Meet Lassie—the sweetest, most beautiful girl who has already overcome so much in her young life. Lassie is a 1.5-year-old Golden Retriever/Australian Shepherd mix, rescued from a heartbreaking situation in Marion County, South Carolina. Tragically, she was shot at with a dart gun, a traumatic experience that left her wounded and frightened. When we found her, she was in desperate need of help. Her wound required debridement, and she was placed on an intensive course of antibiotics to help her heal.
Despite such a rough start, Lassie’s spirit shines through. Her early life was filled with hardship, so she’s understandably cautious in new environments, taking a little time to feel safe and comfortable. But once she opens up, she reveals her sweet, affectionate nature. Lassie finds comfort in the company of other dogs and would thrive in a home where she has a canine friend to help her feel secure. She also does wonderfully with kids and even cats…her gentle personality makes her a perfect family companion.
Lassie loves to go on long walks and has just discovered the joy of playing with toys—a luxury she never knew before. She’s also housebroken, enjoys cuddling up to her foster family, and finds peace in the simple comfort of a cozy spot to curl up in. At a perfect 36 pounds fully grown, Lassie is ready to leave her past behind and find a family that will show her the love and care she truly deserves.
Lassie is spayed, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and microchipped.

HFG Dog Rescue is a 100 percent foster-based rescue located in Berkeley Heights, NJ with a sister location, The Almost Home Wellness Center, in Aiken, SC. All of our dogs are rescued from kill shelters in SC + GA and once ready for adoption live in loving local NJ foster homes until they find forever families of their own. Our fosters begin basic training, housebreaking, and leash-walking skills to help pair you with the perfect pup for life!
