through the Iowa County Pound alongside her canine friend, Meatball. While her previous owners were unable to reclaim her, Pearl has moved forward with grace and a wagging tail. When she first arrived, her thick, beautiful silver-and-gray coat was heavily matted and filled with several burrs. Thanks to a dedicated volunteer and a much-needed grooming session, Pearl is now sporting a fresh, soft coat and is officially ready to find a family that will cherish her—and keep up with her necessary routine grooming maintenance! Pearl is the definition of a 'gentle giant.' She has a sweet, serene disposition and a unique way of showing affection: she absolutely loves to give hugs to her favorite humans. Despite her size, she carries herself with a quiet dignity, though she still has plenty of love to give to anyone who stops to say hello. Because she likely carries the traits of the Great Pyrenees breed, she is looking for a home that understands and appreciates the independent, watchful, and loyal nature of livestock guardian types.  The ideal home for Pearl is one that is familiar with large-breed characteristics and can provide the space she needs to lounge and patrol her domain. Whether she’s leaning in for one of her signature hugs or relaxing in the shade, Pearl is a soulful dog who simply wants to be understood and loved.  *** Pearl has been brought up-to-date on her vaccinations, but is awaiting her spay surgery. This will take place within the next week, so we are estimating her to be ready for adoption by 3/27/26. Please submit an online adoption application for Pearl if you're interested in setting up an appointment time to meet her.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 25, 2026, 7:18 pm
