Story
Thank you for your interest in one of our amazing dogs, please how our meet and greets work. We are by appointment only, all our meet and greets are outside on the same property as the shelter, under our covered, fenced area, so we must schedule appointments. If a dog is on our website, it is available for adoption. We do not schedule multiple meetings with different people for the dog on the same day. We do meet and greets Tuesday-Saturday, no night meets. We have questions at the bottom of each dog’s bio, by answering the questions in your inquiry, you help move things along, it is okay if you do not, we will send an e-mail back to you with those questions. It does not matter if you are a homeowner or renter, but please check with your rental company for breed and weight restrictions. If this will be an ESA dog, get approval from your rental company first. Our dogs are listed on Petfinder (purchased by Purina), Adopt-a-pet and rescueme.org or you can e-mail us directly at shelter@hbpets.org with questions about the dog, please be sure to say who you are asking about. Lastly, we do review all applicants, so if you are looking to get a dog today or in the next 24 hours, we may not be the right place, by taking a little more time and reviewing we have decreased our yearly dog returns to 1%. We get back to everyone as quickly as possible, sending multiple inquires or calling multiple times, will not change the process, if you don’t get a reply e-mail within 72hrs, check your spam and junk folder, if there is nothing please e-mail us directly at shelter@hbpets.org. Hi, I am Ottis, I am almost 4yrs old, neutered male, Great Dane/Catahoula mix. My story is long, I am an amazing dog, I am sweet, love humans and children, I know several basic commands, as my anxiety has gotten under control I have blossomed into a wonderful dog, who needs a specific type of home, the 4 questions below are what I need to live a peaceful life, if you say yes to all four, please reach out and the amazing shelter team can tell you all about me. 1. Are you experienced with dogs who have anxiety? 2. Do you have a private fenced yard? 3. Can you continue my daily medications? 4. Do you understand I cannot live with other dogs and cannot go to dog parks? My adoption fee is $200: I am neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped and I come with a 60 day supply of my medication.

Story
Minnie is an extremely sweet and playful pup! She does well on a leash and enjoys daily walks with other dogs. She gets along great with dogs, cats, and kids, making her a wonderful family companion. Minnie loves playing tug of war and sometimes thinks she’s a lap dog. She can be vocal when she wants attention and still has plenty of puppy energy, so she’ll need a home that can give her plenty of exercise and playtime. She enjoys being outside, exploring new places, and going on adventures. At the end of the day, she’s always ready to snuggle up for some love. Minnie is crate trained and eager to find her forever family! Local adoption fee is $250 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $550 (includes transport to your area)

Story
If Kindrow had a theme song, it would be “Take Me Home, Country Roads” by John Denver. He loves everything about country life; wide open spaces, a slower pace, the morning sounds of farm animals, the fresh scent of dew-covered grass, and simple living. We didn’t realize this until he moved to his current foster, who lives on a country property. It’s like he was born for this life! Hence his nickname: "Kickback Country Boy." But Kindrow is more than just a country-loving pup… he's your best friend and the sidekick you never knew you needed. Watch his video, and you’ll be clicking that adoption link in no time: https://youtu.be/Wjc8DaDIUYs?si=ngyBEd9WFlDqbbrH Kindrow is tall with a big, blocky head, possibly a Great Dane, Mastiff, or Boxer mix. As a rescue, we can only guess his breed. Despite his size, he’s a total softie, weighing just 74 lbs and around 1.5 years old. Mornings with Kindrow are peaceful. He’ll snuggle all night, never stirring, and even lets you sleep in. When you wake, you’ll find him lounging on the patio, watching the sunrise, waiting to start the day. Living on a farm, he’s great with animals. Horses, chickens, ducks, and cows don’t faze him. During the day, he follows his foster off-leash while tending to the animals or doing chores. In town, he’s the perfect errand buddy, riding shotgun, simply enjoying the trip. If he stays home, his foster checks in via a doggy camera and finds him either patiently looking out the window or napping with a stuffy toy. No troublemaking here! He’s also crate-trained, comfortably going 7–8 hours with no accidents. At bedtime, he’ll wait for an invitation onto the bed; a true gentleman and great housemate. Kindrow is gentle and patient with children, even as young as four. While he tolerates loud noises and quick movements, he prefers older kids (14+) who respect his space and enjoy more structured play, like fetch or tag. If younger kids visit occasionally, he’ll be just fine, as long as his home is generally relaxed. Kindrow enjoys doggy friends of all sizes but does best with medium-energy, submissive females who prefer gentle play over nonstop roughhousing. He’s also great with small dogs, respecting their space and size. He even met Mateo, a 12-lb pup, and after some initial shyness, they became best friends—sharing toys, treats, and snuggles. However, he needs a cat-free home. He somehow knows chickens are friends, but cats are not. Kindrow is leash-trained, knows basic commands, and is highly food-motivated, making training easy and fun. He’ll love bonding over learning new tricks! If your days include fishing at the pond, sitting around a firepit, working on the land, taking back-road drives, or just watching the sunset, Kindrow is your perfect match. He even enjoys kicking back to watch your favorite show! We’re happy to test him with anything you need to ensure he’s the right fit. Just ask! Ready to make Kindrow part of your family? We have over 15,000 successful adoptions so far and have excellent Google Reviews: https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success. Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress! Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet. The rescue’s hard costs alone for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,120. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that Three Little Pitties Rescue is not government funded. It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS: ● Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family ● Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test ● 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion ● A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions ● 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription ● Coupons for a fun visit to Petco ● 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions ● Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer ● Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission! Story
Douglas is a sweet 2 yr old Great Dane mix looking for a very special home. His owner had to move cross country due to an emergency, and he is in the care of a friend who loves him but cannot keep him due to his size and his needs. It’s important to note that he has previously exhibited reactive behaviors towards other dogs or people, so he needs a home that is willing to work with him. Currently he is improving! He is goofy, sweet, intelligent, cuddly and energetic. He smart & can be prone to boredom behaviors, so he would do well with lots of activity. He can be a great hiking companion but is also content to nap beside you; he needs intellectual stimulation like puzzles and tasks more than he needs to get tired out with walks. His perfect owner would be an experienced owner of large breed & reactive dogs, who has a lot of time & patience to dedicate to him, ideally home a lot Maybe you have land where he can run. He should be the only dog, at least for now. No kids please.
