Story
Meet Missy! Missy is a 4 year old Great Dane who is looking for a special forever home. Missy was originally pulled from a less-than-ideal breeding kennel situation in another jurisdiction, and was in foster care with a rescue group while she underwent treatment for Heartworm. She has since been cleared of Heartworm and is healthy & ready for a permanent home! (She came to us a bit underweight, but her vet check was good and she simply needed more groceries) Missy is incredibly sweet with people and loves to lean up against your legs when she's standing next to you. She rides well in the car and is very well-mannered and sweet! While Missy is not reactive in the shelter setting, unfortunately she cannot live with other pets and will need to be your one and only princess. She is potty trained and knows some basic commands. Missy is currently on eye drops for some crusty/dry eyes, an may need future treatment if the problem persists, so her adopters should be comfortable following up with their vet for any future medical needs she may have. She may have Entropion, which could require surgery, but her veterinary team wanted to recheck that after she puts on more weight. *PLEASE do research on this breed if you are not already familiar, especially with the cost of caring for/feeding these babies. They do tend to have a shorter lifespan than some of their smaller k9 relatives, but are one of the most loyal breeds out there! She is already settling in so nicely and we don't think it will take her long to settle into your home! We are doing all meet n' greets BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after an adoption application has been approved. Hi, I am Frenchie! I am a 1-year-old great dane. I am current on my vaccines, heartworm tested, and microchipped. I am soon to be spayed and have my stomach tacked as well. 3 words that describe me: Affectionate, Friendly, and Energetic Things staff and volunteers have to say about me: I am a super happy go lucky girl. I love meeting new people and showing off my hight. I love looking out windows and just being with my favorite people. Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10): 8 or 9/10 Housetraining Status: I am still working on my housetraining, but with just a little bit of training and some patience I should be housetrained in no time! I should do well in a home: I should do fine with children of all ages given proper supervision I am a big girl and very bouncy. I should do well with other dogs given proper introductions and time to adjust. My friends at CRHS are unsure how I'd do with cats. My favorite activities are: I mostly just want to be with my people, but I also love being outside. I like to show off how high I can jump and I will ask you to catch me when I see the chance. Things I need work on are: I do need a bit of leash training but Im getting better evey day, housetraining, basic commands, counter surfing. Hello, I am Rizzo! I am a 2 year old Great Dane. I am current on my vaccines, heartworm tested, and microchipped. Things staff and volunteers have to say about me: I am a big girl who loves cuddles and hugs. I love hanging out with people. I do like to lean on everyone when they are giving me attention. Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10): 7-8/10 Housetraining Status: I'm mostly housetrained, but may need some patience as I adjust to a new home and routine. I should do well in a home: My friends at the CRHS think I would do good with other dogs. I would do good with kids of any ages with proper adult supervision as I am big and don't fully understand my size, but I am still a gentle girl. I did very well with cats in foster, given proper introductions. My favorite activities are: Rubbing on my favorite people, walks, and cuddling up for a good nap. Things I need work on are: Basic commands and leash walking, I don't pull a lot, but I'm a big dog and can always do better! Any special needs: N/A Doggy day out notes: "Rizzo did amazing. She was initially really anxious and didn’t want to get in the car but adjusted quickly to her surroundings. I think most of the anxiety had to do with her being by confused but I could see her getting acclimated to a family really quickly. She made herself at home and loved interacting with everyone."
