Story
She has a lot of energy. I am a single mom and I have to work a lot. I cannot walk her enough and I do not have a yard. She needs more attention. She is sweet. Non aggressive. She will bark at strangers but has never even shown any aggression toward a person, child, or another dog. She will in fact roll on her stomach if approached by another dog. She is three. I keep trying to make it work, but I feel bad for Courtney because it’s not fair to her. She would be less energetic if she was walked more. The Great Dane side of her needs it.

Because of the past, she is unsure of strangers. But once she knows she can trust you, she is a wonderful girl. She would need a home without kids. She does ok with some dogs but not sure about cats. She is crate trained and is doing very well with learning manners. Please help us make room to save more homeless pets!!! Adopting from Hope Rescues saves the life of two.. the one you adopt and the one your adoption makes room for. We are a Rescue which means we physically go and save lives. Hope pulls animals on their last day of life from animal control facilities that still use the inhumane gas chamber to put to death homeless pets. Clay County Animal Rescue & Shelter is located at 375 Water Elm Lane, Flora, IL. Our phone number is 618-665-3005.  We are renovating our shelter so hours are by appointment only.  The typical adoption fee for dogs is $150.  It includes vaccination, deworming , spay/neuter, heartworm testing on dogs of age and microchipping, which is now mandatory by state law.  Some dogs we discount to as little as $50 due to sponsorship.  Some dogs we ask a higher adoption fee, which helps us recoup expenses on heartworm treatment on other dogs. All cats are spayed/neutered/vaccinated/flea treated/dewormed and microchipped prior to adoption.  Cat adoption fees range from $60-$100.  We spay/neuter/microchip/vaccinate and deworm all kittens and cats, prior to adoption.  Our shyer/less adoptable cats are classed as "barn cats" and are free with a completed/approved barn cat application, which can be found on our website. For updates on adoption events and more pics of pets available, go to our website, www.claycountyshelter.com or look for us on Facebook.   August 7, 2024, 12:15 am
