You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.INTRODUCING THE QUIRKY BIRDS! WREN, EAGLE AND HAWK. A trio of Great Dane Mixes that are as quirky as a one-legged cat. They are not afraid to express themselves, and that may include a little too much enthusiasm for their toys, a penchant for stealing socks, or a surprisingly elaborate dance routine after a good nap!  If you're looking for a dog who'll keep you on your toes (literally!), then you've found the it! Eagle had a rough start, but is doing great and gaining weight steadily.  He is sweet and funny and loves playing with his two siblings--Wren and Hawk.  He is puppy pad trained and also is going outside to potty. PLEASE READ THE INFORMATION BELOW CAREFULLY BEFORE APPLYING FOR OUR PUPPIES They were saved by our KY rescue friends. BREED :  As far as we know, they are 50% Great Dane.SIZE:   We can NOT predict the size of these dogs.  Safe to say – BIG.  Please don’t apply if size is a factor in your decision.  Our goal is to never have to re-home our dogs—especially because they didn’t grow to expectations. THEY POOP AND PEE A LOT:  Be prepared. Typically, a puppy can control their bladder one hour for every month of age. So if your puppy is 2 months old, they can hold it for about two hours. Don't go longer than this between bathroom breaks or they're likely to have an accident.IF you work away from home—you will need a patient care giver for your new addition in your absence. THESE PUPS absolutely need training, exercise, and a lifetime commitment. These sweet pups can give the right owner many wonderful years of companionship and love. Can you commit to a lifetime with your best friend?  It is the responsibility of puppy adopters to complete the puppy shots and continue maintenance protocols.  These pups have had their first puppy shot and are dewormed (you may have to continue follow up on deworming).  Puppies will need at least two more boosters and a rabies vaccine in the coming weeks with boosters again yearly.  Your vet may recommend other vaccines in the future; such as lyme, influenza etc.   You MUST sign a contract agreeing to have your puppy spayed/neutered at an age recommended by your veterinarian.  Your vet may want to wait longer to s/n larger breeds.  You must provide Haven to Home with proof of SPAY/NEUTER at an agreed upon date in the future. ASK yourself:  Can I afford to have my puppy spayed/neutered? This dog may live to be 15-20 years old. Do I really want to make this possible lifetime commitment? If my pet gets sick or injured can I afford the medical treatment? (In some cases this could be for the duration of my pet's life.) Am I home enough to give this pet the proper attention and training that it needs? What will I do with the dog if we go away on vacation? Can I afford the adoption fee? Can I afford the cost of monthly flea and heartworm preventative? If you are STILL interested in adopting one of our pups :) please submit an application.  Our rescue dogs are placed in homes based on the best possible match for dog and human. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ Click here for the ADOPTION APPLICATION if you are interested in adopting this pet. Applications are the first step in the adoption process. Please do not call or email simply to express interest. We are all volunteers and receiving your application saves us time and helps to determine the best match for both people and dogs.  We provide as much information as we currently have on each dog in their description. For questions on the adoption process, including fees, please review the Adoption page. If you have additional questions or are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption application. Once we receive your application someone will be in touch to answer your questions. We do not arrange visits to meet dogs without an application. If you'd like to meet a variety of dogs without filling out an application please attend one of our events, listed under the events link.  Thank you!April 11, 2025, 8:05 pm

Story
Hello! My name is Jerry! I am a giant love-bug. I am young, active, playful, and so ready for a forever home. I came here as a stray and I had a hard time adjusting at first. But, if you have owned Great Danes before, you know that sometimes we can be nervous in new situations. I definitely need a family who can help socialize me, train me, and show me that the world is a pretty cool place. I am loyal and protective, and also very smart! I love learning new things. I will need to be adopted by a family who has owned a Great Dane before, because they will know me best! I have big paws and like to jump up on you for hugs (so I am still learning new manners). I play with dogs here and enjoy making new friends. I will probably do better with older kids, but would need to meet any to see how I feel about them. If you are looking for a giant best friend, come meet me today! If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home. While play groups do help us get to know the dog`s better, once they are adopted their new environments and new relationships will influence their behavior in ways we cannot predict. The Adoption Fee Includes:- initial canine distemper combination vaccination- first worming or stool check- rabies vaccination (for animals over 3 months of age)- 24 Petwatch microchipping- flea treatment/preventative- spaying or neutering-heartworm testingAdoption fee: $135.00Per state law, ALL ADOPTERS must purchase a non-refundable 2025 dog license at time of adoption for any canine three months and older. The cost of the license is $9.20. (Senior Citizen or Person with Disability-$7.20)Leash and collar included

Story
Meet Bree! Bree is a 1 year old Great Dane mix who came to us as an owner surrender. Bree is a big lady with LOTS of love to give! She is very happy to be around people and plays wonderfully with other dogs. She has already stolen many hearts here and we are all so excited to find her the perfect forever home! Bree is high energy girl, and would love an active family who can provide her with the training and exercise that she needs. As with all rescue dogs, they will need a family who is understanding and prepared to work through a period of transition with them as they learn to live in a house and around people. They will need time to trust their new family before working on training, such as house training. We require all our animals to be trained using positive reinforcement methods ONLY. If you are interested in being considered for them please apply on our website at www.angelsretreat.org 💕🐾
