Lassie is a 1.5-year-old Golden Retriever/Australian Shepherd mix, rescued from a heartbreaking situation in Marion County, South Carolina. Tragically, she was shot at with a dart gun, a traumatic experience that left her wounded and frightened. When we found her, she was in desperate need of help. Her wound required debridement, and she was placed on an intensive course of antibiotics to help her heal. Despite such a rough start, Lassie’s spirit shines through. Her early life was filled with hardship, so she’s understandably cautious in new environments, taking a little time to feel safe and comfortable. But once she opens up, she reveals her sweet, affectionate nature. Lassie finds comfort in the company of other dogs and would thrive in a home where she has a canine friend to help her feel secure. She also does wonderfully with kids and even cats…her gentle personality makes her a perfect family companion. Lassie loves to go on long walks and has just discovered the joy of playing with toys—a luxury she never knew before. She’s also housebroken, enjoys cuddling up to her foster family, and finds peace in the simple comfort of a cozy spot to curl up in. Zorro is a 4-month-old, 35lb Golden Retriever/German Shepherd mix with a heart full of love! This sweet pup is friendly with other dogs and would do well in a home with furry siblings. He is currently learning the ropes of leash walking and going to the bathroom outside. Zorro making great strides with his "sit command. He's eager to please and ready to continue his training with a family that can provide him with plenty of playtime, exercise, and love. Some of his favorite things are laps, long walks, squishy toys and treats. If you're looking for the biggest lover that is so squishy and soft, Zorro might be the right pup for you. Henry is a 1.5 year old male golden mix with thick, soft fur. He weighs about 50 lbs and is good with dogs his size or smaller. He is crate trained, house broken and walks well on the leash but can be head shy and awkward with the leash. Because Henry needs slower and gentle introductions, we believe he would do best in a home with older children. He is very friendly and sweet once he gets to know people but requires a gentle hand to give him the confidence to welcome new friends. Henry has spent the last year in what he thought was his forever home. Circumstances changed due to no fault of his own and he was surrendered to us so that he would not go back to the shelter for euthanasia. He did spend some time at the shelter when he was about six months old and they were none too kind. He was injured on several occasions and then became scared. Henry has come a long way since then and we promised him that he would never see shelter life again! He needs love and lots of patience. He likes routines and needs to feel safe. Henry loves his crate and enjoys his meals and treats inside. In his former home, the crate door was left open so he slept on the bed for awhile but always went back to his crate...his safe place. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed.
