Story
Tall Titan, is a strong and remarkable  Warrior, a dog that has fought to be alive and walking  today on this earth.  He has willed himself to come from the depths of pain and starvation to become this handsome boy that you see right now.  He is our Super Hero Pup and our example of a creature that has never given up even when it would have been easier to just go to sleep and never wake up.  When Titan came to a rescue lady’s house that Critter Cavalry knows, this boy was malnourished and just a skeleton of the puppy he should be as a Great Dane.  The lady has a love for the Danes and she asked CCR to please take him into our rescue before she fell in love and couldn’t let him go.  She had enough dogs and just felt the temptation to keep him was too great.  We agreed and soon Titan was ours to raise and get prepped for a new home and family.  Shortly afterwards his foster family noticed he was struggling to walk and his joints were inflamed. Titan was taken to several vets before receiving the diagnosis of  Hypertrophic osteodystrophy (HOD). He has been put on a regimen of medications, high calorie food and hydrotherapy and is now running, jumping and playing with other dogs. His favorite things to do are play with toys, run and nap in the sun. Titan is a large dog and will do best in a home with another large dog or two that he will be able to play with. He will continue to need medication intermittently for some time and to be followed by a veterinarian.  If you have large breed dog experience and are willing to take on this fellas special needs please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue. He is not house trained to hold longer than 4 hours.  He needs to eat separately at mealtimes and he needs to learn better how to play with his toys in a group setting if there are other dogs.  If he is the only dog then there is no special monitoring.  Titan rides like a champ in the car or truck and he is definitely crate trained with good dog/name recall.  He would be easier to watch in the yard if you had a real physical fence installed since he likes to wander off out of curiosity.   Please email Critter Cavalry at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested.  He is great with young children/boys that are rough and tumble and lots of noise. PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJuly 2, 2024, 6:51 pm

Story
Blaine is a dapper 4(ish) year old Great Dane who came into our care after he was abandoned. He was found tied up in Philadelphia, so tight he couldn’t even sit. Tired, hungry, thirsty and scared, Blaine waited for hours until a Good Samaritan came and picked him up. He was transported an hour to Blue Pearl and then we were called. Blaine has been in our care for 2.5 months and since his arrival has gained much needed weight and the wounds on his legs have finally healed enough. He has done well with a few female dogs he has met who are medium/large in size but doesn’t understand his own size sometimes. He would do better in a home without young children as he has boundaries that need to be respected. Blaine would thrive in a home with adults who have XL breed experience since he thinks he’s a lap dog and wants to be as close as possible. Blaine is a sweet boy who has been dealt a bad hand in the first half of his life, so it’s up to us to share him and find him the home he deserves! To adopt Blaine please apply here —> www.easelnj.org/application-dog/ Adoption by appointment only with an approved adoption application. Please go to www.easelnj.org/adopt to submit an adoption application. Someone will be in touch within 48 hours.

Story
Champ, Callie and Cleo were born on new years day of this year. These 3 pups are the last remaining of the litter of 6. They weigh about 36 lbs and we don’t believe they will get over 55-65 lbs once full grown. These pups were born in a home - mom is a boxer mix and dad is a yellow lab mix. Champ, Callie and Cleo were denied by multiple rescues when the owner reached out to different ones, not knowing what to do with the puppies. They continued to be denied as rescues were full, and the puppies were considered “too unadoptable based on color” by most rescues. The owner didn’t give up, and once we had room to safety take them in, we accepted all pups into rescue and fixed the mom, so no more puppies for her (the owner kept mom and dad). These 3 pups have been around children their whole lives. They grew up with multiple children in the home and get along very well with them. The pups are quite gentle with people in general, especially children. They have been exposed to inside and outside cats and have no issues with kitties. They’re shockingly not a big fan of toys but they are very food motivated and love their treats. All 3 have been around other dogs and have no issues with any other dogs. Callie, Camp and Cleo love to cuddle and are very snuggly. They will subtly climb on the couch with you and just lay close to you, hoping you won’t notice them. They love their dogs. They are crate trained and mostly house trained. The foster did note they all have webbed feet, which we aren’t sure where they get it from! Callie is the most gentle of the 3. She is the observer. She will watch everything before engaging in what everyone else is doing. She loves her pets and would do best in a home with another dog (but not required) as she does lack confidence in herself. She is quieter than Champ and Cleo, and a more quiet/calm home would be perfect for her. She is not a very active girl but does love her walks and time outside. Champ and Cleo are quite similar in demeanor – They’re both super friendly and the first ones to come up to you. They will do whatever they can to get your attention and are super duper food and treat motivated. They love everyone and everything they meet. These 2 would do best in all types of homes as they can just hang around and relax all day, or they are more than willing to go on adventures. All adoption fees include spay/neuter, current parvo/distemper vaccines, bordatella, rabies vaccine, current negative heart worm test, current simparica trio, current dewormer, microchip and transport costs from Texas to the east coast. TO APPLY TO ADOPT: Please fill out an application on our website to adopt: www.ruraltank.org/adopt Most of our animals are located in Texas unless otherwise specified at the top of their bio. If they are listed in a certain new England city at the top of their bio, that means they are in a foster home and no further transport can be offered from the city they are in (unless the foster is able to meet you, or you go to the city they are fostered in). The animals we have in Texas are available for transport once adopted. We use multiple different transport companies (via vehicle), all are USDA licensed. We have transport companies that can go directly to your door (this option costs slightly more, but it’s a smaller transport and more one on one care). This company can go as far as the Canadian border along the east coast. We also use larger companies who are just as fantastic. This transport is included in the adoption fee, but they meet at general stops along the route, depending on where adopters are located for that specific transport. Most transports have stops in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and Connecticut. Transports leave every 1-3 weeks, depending. We go over more specifics once you are an approved adopter.

Story
Scratch is a 1 year old neutered male great dane/terrier mix who weighs 85 lbs. Scratch is looking for a new home after his person was no longer able to keep him due to landlord issues. This guy has been nothing but sweet, but is clearly confused about why he isn't in his home anymore. He will need a family willing to help boost his confidence as he wasn't socialized much in his previous home. He seems to do well with other dogs and previously lived with a small dog without issue. Scratch has SO much potential and has learned so much already! He loves to be with his people and playing with toys. Fetch is his favorite game! He's done well on walks and hasn't been reactive to those he crosses paths with. He is shy with new people at first, but warms up when he's given a chance to feel safe. Scratch loves bananas and cheese, but hates peanut butter. While he loves to play in true puppy fashion, he's also an expert snuggler. Scratch has always known love from his family and cannot wait to land in another home full of kindness and people who love him. Please help us find Scratch the devoted forever family he so desperately deserves!Interested in adopting? Story
MEET DENVER! Denver the Great Dane is around 5 years old and was surrendered to the rescue due to the increasing needs of a family member. His former family was heartbroken to surrender such an amazing dog but they knew he deserved more individual attention. Denver is the definition of a gentle giant and pure sweetness through and through. Denver weighs 150 lbs. and has proven to be a healthy boy. He is beginning to show the signs of aging like hip stiffness and decreased vision in one eye but nothing not expected of a giant breed. Denver is currently living in a foster home with other dogs who he was immediately comfortable with. He will gently play with his senior pittie foster sister when she's in the mood but is otherwise respectful of her space. Denver also lives with a cat who he doesn't show much interest in. He occasionally sniffs to say hello but otherwise doesn't bother with him much. Denver is also living with elementary-aged kids who he LOVES! He loves getting attention from them and will happily stand still or lay down to show his belly and let them pet him all over. Despite his size, Denver is gentle and sweet with everyone he meets. He loves to lean into you while you pet him, will give you tiny kisses when you let him, and will happily lay down at your feet. Outside, Denver bounces around like a puppy in an adorable and awkward way. He loves to chase sticks and squeaky toys, or even just you if you're in the mood to play chase! After a short play session, this big guy is ready to lounge for the rest of the day. Denver already knows basic commands like sit, lay down, and paw. We get the sense that Denver didn't go too many places during the pandemic because he does get nervous in new places, especially the vets' office. And because of limited vision in his right eye, he is sometimes hesitant to cross new thresholds/doorways. Denver is fine going up a handful of stairs but is terrified to go back down them; likely due to his size and trouble with depth perception.  It took about 3 days for him to be comfortable navigating the first floor of his foster home. He has always lived on the first floor of his previous home and will need a home where he doesn't need to go down a flight of stairs to access. He doesn't have any issues with separation and once he's comfortable in a place, he's cool as a cucumber. He may need a couple weeks to fully settle into his new home. We have discovered that Denver LOVES to go for walks with his foster family. He's a little jittery at first but happy to be included and looks forward to the next. He is a strong boy who occasionally pulls towards something that interests him so his future family should be ready to work on his leash skills a bit and be prepared to handle a dog of his size. Ideally, we'd love to find Denver a family with giant breed experience who is familiar with their needs as they age. As Great Danes do, Denver is a drooler. It's best to keep a dish towel around to wipe his mouth after meals, water or after he had been panting. He will need a family comfortable with keeping his jowls clean. He is completely housebroken and has not had an accident since coming to the rescue. He is not crate trained, but is respectful of baby gates and content hanging in one space while you're at work. Overall, we can't say enough good things about him. Denver is a giant angel who is the perfect combination of loving, playful and respectful! Whoever ends up adopting him will be very, very lucky! Denver is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love. He is vaccinated and microchipped. He is heartworm negative but being treated for Lymes Disease with a course of antibiotics. Dogs with Lymes occasionally have flare ups but Denver has not been symptomatic. He was recently neutered and received a gastropexy which prevents bloat in giant breed dogs. Interested in adopting him? Visit cityofelderlylove.org to complete an online adoption questionnaire or email us at info@cityofelderlylove.org! **Denver is looking for a home in the Greater Philadelphia/Tri-state area. City of Elderly Love is unable to adopt outside of a reasonable driving distance of Philadelphia.**

Story
Shhhhh, don’t tell Lou she is a 9 year old senior looking for a retirement home ! Lou now sees herself as a mature, spirited soul full of love and life and wants nothing more than to share all this with her human. She prefers no annoying little dogs or cats in her presence and is dog selective with medium to large breed. Lou was abandoned and she is still discovering new ways of living a new life. She can totally entertain herself with the simplest objects like any hard dog toy or chew toy. She is determined and easily persuaded to change direction! She has discovered how great it is to pick a pocket of biscuits and quite proud of herself with that discovery! There’s a lot of discovery to do in Lou’s life yet and looking for that special person to share her adventures with! MAGDRL adopts to eastern NY, eastern PA, NJ, DE, MD, WV and VA only.
