Story
Henry is a 1.5 year old male golden mix with thick, soft fur. He weighs about 50 lbs and is good with dogs his size or smaller. He is crate trained, house broken and walks well on the leash but can be head shy and awkward with the leash.
Because Henry needs slower and gentle introductions, we believe he would do best in a home with older children. He is very friendly and sweet once he gets to know people but requires a gentle hand to give him the confidence to welcome new friends.
Henry has spent the last year in what he thought was his forever home. Circumstances changed due to no fault of his own and he was surrendered to us so that he would not go back to the shelter for euthanasia. He did spend some time at the shelter when he was about six months old and they were none too kind. He was injured on several occasions and then became scared.
Henry has come a long way since then and we promised him that he would never see shelter life again! He needs love and lots of patience. He likes routines and needs to feel safe. Henry loves his crate and enjoys his meals and treats inside. In his former home, the crate door was left open so he slept on the bed for awhile but always went back to his crate...his safe place.
Interested in becoming this pup’s forever home? For immediate consideration, please fill out our online adoption application: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html This is the first step in our process, and we DO NOT go any further without an application.
If there are multiple dogs that you are interested in, please fill out an application for each dog. This does not include bonded pairs, one application will be fine. We have different adoption coordinators working with different dogs, and your application may be missed if you only apply once.
Find more adoptable pets, news and information on Instagram @friendswithfourpaws or our Facebook page Friends with Four Paws .
We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them and you. Please do not submit an application if you are not serious about adopting.
We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and the perfect forever home for our dogs. We appreciate you working with us.
Our adoption fees cover spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses.
All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed.
Thank you in advance for your patience with our process and for making adoption YOUR option!
