Story
Missy is a 1 1/2 year old Golden Retriever. She is the sweetest dog with such a sweet and calm personality. We bought her originally for our kids and as a family dog, but with us working full time/ long hours and our kids still being young, we haven’t been able to give this sweet girl as much time as she needed. As she is still young, we want to help her find a new forever home that can spoil her as she needs to be. She has not been spayed yet due to personal expenses and honestly, it has become very hard for us to care for her the last few months. She does seem to get along with dogs but not sure on all dogs. We ultimately just want a great home and hope that whoever does adopt her, would be willing to give us updates occasionally just to check in. If you would like further information please don’t hesitate to ask and tell us a little about yourself. This isn’t easy for us, but at the time, this is the best decision for our family.

Story
Meet Jake, the resilient and loving blonde boy with a heart of gold. Jake's journey began on the streets of a small rural town in Mississippi, where he earned the endearing nickname "The Sonic Dog" for his daily visits to the local fast food joint, spreading joy and receiving treats from the staff and patrons alike. However, Jake's life took a turn when he was discovered walking with a limp and suffering from paraphimosis, a condition where his penis wouldn't retract. A compassionate foster immediately took him in, recognizing his need for urgent medical attention. It was then revealed that Jake had been a victim of violence, having been shot and left with a bullet lodged near his spine, causing nerve damage and urinary/bowel control issues. Thanks to dedicated care and treatment, Jake's health improved, and he found solace in the loving embrace of his foster home. Though he requires assistance with bladder expression every about 4 hours (he is ok overnight), it's a simple procedure (you just press on his belly) that doesn't hinder his zest for life. His bowel control issues are also manageable -- He goes around the same time every day.Despite his past hardships, Jake's spirit remains unbroken. He exudes boundless affection for everyone he meets and cherishes simple pleasures like walks on a leash, basking in the sun, and snuggling with his foster mom on the couch. He is living with and does fantastic with children. While Jake gets along well with female dogs, he may be selective around males due to past experiences. He also values his space during mealtime, likely a remnant of his survival instincts from his time on the streets. He needs to be fed away from other pets and children. Jake's resilient spirit and unwavering love make him an ideal companion for a forever family ready to embrace him with open arms. He's eager to embark on the next chapter of his life, bringing joy and companionship wherever he goes.Name: JakeBreed: Golden Retriever / Lab MixSex: MaleAge: 5 years (estimated)Weight: 55 lbsSpayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: 12+Good with Dogs: Prefers female dogsGood with Cats: NoAdoption Fee: $250.00 (includes transport fee when applicable)Location of dog currently:  MississippiIMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.  Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. This is Spud! Spud is a young, handsome, potato mix breed! Our boy Spud is an absolute ball of energy. Spuds favorite things to do are go for long walks and zoom around the play yard. He enjoys playing tug and fetch and would be a great addition to your family! Spud can get jumpy at times and could use some work on his basic commands. It is best he goes home as the only pet and with adults only! If you are interested in meeting this boy, apply for him on our website!
