Story
It’s Dobby, the big boy with a big heart! He’s 5 years old and 77 pounds of affection (including a few extra he could stand to shed). We suspect he is a Great Dane / terrier mix. This guy is sweet and friendly to everyone, kids included. He wants to give kisses to every person he meets, and be snuggled close to you at home.  Dobby is SO EASY in the home!  He is polite, housebroken, and knows a ton of commands.  He will relax most of the day and is accustomed to being in a crate.  When you come to let him out he smiles and wags his tail.  As an "older" fella he does not need a ton of exercise and is happy to get walked. Dobby enjoys loves playing. He especially loves tug of war and fetch - he'll bring the toy back to you and expect you to tug on it for a couple of seconds, but once you tell him "Leave it" he’ll let go and start the game again. When playtime is over he has no problem calming down. He is very treat motivated and will do anything for a treat, but he has no food aggression, so he will take any size treat from your hand gently.  He would love to sleep at the foot of your bed but he's perfectly happy in his own bed, especially if it’s placed in front of a door or window.  He can be dog selective so he is better as an only dog. PAW will support any adopter with some training to ensure Dobby gets off to a good start in their home. PAW places animals in the Washington, DC/Baltimore Metropolitan area only. ##1127125##

I’m in a foster home! To adopt me, email my foster parent at terrymark728@gmail.com.Are you looking for someone incredibly tall, dark, and handsome-- someone that will be totally devoted? How about with a great sense of humor? Look no further- Ollie is your man! He is a loving, silly, 6-year-old Great Dane who just wants to spend time with you. His favorite things include: long slow walks with lots of sniffing, any kind of vegetable in his food, cuddling really close in bed, and romping around the yard. He would prefer not to be alone for too long but does well with an established routine. He would thrive with another dog around to show him the ropes but would do best in a home without cats. Ollie is a very good boy waiting for you!

Story
We are so excited to be a part of changing the future for this handsome male Great Dane called Neville.  Recently we were asked to help this one year old fawn colored boy to find a home and to do all the vetting from the ground up. You see, Neville was orphaned at birth when his momma died and he was hand- raised and fed by a woman who dearly loved him and still does. Eventually, she realized she was overwhelmed due to his size and the future of caring for him (she was a senior lady)  and sadly she surrendered him to Critter Cavalry Rescue.   Soon our foster mom who has two Great Danes herself, quickly figured out that Neville had only been around his Great Dane dad and siblings all his life and it was a sight to behold when he met the variety of dogs at this new foster home.  Neville tucked his tail and ran with sheer fright! He has since embraced all the foster dogs, cats, horses, donkeys and pigs as his friends. This special boy doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. And if you know the Dane breed traits, he is all of those and more.  He loves to run and play with all his new dog friends and we think he believes he has died and gone to dog heaven with all these friends to play with. Eager to please, Neville is the happiest when he puts his huge head in your lap to absorb all the love from his foster mom.  He loves to be petted and told how good a boy he really is. He is still a wee bit timid of new things and he will seek out a kind human to lean on for reassurance that all is well.   He is not in the house 24/7, but close to being housebroken all the same.  He has been neutered and we talked his stomach for the prevention of stomach flipping later in life.  This common malady effects the large breed dogs in high numbers and the reality of it happening is huge.  It is costly and often how large dogs end up in the ER at the expense of well over $5000 with no guarantee that the emergency surgery will save the dog.   We try to give this all-important insurance by tacking the stomach to help prevent any future flipping of the stomach.  We know that Neville will be the love of some family’s life if he is chosen.  We will require a fenced yard and someone that does not leave him 8-9 hours daily for work.  Shorter work hours away are fine, but he will be lonely if left crated for 8-9 hours. If you are interested in this giant lovebug please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com   He is worth every penny donated to adopt him.  You will see that instantly. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.November 14, 2024, 10:09 pm

His enthusiasm for people, playing, and hugging makes him a real "Mr. Personality." He enjoys attention and soft toys, brings joy and laughter to everyone he meets!Given his size and energy level,we reccomend a home without small children. A nice yard is a must. This will provide him with the space he needs to romp and play to his heart's content. Bogey needs to learn boundaries and personal space with other dogs and he would really benefit from a home that can provide him with training and guidance in socializing with his canine friends.Bogey's affectionate nature and goofball personality makes him a wonderful potential family member for the right household. It's clear that he just needs someone who understands his needs and breed, and is willing to provide the necessary guidance and training to ensure he thrives in a new home. If someone is willing to give him a chance, they will be rewarded with a loyal and entertaining companion. Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.       Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. Story
Hi there! I’m Raid! I’m a 2-year-old handsome fella, and I’m a Great Dane and German Shepherd mix. Yep, I’m big — like, extra-large big — at a solid 109 pounds! But don’t let my size fool you. I’m a big ol’ softie at heart, with a lot of love to give. I’ve got a gorgeous gray/black merle coat that turns heads wherever I go. I’m kind of a showstopper, if you ask me! I ended up here because my previous owner had to make some tough decisions due to life changes, and unfortunately, that meant I needed a new home. I’m originally from South Carolina, where I spent my first couple of years getting the hang of life. I’m all caught up on my health stuff — I’m heartworm negative, I’m already neutered, and I’ve had my recent rabiesvaccination. I’m still a young pup, so I’ve got plenty of energy to enjoy walks, playtime, and cuddle sessions.I might be big, but I’ve got a sweet and gentle demeanor that makes me the perfect companion for a family who can handle my size (and my big heart). I’m also a big goofball, and I absolutely love playing with other dogs—male or female. I’m the life of the playgroup, and I’ll happily join in on any game. I don’t quite realize just how big I am, though. I think I’m 20 pounds! So when I’m playing with other dogs or toys, I can get a little goofy and clumsy (but that’s just part of my charm!). Some of the volunteers who walk me tell me I’m their favorite because I’m just so goofy. I’m a sweet boy who loves people, including kids, and I get along great with everyone I meet. I’m definitely a people dog and just want to be with you, whether it’s playing, walking, or just hanging out. Now when it comes to cats....things don't always go so well. I think they’re just like the other dogs, so I try to play with them, but they don’t seem to like it much (oops!). No aggressive tendencies, though—I just want to play! I’m looking for a home where I can stretch my long legs, get lots of attention, and become a part of a new family who’ll love me as much as I’ll love them. So, if you’re looking for a loving, goofy, and good-natured buddy who’s always ready to stand by your side, then I’m your guy. I promise I’ll fill your life with joy, and you’ll get lots of sloppy, big-dog hugs. Come meet me — I’m waiting for my forever home! ##2230413##

DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Captain is 2-1/2yo, weighs 130lbs, is neutered, is up to date on his vaccines, and is microchipped.  He fears/dislikes hats/voluminous hair/bulky clothing.  During the day, Captain is loose inside the home; he's crated in the main bedroom at night.  He can sit in a car, but doesn't like it, and will start to drool. Captain's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome him: "Captain is a very sweet gentle giant but he has very many Great Pyrenees traits and needs to be in a farm or farm like environment. We live in a small house with no land and due to his mix being pyrenees dominant rather than dane, we cannot provide him with the environment he needs." Lunge Incident:  Within the past 10 days, Captain lunged at a neighbor in his yard in Frederick, MD; no bite occurred, so the skin wasn't broken; animal control wasn't involved.  Captain's guardian explains:    " Captain lunged at my neighbor due to her approaching inappropriately in my property without him having been alerted first.  The incident was situational.  After having discussed with trainer it was determined that Captain was only trying to protect his “flock” as he is meant to be a flock guardian.  This is what led us to decide he needs to be in a farm.  The place we live is simply not suited to a dog of this nature." Captain's guardian states the following regarding children:  Since Captain hasn't lived with children, his guardian doesn't recommend his living with children, stating  "Captain gets excited around children but I would not recommend he live with children due to his size and playfulness.  He likes contact play and could easily harm a child just due to his size."   Captain's guardiann states the following regarding dogs:  Since Captain has lived with dogs, his guardian recommends his living with dogs, stating "Captain LOVES animals.  He is very playful with other dogs." Captain's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Since Captain has lived with cats, his guardian recommends his living with cats, stating "Mostly indifferent, sometimes if the cat engages". Captain's guardian describes him as: Very active Barks alot Playful Independent Protective House-Trained Crate-Trained Likes men Likes women Captain's guardian describes his ideal future home:  " We would love for Captain to be placed in a farm and be able to live out his best flock guardian dreams.  A home filled with animals and a lot of land to roam would be ideal."
