Meet Zeus, our lovable Great Dane who is nearly 2 years old and still has that playful spirit of a big puppy! This goofy giant doesn’t quite realize just how big he is! Weighing around 130 pounds, Zeus can sometimes be a bit clumsy, knocking over anything in his path (especially when he really wants to say hello!) Zeus is also quite vocal; he loves to express himself with his happy barks or chatty howls or whining complaints, especially when he’s excited, wants your attention , has to do something he doesn’t want to (this is when the complaints start), or is playing with other dogs! His silly personality and expressive nature will keep you entertained and ensure you never have a dull moment. Zeus is good with cats as long as you’re ok having to frequently remind him that cats really don’t want to play with puppies that are 12x their size! He is good with other dogs as long as the other dog is ok with Zeus’s rough and tumble play style and that he is VERY vocal when he plays Zeus is a little much for small kids and small kids are a bit much for Zeus, he does ok with older kids, >12yo up. He is a friendly, active, pup who’s living with five other dogs & a teenager in his foster home.Rocky is house trained, crate trained & knows how to sit, shake, most of the time lay down & comes when called. Rocky is your typical active pup who needs his daily walks & playtime to be on his best behavior. He likes to Cobb (sign of affection) your arm. He sleeps in his kennel all night with a blanket or dog bed & has free rein in the house when we’re home.Rocky absolutely loves to be outside whether it’s running, chasing, or wrestling with other dogs or following you around as you do yard work. My name is Apollo, and I am a 2-year-old Great Dane mix. I was relinquished to Lakeland 6 months ago, to no fault of my own. My friends here tell me I am a gentle soul with a larger-than-life personality and a body to match. They also tell me I am a good-natured, delightful pup and that I would make a wonderful addition to the right family. I walk nicely on a leash, and it’s a good thing because I’m curious about the world and love exploring nature. Leisurely walking the trails, smelling all the smells, is easily one of my favorite activities. I also really enjoy my time in the outdoor pen, where I can stretch my legs and show off my sprint. Luckily, I have pretty good brakes! After playtime, I enjoy leaning in to my shelter friends for a gentle embrace before heading back inside, where, with any luck, I’ll be left with a pig ear to munch on. I get along with other dogs and would do well in a home with a canine friend. Sometimes, I forget just how big I am, so a home without small kids would be best. If I had one wish for Christmas, it wouldn’t be a bone, bed, or cozy blanket. My wish would be for my forever person to come pick me up and take me home. Please, Santa, help make my Christmas wish come true. Oh, and Santa, I’ll be sure to leave you some kibble at the bottom of my bowl.
