If you are interested in adopting this dog,  please fill out an Adoption Questionnaire at  https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/43315/generic.  You can learn about the adoption process by visiting: http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/howtoadopt/.  Dog's Name:   Bogie  (BOG0523OWSMN)Estimated Breed:   Pointer / Great Dane MIXApproximate Age:   7 yearsApproximate Weight:  94 lbsCurrently Living at:   BoardingAdoption Fee:   $400DOG'S DESCRIPTION:  Bogie was adopted from us as a puppy. His owner had to move and could not take him with her. He lived a lot of his life in Florida but is now back in the DMV. Bogie can by quite the character! He loves toys and people but would prefer to be your one and only. Meaning, he wants to be your only furry friend. Bogie will keep you lauging with his antics and would love for you to be his forever home. Bogie is very large and would do best with someone who is familiar with his breed or large breeds. Please consider bringing Bogie into your home!Given his size and energy level, we reccomend a home without small children. A nice yard is a must. This will provide him with the space he needs to romp and play to his heart's content. Bogey needs to learn boundaries and personal space with other dogs and he would really benefit from a home that can provide him with training and guidance in socializing with his canine friends.Bogey's affectionate nature and goofball personality makes him a wonderful potential family member for the right household. It's clear that he just needs someone who understands his needs and breed, and is willing to provide the necessary guidance and training to ensure he thrives in a new home. If someone is willing to give him a chance, they will be rewarded with a loyal and entertaining companion.Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.       Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.Dolly has large Great Dane genes grafted onto a somewhat smaller body. Not that anyone would ever call her small, but you would say she's a manageable size, which is perfect. If you love the Dane look, but aren't sure you could handle a full size model, we have Dolly waiting for you. She is currently only 60 lbs., but that is a bit deceiving, as she is very underweight. We would like to see at least 15 lbs. more on her ribs and we are working on it. She is now getting top quality groceries, something she has never had before. Still a young dog, at only about 2 years old, she is in the process of learning about how to deal with the world around her and she is learning fast. Her foster has some comments to help you understand this 'dog-in-progress. 'She’s nervous around new people and things. She does warm up after a bit. Her initial reaction to people that she doesn’t know is to low growl. She is trying to tell everyone to give her a moment to process the new information. I don’t recommend a house with cats or small animals. She’ tries to chase down all the birds,  and squirrels when we’re outside. I’m fairly confident her life prior to rescue wasn’t a good one. It's heartbreaking seeing a good dog trying to cope with a world she was never shown. UPDATE:I have had her for a month now, and she is learning! I took her to the vet today, and while she was nervous, she did not growl. So there has been improvement on that aspect. She wasn’t super outgoing and wanting everyone’s attention, so definitely stand by the slower to warm up to strangers. I highly suspect she’s been abused. She is highly intelligent and learns new things really fast.  She really has the potential to be an excellent dog, and wants to be loved and please her person. MORE UPDATE: Since being here at my house over a month now I have some new insights into her. She is not dog friendly with all dogs.  She's OK with my male dog, but not so happy with my female.  I've been working on getting her to ignore people on walks and she's doing better. She doesn't like it if strangers get to close when we are out.  In the yard. she's definitely going to need at least a 6 foot fence to keep her safely secured.  I will say, she is house trained and does let you know when she needs to go out. She also does very well in her kennel. She is very smart, and can learn things pretty quickly. She has all her shots and is ready and waiting for the person or family who like bigger dogs, but aren't ready for an actual Goliath. Dolly is a good girl! She is hoping you will want to help her be a good dog and come for her soon.   If you are interested in Dolly, please fill out an application at: https://reachoutrescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=4588    Or contact: rorrcanine@gmail.com   *** Click here to sponsor this dog! ***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 5:13 pm

Story
Dobby is a big goofball who just loves people!   He is a volunteer favorite - to meet him is to love him.  This guy is sweet and friendly to everyone, kids included. He wants to give kisses to every person he meets, and be snuggled close to you at home.  Dobby is SO EASY in the home!  He is polite, housebroken, and knows a ton of commands.  He will relax most of the day and is accustomed to being in a crate.  When you come to let him out he smiles and wags his tail.  As an "older" fella at about 4 1/2 years, he does not need a ton of exercise and is happy to get walked.  He’s 5 years old and 69 pounds of affection (and maybe could stand to shed a few more). We suspect he is a Great Dane / terrier mix.    Dobby enjoys playing. He especially loves tug of war and fetch - he'll bring the toy back to you and expect you to tug on it for a couple of seconds, but once you tell him "Leave it" he’ll let go and start the game again. When playtime is over he has no problem calming down. He is very treat motivated, but he has no food aggression, so he will take any size treat from your hand gently.  He would love to sleep at the foot of your bed but he's perfectly happy in his own bed, especially if it’s placed in front of a door or window.  He can be dog selective so he is better as an only dog. PAW will support any adopter with some training to ensure Dobby gets off to a good start in their home. PAW places animals in the Washington, DC/Baltimore Metropolitan area only. ##1127125##

Story
Charlie is a handsome and endearing young man! His eyes will reel you in and his sweet demeanor will have you hooked. According to his foster he is a "velcro dog" always wanting to be with his person and to snuggle. He is curious and confident about exploring but doesn't mind going into his crate.  A sweet soul who is good with all he meets, Charlie would make a great family dog. He loves people and attaches easily. His high energy makes him a great playmate for kids and other dogs alike. He is a medium-large dog at 56 pounds, but he is thin, almost full grown, and will likely fill out rather than grow taller. Charlie came to PAW with his two siblings and it is evident that he has grown up in a sibling-environment in that he loves to run and play! He does, however, love to slow down and snuggle with his person. Charlie is a perfect combination of energy and attachment. ##2333491##

Story
At 58 pounds, Lacey is large and lovely, and her size is matched by her loving heart and desire to please. She is a sweet and loving puppy who is still getting used to her long legs and generous size. "Sweet and beautiful" is how Lacey's foster describes her. Lacey loves people and other dogs and her puppy energy makes her a perfect playmate for both. Lacey enjoys walks and is learning to walk on leash. She is curious and enjoys being exposed to new and different environments. She is engaged and willing to go wherever her person wants, be it on leash or in the car. Not quite one year old, everything is new and fun for Lacey! Once Lacey's puppy energy is exhausted, she loves to find a rug or warm spot on the floor or in her crate to curl up for a nap. She is a people person, she loves to snuggle, and she loves being cuddled and pet. Lacey is looking for a home where she can be loved and engaged, and where she will continue to have adventures and learn about the fun and interesting world around her. ##2333555##
