Story
Adira was found running at large in Memphis and was subsequently brought to a veterinary clinic by a kind MPD Officer. She was severely emaciated and scared. “Addie” as she has come to be known, quickly made herself at home at her Foster’s farm while she gained weight and recuperated. She is now around 65 pounds and estimated to be 2-3 years old. Addie loves to play ball, go on long walks through the woods, run, ride in cars, and snuggle. She is wonderful for baths, tolerates nail trims, and more than anything, just wants to be anywhere her human is. Although she is high energy when the opportunity presents itself, Addie would make a suitable apartment dog for someone who works from home. Her foster family works from home and she spends the entire workday snuggled on her bed beside her foster mom while she works. Addie is kennel trained, but she is a large dog and would not be suited for kenneling all day while family or individual works. Addie will do best with an active lifestyle and plenty of time for play. She does need to be the only dog as she is an alpha female and does not share her humans or her territory. Addie is deeply loyal and very protective. She is friendly to new people if her person is friendly to them. Once adopted she will travel via private transport Rescue Vet (transport cost is $160.00) to a location closest to you. Story
Everyone meet Jax! This super sweet shy guy is one amazing pup with a huge heart. Jax is going to need someone very patient with him. He needs time to adjust. That’s all he needs is time and patience. He’s timid initially, but once warmed up, he steals the show and your heart at the same time. He would probably do better with someone with another dog. Jax is great with other dogs and puppies and they help him feel more comfortable which allows him to come out of his shell quicker. He loves walks and car rides!!! Jax has fostered with two of our fosters here in Memphis and they would both be happy to give you a little more information about him. We can’t wait to find him a wonderful home of his own so he can settle in and adjust for good. Once adopted, Jax will travel via RescueVet Transport to his new family. They travel each and every weekend from Memphis, Tennessee to the north east, delivering pups along the way as far north as West Greenwich, Rhode Island. Transport is an additional $185. If you would like to make this amazing guy part of your family please follow the link below to our adoption application. Our turnaround time is typically less than 24 hours so please be prepared before you submit your application. https://forms.gle/APKvbgFJcaRvgKgk9

LOWER ADOPTION/TRANSPORT FEE $250 Butter is one exquisite boy! He is a 4 1/2-year-old mix of Carolina Dog and Shepherd and has reached his mature weight of 50-55 pounds. He wears a medium coat of red and gold that shimmers in the sun. He is a good boy who knows a few commands including &#194&#147sit&#194&#148 and &#194&#147shake" and gently takes his reward treat from your hand. Butter is very easy going and loves other dogs; however, he is not a fan of cats. We ask that any children in the home be older than 12 years because we feel that a loud home may frighten our dear Butter. This affectionate boy loves giving hugs, being brushed, and receiving belly rubs and his favorite activities are walking and playing with tennis balls. Butter would love nothing more than to complete your home sweet home. (ME, 11/8/23) LOWER ADOPTION/TRANSPORT FEE $250**It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. ** Adoption fee: $395 covers quarantine, shots, worming, medical records, spaying/neutering, microchip, and an Alabama State Health Certificate. Transport, if needed, is $160. We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip. We make every effort to arrive with healthy and minimally stressed dogs. Adoption fees for Hope dogs and those who have been at rescue for prolonged amounts of time are reduced to $150 plus a $100 transport fee, as notated in their listings.November 13, 2024, 3:08 pm

Story
Peaches was adopted and had a life as a family member, but sadly was returned after 6 years. We are all sad for her and hoping her forever home will love her for the good girl she can be. Sweet Peaches is affectionate, loves to chill on the couch, enjoys a good car ride, a long walk, and playing with her toys. Peaches adores all sized people, although the littles may not stay upright around 'miss big love'. She is spayed, housebroken, and knows all the basic commands. This girl listens well, she completed her training at Creature Comfort Inn and is currently being fostered by a trainer. She is a strong girl that will need a strong leader, continued structure will be best to keep everyone happiest. Peaches is a beautiful tall German Shepherd, weighting 85 pounds. She prefers to be the only animal in the house and does have a strong prey drive, so small critters wouldn't fair well around this queen. Peaches has EPI (Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency), which means her pancreas doesn't produce enough enzymes to break down the food properly. This is not too costly and easy to manage. Enzyme powder is added to her food at each meal and she needs a B12 supplement. So please don't let EPI scare you! Peaches is a healthy senior girl, looking for her happily-ever-after! Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  If you are an approved adopter and are interested in this dog, please let your case worker know. Story
Nesta was rescued from a high kill shelter in TX. It takes Nesta a while to trust and will take her time to feel safe and settle into a new home environment. Nesta is a "velcro" dog and will follow her person everywhere. She is an affectionate gale, wanting pets as much as she can get. Nesta started training with Sadie's Rules K9 training in February 2024, to further develop the confidence and manners to be the best version of herself. Nesta now has great manners, knows all the basic commands, and does best with a strict routine. She gets along with dogs, but isn't much of a player. She is ok with the kitties too. Nesta was fine with children in her previous foster home, but older children are recommended. This girl is high energy, but enjoys a simple life. Nesta is up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, spayed, crate trained, and housebroken. A good girl that is ready to show all she has learned in her new forever home. Story
SSR rescued neglected Blue from death row. He is ready to begin his journey of freedom and love! Blue is sweet, goofy, loves his toys, and is friendly to all. He'd make a great family dog, loving the little dog savvy humans too. Blue will be great as a play buddy with another dog, he needs a companion. He may show a common resource guarding with food, so feeding in his "safe place", crate, has resolved his unsureness. This big boy is up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, neutered, crate trained, and housebroken. He does still have puppy chewing tendencies and could use some continued training, but he knows basic commands. He is doing well around dog savvy cats, meaning no harm if he chases. Blue boy does have skin allergies, more test are being done to pinpoint his allergy. For now, an allergy shot has done wonders for him. All of his bloodwork is proof that he is a healthy boy. He handles the utter and total chaos of his foster home with ease, he's seriously sweet! Blue will hypnotize you with his mournful eyes! Adopt Blue and he will be sure to take you to his bluey moments of love, laughter, and fun!             Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  If you are an approved adopter and are interested in this dog, please let your case worker know. Story
Milton has come so far and has learned to trust. Loyal Milton lived outside in TX, unloved and uncared for until his decline in health was noticed. SSR came to the rescue. Milton is a bit timid when initially meeting men, but he has turned the page! We can definitely say now that Milton has added men as a favorite human! This gentle boy is good with lower energy dogs, older children, and has curiosity for the kitties. Milton has some instability in his hind quarters. X-rays revealed an old spinal compression fracture at T13. Milton is in no pain. He would benefit best with limited stairs and having a carpeted area. He does well in grassy areas and has the cutest run-hop wiggle butt. Milton is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and currently being treated for heartworm.  He weighs in at about 60 pounds.  Milton is housebroken, crate trained, and easy on the leash.  A rare moment of excitement for Milton is when feeding time comes. He also responds well to the 'NO' command. Affectionate Milton is in search of a forever home to prove his loyalty, lay at your feet, and chill with you! Good with dogs,
Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. [10/26/24]  I've had Maria for 5.5 months now.  She's come a very long way.  Her skin issues have cleared up (she's now on a daily dose of Apoquel to ensure her skin remains healthy).  Maria was spayed on 10/1/24.  If you had read the 6/20/24 update below, we planned to have her spayed in June.  But she went into heat and best practices indicate that females should not be spayed for about 3-4 months after a heat cycle ends.  The vets want to make sure that hormones have calmed down enough to do the spay.  So we waited until October. She was a trooper throughout recuperation - even with the cone (NOT her favorite).  The incision healed nicely.  It was a bit longer than most spay incisions because the  vet also repaired an umbilical hernia during the procedure.  I thought Maria was happy before the spay, but after that cone came off and I no longer had to use a leash, she was ecstatic!  I'm guessing since the hernia was repaired, she felt a whole lot better.  Maria has learned to sit and wait for her bowl to be placed down.  We've been working on leash training, but she hasn't got the hang of that yet.  Since the spay, there are times where she doesn't pull on lead (the leash goes soft), but then she pulls again.  Her forever home will likely want to work with her on that.  She is crate trained - she goes in the crate at night and whenever I leave my house.  She also hasn't had an accident in the house for over 5 months, so I think it's safe to say that she's house trained as well.  :) She does have a high prey drive, so we're thinking a forever home with no small animals.  It might also be best if there were no small children in the home.  She is essentially an 86 lb puppy - bouncy, fast, zoomies, etc.  She's leaarning spatial boundaries and I'm sure she will continue to improve.  One additional observation is that her coat seems to be getting lighter.  I had her DNA tested and she came back 100% White Shepherd.  It'll be interesting to see how light her coat might get.  Oh, and I'll be happy to include those results with the  documentation we send with Maria.  Maria is definitely ready for her forever home.  If you might be interested in this special girl, please do apply to adopt.  If you are already approved to adopt, please contact us.  [6/20/24] Maria went to the vet yesterday and was a little nervous but was great with both the vet tech and the vet. Her skin issues are better, but haven't quite cleared up yet so she'll be on an antibiotic a while longer. The vet also gave me a mousse to rub into her skin. I'll start that today. Her spay is scheduled for July 2. At that time, the vet will also repair what appears to be an umbilical hernia. Big doin's coming up for this sweet girl. She'd also gained 4-5 lbs. This is great and the vet was okay about the food amount and the frequency of the feedings (3 times/day). Today, I started a new 'thing' with her. She knows 'sit' and I decided to ask her to sit before I open a door. We've been through two doors so far and after a few seconds she managed it both times. She's coming along nicely. And she's just got the best smile. :)  [6/18/2024]  I've had Maria for about 6.5 weeks and am getting to know her.   She'll go to the vet tomorrow for a recheck. She seems to have gained a little weight. Her body is looking softer and her face is filling in. I'm now wondering how long it will take for her to catch up to those wonderful ears of hers. Right now, I'm thinking no small children and no small animals. She's has a small frame, but is very strong and very much like a big puppy. She bumps and rubs up against me and could easily knock a small child down. She's chased both bunnies and squirrels in the yard. I don't know about cats, but I'm guessing she would be VERY interested. I'm also thinking that an active family would be great for her. She's so delighted and excited with the world now. She just bounces with her energy. Once she learns to relax on leash, she will do great on walks (I'm working on this). She's very smart and catches on fairly quickly. She now 'sits' (without being asked) for her meal AND 'waits' for me to tell her 'okay.' This means she's not diving for her dish anymore. We're also working on 'wait.' Like with the meals, I've started putting a treat on the floor and asking her to 'wait' until I say 'okay.' Stay tuned for more updates on this special girl.
