Story
Meet Argus! This super sweet boy is a 6 month old great dane who is looking for his forever home. He can be timid at first, as he came from a commercial breeder, but he wants nothing but love and attention. He gives the best cuddles, and follows his fosters everywhere. He loves pig ears, chicken feet, and turkey. He is house and kennel trained. He is learning about the outside world, does okay on a leash but does need reassurance that it's okay. Once he gets going on his walk, he settles into a nice rhythm and enjoys all the sights and smells. He is dog friendly, and would love a confident peer dog to show him the ropes. He would do best in a home without small children, as his size could easily hurt a small child when he's running and bouncing around. His adoption fee is 400$. This covers cost of neuter, microchip, rabies vaccine, 4 rounds of distemper/parvo, 2 rounds of leptospirosis vaccine, multiple rounds of dewormer, bordetella vaccine, and has been on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.

Story
Dixie is a is 2 1/2 and sweet as can be. I cannot physically or financially take care of her. This is so hard to do but I am giving birth at the end of December and have already had complications with my pregnancy. Dixie absolutely loves to cuddle and would choose that over anything else in the world. She also loves to be completely covered up in the bed. The only thing that I have not been able to control is her being nervous and if she thinks she is in any trouble (which she never is) she will pee a little. But she goes out in the yard to use the restroom. I have only had her on a leash maybe 5 times in her life because she won’t leave our side or our unfenced yard. She loves to play with her toys even if that means just holding it in her mouth and pretending someone pretending to take it.

Story
Hi there! I’m Moose! I was homeless for a very long time, but was adopted about a year ago. I thought this was it, that I'd found my forever home and I was so, so happy! Unfortunately, the person who said she would love me forever and ever decided to move and now I'm homeless again. I have a proposition for you, though--I promise to be your best friend forever and remain loyal and true to you if you'll make me your "for real" forever boy. I've gotten a little older (I'm nine very handsome years old now, to be precise) and I'm still a big boy. But please don’t let my size intimidate you. It just means my heart is bigger! The truth is, I am a very well-behaved boy who is just really looking forward to being part of a family. I sure hope my family sees this and wants to meet me. I’m already neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated, and I can have my bags packed to go home with you in no time! I may be a big boy, but I travel light! But the best thing I can offer is that I come with a lifetime of unconditional love. Everyone needs that, right? I am also a very treat-motivated guy. What can I say, I love my food! Being treat-motivated will actually help me learn new things. I already know the commands, “sit,” and “down,” but I would love to learn more. Would you like to help me learn new things? No one knows for certain my past, from before I came to The Pet Connection, because I haven’t shared it all with them, and I don’t really like to dwell on it. But I will tell you that I can be a bit scared of strangers and a bit selective about my doggy friends. Let’s see, what else . . . oh yeah, I also love to play with toys—especially the ones that squeak! Squeaky toys are THE BEST! I am house-trained and crate-trained, too. Oh, AND I like to sit on the riding lawn mower. That’s normal, right? Don’t most dogs like to sit on riding lawn mowers? But it’s really ok if you don’t have a riding lawn mower; I can be flexible about that. So, are you looking for a well-behaved boy with a big heart? If so, will you please come meet me? To make a pet connection, call/text The Pet Connection at (913) 671-7387. I'm staying with them in Beloit, Kansas, but I would totally be on board with hitching a ride to my new home.

Story
This handsome fellow is Max. He's a big boy, 100 pounds, and only a year old. His foster mom thinks he's a Great Dane/Labrador mix. He's a big, happy puppy, so he has plenty of energy and a short attention span. Max is also very sweet and lovable. Max loves kids but gets so darned excited that he knocks the little ones over, which they understandably don't enjoy. He's done fine with kids 10 years old and up, though. He's a rough-and-tumble player, so we think cats and small dogs would not appreciate living with Max. Medium and large dogs who like to play? Yes, please! Max gets along great with the shepherd/husky and Great Pyrenees in his foster home. Max likes to eat things. When he was found by his foster in a ditch, Max weighed only 42 pounds and was near death with SIX socks in his stomach. It took months to nurse him back to health and he barely made it. He's not messing around with his goal to consume everything he can get his mouth on, so to keep Max safe, he wears a basket muzzle when not supervised. He doesn't mind it one bit! Max has been neutered and is current on his vaccines and heartworm prevention. He's also kennel- and house-trained. Call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 if you're interested in giving this fabulous boy a forever home. He's in the KC metro.

Story
Hi. My name is Barnabus. I’m a little shy at first with new people and new pet friends. Due to this I would do best in a home without little kiddos. I don’t chew on things I’m not supposed to, however, I will take food things off the counter. I am good with going into my kennel. My most favorite thing to do is lay in the couch and watch the rabbit play in her cage. In the mornings when my foster Mom goes outside I howl. Not real loud but enough for her to hear me, and I watch her out the window. I enjoy walks but sometimes I like to walk faster than my foster Mom. When she lightly tugs on the leash I slow down and look at her.Barnabus is currently living in a foster home. If you would like to learn more about him or meet him, please email foster@kcpetproject.org.
