Story
Hello there, I'm Franklin! I'm as sweet as a sugar cookie and friendly as your best pal. My heart is full of gentle kindness and cuddly warmth. I'm always ready for a belly rub or a good old game of fetch. I'm loyal too, like a true companion. I promise to be there for you, through thick and thin, always wagging my tail in joy. I may be living in a shelter now, but what I really want is a forever home. Why should you adopt me? Well, imagine having a friend who loves you unconditionally, who's always excited to see you, and who can turn even a regular walk into an adventure. That's me, Franklin! If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2231302##

Story
Laker is a black and white Great Dane/Hound mix and her estimated DOB is 12/30/2017. Laker (who also knows the names Mia or Gracie) was adopted from the Haven but returned two years later, not due to any fault of her own, but because her owners were unprepared to train a dog with resource insecurity. You see, Laker gets along with other dogs fairly well, but she really needs her own space away from other dogs in her home, as she's protective of food, toys, and her bed. She'd do best with a free feeder so she can learn that food is not a limited resource. Laker also did excellent with the kids in her previous home and hasn't had any reaction to cats at the shelter! Her ideal forever home will be able to work around her quirks and provide her with her own space, such as a kennel in a separate room, or ideally not have any other dogs! We at the Haven know that this affectionate, loyal girl is absolutely worth it! All of our pets are fixed, up to date on their vaccinations, and microchipped. The Haven of the Ozarks is open from 9am-4pm, seven days a week. For more information, please email us at havenozarksanctuary@gmail.com, or give us a call at 417-835-3647.

Story
I got her from a friend back in July who had to rehome her due to a baby. She is the sweetest dog and is the typical Great Dane personality, scared of everything, big baby doesn't realize shes 80 lbs she was born 1/16/24 according to her vet records. She should have a fenced in yard. She does well with other dogs and kids my son is newly allergic to dogs, she does well with both of them (12 and 7) She is not fully potty trained yet which what I’ve read is normal for Danes and a yard or large place to play and run would help expedite it as who I got her from had a fenced in yard. she does not have accidents in her crate even when I’ve had to keep her in there for 12 hours. I do have 2 crates to go with her. She is honestly a sweetheart and just wants attention. She’s also still very much a puppy and loves cuddling. I have never seen any bit of aggression towards anyone or anything at all from her. Any questions feel free to ask and I will be 100% honest.

Story
I found Whiskey and his 9 siblings on a very busy road in the country, talked around to neighbors and found the “owners” who were just feeding them but not keeping them contained. So, I rescued the whole litter and working on getting them all UTD on vaccinations, spay/neuter, wellness exam, heartworm neg. and microchipped. Every single one of the pups are SO SO sweet and docile! They are all living in my backyard with adequate shelter during this time. Looking for rescue or direct adoption.

Story
Grover is an Anatolian Shepherd mix who came to us as a stray in March 2022. He was terrified and didn`t know anyone or where he was going. He got some much needed TLC from our staff and his confidence has since grown tremendously. He is more outgoing, treat motivated, and LOVES to hang out with staff at the front desk. He thinks he is a lap dog and can easily be found in someone`s lap or in a chair of his own! Grover is looking for a home with no kids and no other pets, as he wants to be your only baby! He is so loving and just needs time to adjust to a new home and environment. He needs a family that will give him time and have patience with him while he is settling into his new home. He is so loyal and will love you forever!

Story
Lennon is a fun and sociable dog! She`s a 2-year-old Anatolian Shepherd mix. Lennon is very playful and sweet, in addition to being dog-friendly. We recommend a dog meet and greet with any dogs you currently own just to ensure they get along. She is older kid-friendly (ages 12+), and it`s unknown how she is with cats. Her ideal home includes a backyard or space where she can play, but it`s not required. Lennon was found as a stray, and she`s craving a forever home she can be spoiled in! She`s house-trained and ready to join your household.
