BONDED PAIR WITH LULU! PLEASE SEE LISTING FOR LULU! LULU AND DUKE MAY POTENTIALLY BE ADOPTED SEPARATELY, BUT IT IS PREFERRED THAT THEY ARE ADOPTED TOGETHER! Duke and Lulu are a bonded pair who came into rescue following the death of their owner and loss of their home. As expected after all the changes in their environment and family dynamic the past six months, they seek lots of attention. Both are affectionate, playful and eager to please and would do well in a structured environment with humans who can give them the time and attention they need. Duke seems to be the strong silent type – sitting back observing and taking his cues from Lulu. He warms up right away, while she needs a little time to get comfortable with new people. Both travel in the car extremely well, are crate trained, and have lived peacefully with several inside/outside cats. Their roommates/caretakers report they have high prey drive and do not like Chihuahuas. As far as exposure to children, they have only encountered a 12YO nephew a few times. They both listen considerably well,but could use general manners reinforcement and leash work. Oakley came into rescue through a veterinary office. He is a very under weight, neutered 5 1/2 yrs old and will need time to decompress. He is unknown to young children. However, he is good with children 11 years and up. He appears to like all dogs of every size and shape and loves to play with them. He is not aware of his size so he will need direction when playing too rough. He will have a training contract as he loves to go for walks. However, if given enough lead he will pull you over. He is unknown with cats. If you have a home, would like to meet this boy, and are willing to give him a couch to sleep on, please let us know. PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.Arkansas or nearby! Waylon is a 2 yr old Great Dane who came into rescue after he was found as a stray. He was in horrific shape and barely survived the level of starvation he endured. But he did survive and he is thriving now! Waylon is still slowly gaining weight, and has almost reached his ideal weight. He is VERY tall. He is so sweet and loving. He want to sit in your lap and cuddle with you, as if he is a 10lb lap dog rather than 120 lb Dane. While in his foster home, he has done well with most other dogs, but it is very structured and his time with other dogs is limited. He does seem to have a jealoys streak and is possessive of his people. He does great in a doggy daycare setting and has spent lots of time in daycare, doing very well with most dogs there. I think this is a lot different than how he will behave in a home setting with other dogs sharing his humans attention. For this reason, we would love to see him adopted into a home where he can be the only dog. He is not a candidate for a home with young kids. He is just too big and clumsy, and he really wants all the attention. I feel the he may become jealous of little kids and view them as competition. We just really want to set him up for success. He's been through enough in his short life amd we want it to be easy from here on our. Waylon holds a very special place in my heart. Hes been in my home through it all- recovering from starvation, happy tail and subsequent tail amputation, heartworm treatment. The odds were stacked against him, but he made it and now he's ready to find his own home. Waylon is located in Alexander, AR. We would prefer a local adopter, within driving distance. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion.
