Story
Buddy is a sweet 6ish month old, absolute sweetheart of a pup. He was dumped in a field, chained to a crate, with some pretty ugly lacerations from an overly tight collar. Some very kind people freed him from the chain and took him home and contacted us for help. He is now safe & sound in foster care, finished his vetting, and his neck is healing up nicely. Buddy made all kinds of friends at the vet clinic and the staff said he is the best little pup. His foster mom thinks he is pretty great, too. As he continues to get settled in his foster home she will be sure to update his bio. If you're interested in adding this good boy to your household, we'd love to hear from you! Buddy is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. All dogs 6 month + receive a Proheart 6 injection at the time of their heartworm test. This provides heartworm prevention for 6 months from the time of that injection. The adoption fee is $500 which includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccinations, flea/tick and heartworm preventatives, and the mandatory CT HB 5368 fee. This dog tested negative for heartworms. Visit our website to see our weekend Events here! Pups with the designated “meet me” next to their names are in CT and ready to attend adoption events. Please check with your adoption coordinator if you are interested in a specific dog prior to coming to an event, as a dog's availability to attend can change at any time. We can not guarantee approval on site at the events, so we recommend applying ahead of time. You can apply at the event, but the application process may not be able to be completed the same day. If you are not pre-approved, you are still welcome to come and meet pup’s at the event! If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at our Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05. TO APPLY PLEASE GO TO www.cprdogs.com. If your application was successfully submitted you will get a confirmation. Please DO NOT USE the ADOPTAPET "CONTACT THIS RESCUE GROUP" form below or you may not hear from us as these often end up in spam or bouncing back. After receipt of your application, an adoption counselor will then be in touch to answer your questions about this pup, discuss the adoption process and get the ball rolling! If you have not heard from one of our volunteers within 5 days of submitting your application, please email mollibo@gmail.com.

Story
Thank you for your interest in Rocky. A little over a year and he is being treated for Lyme Disease. He's been at East Haven Animal Control for about two months. He was owned but didn't take care of him and he was surrendered to the shelter. He's a very good boy, loves other dogs and people. It SEEMS like he has a low prey drive and doesn't go after cats. Also has been around kids. No aggression issues at all. The volunteer who is bringing Rocky has the information on Rocky's background. Rocky is from a Connecticut pound and may require additional vetting before going home. APPLICATION FORM: http://godogdays.org/find-my-new-best-friend.htm (Copy and paste to browser.) If you would like to begin the application process, please fill in the form at the link above and we will review your information, call your personal and well as vet references. PLEASE Fill in the application if you're interested in adoption, this will save you time at the event. A letter from your vet on their letterhead will also be very helpful if they won't be open for us to call as a reference. If you are renting, please note you must have a written letter of permission from your landlord to own a dog on their property. Dog Days will be conducting interviews of prospective adopters. As a policy, Dog Days will not hold dogs for potential adopters so it is important to come to the event by 11:00am Saturday morning if you have your heart set on a particular dog. We will be posting more information on each dog as we get closer to the event weekend which is October 26&27. PLEASE NOTE THAT DOGS ARE GIVEN TO THE BEST HOME, NOT FIRST IN LINE. ADOPTION EVENT INFORMATION: http://www.godogdays.org/ (Copy and paste into your browser.) We hope you will understand the careful scrutiny of potential adopters is not only for the safety and well-being of the dog but also for a positive experience for your household. Thank you for saving the life of a shelter dog through adoption; you are truly a hero. Here is more info on Rocky: Surrendered by his owner after he continuously was caught roaming Rt 80. Owner realized it was too much for him to handle. Very Friendly and playful. Loves people and to get attention. Each dog and puppy has been seen by a Connecticut veterinarian who will also be on site to answer any questions you may have. We'll have professional groomers on site to give your new pal a bath before you take them home (no charge) and our adoption bags will give you information and samples for use at home. ** ADOPTION EVENT INFORMATION: Click Here to Visit Our Site Location http://maps.google.com/maps?rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&oe=UTF-8&rlz=1I7AURU_enUS502&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=bishops+orchard+guilford+ct&fb=1&gl=us&hq=bishops+orchard&hnear=0x89e62cdcb42e44ef:0xe84723be04b2d639,Guilford,+CT&sa=X&ei=WS28UZK9K-v00QHyyoAo&ved=0CIoBEMgT

Story
Foster Home Update: Marvin is doing well in his foster home! He loves his toys and to be with his foster mom while she works from home. He enjoys his walks and loves playing fetch and romping in the backyard, as you can see in his video. Marvin is a stunning, red-coated, 7-year-old Golden/Lab mix with the most expressive face! You can almost see what he is thinking when he looks at you. Found in an apartment all alone after his humans moved away, he was relieved to be found and has settled in happily as he awaits his forever home and his best years. Marvin is a really nice dog through and through. While at the vet clinic in AL, he got along fine with other dogs and even cats. However, since Marvin doesn't like to share his toys with other dogs, we will seek a home where he will be someone's "one and only." He has a soft mouth and we have learned that he loves soft toys. His foster family in the northeast shares, "Marvin loves to play and will use any toy or ball to get your attention when he wants to play. He loves tennis balls; he retrieves the ball and then releases it. He also enjoys chewing on toys and balls - he's quite a fun dog." Marvin appreciates attention and he will be a terrific companion in a loving home. Friendly and outgoing, Marvin's tail is almost always wagging. He enjoys the companionship of the foster family's teenagers. He walks okay on a leash and with some fine-tuning, he will have this skill mastered quickly. Marvin has a moderate energy level, typical of a 7-year-old dog, so regular nice walks and playtime are on his wish list. When it's time for nighty-night, Marvin sleeps in his bed all night long without a peep. Good boy, Marvin! Very good boy! Weighing about 80-85 lbs, Marvin is vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. He was treated for heartworms and is now cleared for regular activities. He has also received a Proheart 6 injection which means he will not need heartworm preventative for six months. He is in a foster home in the northeast and is ready to meet his forever humans! Rescued dogs come with a range of needs - from behavioral to emotional to medical. When approved applicants adopt such dogs, they agree to become an important, forever part of their life journey by continuing the rehabilitation we have begun. If you are interested in becoming the happy ending to Marvin's rescue story, please contact Mary to be considered. If not yet approved for adoption, please visit our website to learn more and to submit an online application. Click here to visit our website. Please contact us with any questions regarding your application status. PLEASE APPLY by submitting an application via this online link: Click for Adoption Application About Our Rescue Before being approved to adopt, all potential adopters need to complete our online application and participate in our pre-adoption review process. The process includes the completion of an online application, a reference from the applicants' vet, a phone interview, and a visit to the applicants' home. The application process helps us determine what type of Golden would be best suited for the applicants' life style. In some cases, the specific dog you are interested in may have found a home before this process is complete or further assessment may find that this dog is not the right match for your family. We are regularly getting new Goldens in need of a home, so we encourage you to apply and get approved so that when the right dog comes along you will be ready. The information provided on each dog is based on observations of our vets, volunteers, fosters and when available, trainers. While we do our best to report any and all issues, SGRR does not make any guarantees as to the health or temperament of any dog. Dogs evolve differently in different environments and we cannot predict with any certainty how the dog you adopt will act in your home. If your vet identifies an illness that an adopter is not willing to treat, then the dog is returned and a full refund is provided. Many of our dogs are fostered in private homes and we do not have a facility to visit. We are committed to our dogs before, during, and after adoption! The rescue retains title to the dog and can never be released or sold. Should the adopters no longer be able to keep the dog, SGRR must be notified so that we can take the dog back into rescue and place it into another home. We reserve the right to remove a dog at any time should we find the adopter is no longer caring for their Golden in a way we see fit. Adopters then have to agree to follow up visits as needed. Story
I have an Adoption Pending but hope you will consider one of our other dogs in need. Thank you! Beautiful Ginger found herself in an overcrowded shelter in Mississippi and was adopted by a local rescuer who planned to keep Ginger for herself. Sadly, just two weeks after bringing Ginger home, the rescuer found out she had terminal cancer and asked if SGRR would find this beautiful girl her forever home. We were happy to help and it was just in time as this gentle woman passed away quite suddenly. At about 9-10 years of age, Ginger is a dream girl and her foster family has only wonderful things to say about her. She has perfect house manners, walks well on the leash, and rides nicely in the car. Ginger loves watching sports on TV with her foster family and her favorite thing to eat is scrambled eggs. One of our volunteers shared, "Ginger does this adorable thing where she kinda murmurs when being loved on and she leans in for more pets and praise. It’s like a purring cat in a larger Golden Retriever female! :) Such a loving and sweet lady." Ginger is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, and microchipped. She is under treatment for heartworms and has been given a Proheart-6 injection for 6 months of heartworm prevention. Ginger weighs about 60-65 lbs, and is good with other dogs, but has no known history with kitties. She will be ready to come north to be directly adopted in mid-to-late December. Rescued dogs come with a range of needs - from behavioral to emotional to medical. When approved applicants adopt such dogs, they agree to become an important, forever part of their life journey by continuing the rehabilitation we have begun.
