Story
Meet Bubbles, a sweet and playful 1-year-old Lab/Great Dane/Hound mix with a stunning white coat and a heart as big as her paws! Weighing 60 lbs, she still thinks she's a lap dog and loves cuddling up with you. Bubbles adores winter frolics, especially when playing with her two resident beagle pals, and her gentle, energetic nature makes her perfect for a family that enjoys outdoor fun and cozy evenings. Housebroken and well-mannered, Bubbles gets along great with other dogs. She would thrive in an active home with plenty of space—ideally a fenced yard—and lots of love. Please note, chases cats pretty relentlessly. Bubbles is spayed, up-to-date on her vaccinations, and ready to find her forever family. Could that be you? If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! Clicking the "Start your Inquiry" button is internal to Petfinder, and will only delay the process - please copy the link and submit the application. The adoption fee of $300 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Story
We are heartbroken to surrender Rory but she does not get along with our other dog. We took her from a friend’s neighbor who got her during Covid and decided then decided she was too much when they went back to work. We had always had big dogs but got them as puppies so training was easier. She is very sweet and just wants to be loved. However, she does not like other dogs! Would be great for a home with no other dogs or small children - she doesn’t know how big she is! She is microchipped, spayed and tucked. No health issues. We are willing to drive her to a good home and will provide her crate and toys :)

Hi, I'm Apollo! I was dumped at a local shelter when my owner didn't want me anymore because he was moving. I was recovered by TTDR. I am a super friendly and sweet boy who is great with other dogs and older kids too. I love to hike and play. I am up to date on vaccines, neutered and microchipped. I am currently being fostered in the Chicago south suburbs. My adoption fee has been sponsored. I can't wait to meet you soon!

Story
Say hello to Gus! A stunning, handsome, regal and friendly male Great Dane. He weighs in at 155 lbs and was born 12/17/22. So he’s just a little over 2 years old. He is mostly black in color mixed in with white and black speckles. Gus is on the timid side and would love nothing more than to have all the humans to love on and to love on him. He has not met anyone he doesn’t adore and will follow them around all day long. He’s happy laying at your feet or on the couch next to you, with his head in your lap. Or on the kitchen floor so you don’t get lonely while you’re cooking or cleaning. He really is the best dog buddy ever. He will bark to let you know of anyone walking by the house but is not an overly excessive barker. Gus travels well in an SUV, is housebroken and crate trained. He loves, loves, loves people of all ages. But due to his size and exuberance, we will not adopt him to a home with children under the age of 10. Currently Gus has 2 Great Dane friends in his foster home. Initially he was nervous around them and was demonstrating some unwanted behavior towards them. It appeared he had previously had less than positive interactions with other dogs and he was being defensive. He’s settling in nicely and under close supervision (which is always recommended with a new dog) they are all getting along well. Gus just needs slow intro’s and time to adjust. But he would do wonderfully as an only dog and would make the best companion to any human! He loves going on walks and walks so nicely on a leash. Squirrels will trigger him (but he says what dog likes those critters anyway), but other dogs or people on walks don’t bother him. Gus sleeps great all night long on the floor next to his human’s bed. He has great house manners and is not destructive. He does get a little nervous when you leave but if in a crate, he lays down and naps while you’re away. Local adoptions only. We do not adopt out of the state of Illinois. Gus is being fostered in a private home. Appointments to meet him will be set up for approved adopters only. His adoption fee is $500 which includes all age appropriate vaccines. He is neutered, microchipped and Heartworm negative. He has also been kept on both flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. Please visit our website and fill out an application if you are interested. http://newstartdogrescue.org
