Say hello to Gus! A stunning, handsome, regal and friendly male Great Dane. He weighs in at 155 lbs and was born 12/17/22. So he’s just a little over 2 years old. He is mostly black in color mixed in with white and black speckles. Gus is on the timid side and would love nothing more than to have all the humans to love on and to love on him. He has not met anyone he doesn’t adore and will follow them around all day long. He’s happy laying at your feet or on the couch next to you, with his head in your lap. Or on the kitchen floor so you don’t get lonely while you’re cooking or cleaning. He really is the best dog buddy ever. He will bark to let you know of anyone walking by the house but is not an overly excessive barker. Gus travels well in an SUV, is housebroken and crate trained. He loves, loves, loves people of all ages. But due to his size and exuberance, we will not adopt him to a home with children under the age of 10. Currently Gus has 2 Great Dane friends in his foster home. Initially he was nervous around them and was demonstrating some unwanted behavior towards them. It appeared he had previously had less than positive interactions with other dogs and he was being defensive. He’s settling in nicely and under close supervision (which is always recommended with a new dog) they are all getting along well. Gus just needs slow intro’s and time to adjust. But he would do wonderfully as an only dog and would make the best companion to any human! He loves going on walks and walks so nicely on a leash. Squirrels will trigger him (but he says what dog likes those critters anyway), but other dogs or people on walks don’t bother him. Gus sleeps great all night long on the floor next to his human’s bed. He has great house manners and is not destructive. He does get a little nervous when you leave but if in a crate, he lays down and naps while you’re away. Local adoptions only. We do not adopt out of the state of Illinois. Gus is being fostered in a private home. Appointments to meet him will be set up for approved adopters only. His adoption fee is $500 which includes all age appropriate vaccines. He is neutered, microchipped and Heartworm negative. He has also been kept on both flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. Meet Geeno (AKA Grandpa Gee)— Geeno is an extra large and extra special, senior Great Dane who is looking for a special home. He found himself at animal control after rummaging through neighborhood trash cans, eating anything and everything just to survive. He was a sad and emaciated 113 pounds when he came in (when we believe he should be closer to 150-160 pounds when fully healthy). He is also missing an eye which is believed to be caused by an old injury; but it is now healed and does not cause him any pain. He does have a large amount of skin tags but the bothersome one`s have been surgically removed. He was also recently neutered and had a dental done.Geeno is currently fostered with two other dogs and while he gets along well with his foster brothers (after slow introductions), what he would love more than anything is to be your one and only. You’ve got attention to give, and well, Geeno wants ALL of it. He’s a true velcro dog who is loving, loyal, and committed to never leaving his person`s side. A fenced in yard is a requirement for this handsome guy, because although he’s a senior, he’s certainly got some spunk to him and loves having the room to run and stretch out those long legs of his! While he does currently have spunk to him, we are also looking for a home with no stairs as his back legs are slowly beginning to weaken and we want to keep him as comfortable as possible. He will remain on gabapentin for life (at the adopters expense). Geeno is potty trained, crate trained, and rides nicely in the car. He is just an overall LOVER boy who will gladly make himself comfortable in your lap, bed, and home. LOCAL TN ADOPTION ONLY. The good.....He is kennel trained. Goes in very easily with treats. Will run right in if a treat is thrown in there. Will bark for a few minutes but settles. If he’s in a crate, in a room alone and he hears a lot of commotion, he will bark. If you’ve left and the house is quiet, he’s quiet. He’s great in the kennel if someone is in the same room with him though. He likes being with his people. He happily snoozes in an open kennel during the day if you’re working from home and the kennel is near your work area.Scooby is a goof! There’s not much he takes too seriously. Besides treats. Treats are serious business! He will do just about anything for a treat. Even stuff he really doesn’t want to do. But treats are life. He’s overall an easy dog that is sweet, happy, cuddly and isn’t overly energetic. He loves playing and is a bulldozer but he relaxes and naps a lot too. He doesn’t require mass amounts of exercise. He is more than happy to lounge around in bed and watch tv with his humans. The bad...He snores. It’s not quiet...He hates small dogs, if your neighbor has one he will make it his life"s mission to eradicate it. He is generally good on a leash until aforementioned small dog walks up, then he will happily chill with you while you recover from your rotator cuff repair.
