Story
Jerry is a very attention starved and lovable guy, he needs to run around and have someone who is willing to train him and teach him tricks. He needs time to get used to someone but he’ll never bite or attack, he’ll only bark and try to sniff. I’ve had him for 10 years, his father recently passed and his mother was adopted long before either of them. He needs someone willing to give him attention and keep him entertained.

Story
Birdie is a young adult female shepherd/boxer–type mix with a sweet, people-oriented temperament and a lot of potential in the right home. She is affectionate once comfortable, bonds quickly to calm and consistent adults, and clearly wants to engage and please her handler. Birdie is a high-energy dog who requires regular, purposeful exercise and mental engagement. She plays enthusiastically and can be a bit rough in her play style, which is appropriate for her energy level and breed mix. With continued training and structure, this should improve as she gains impulse control. She has shown no signs of aggression toward people, including children, but she is still developing body control and spatial awareness. Because of this, she would likely do best in a home with older, dog-savvy children who understand boundaries, rather than very young children who are at floor level. With supervision and training, she could do well in a family environment that understands active dogs. Birdie has made excellent progress with crate training and uses the crate well as a place to settle and relax. She is beginning to learn place work and basic obedience, and she has shown that she is a fast learner once she is comfortable and understands expectations. She responds best to calm, patient guidance and benefits from structure and consistency. She does not appear to be destructive or an anxious chewer; however, she enjoys appropriate chew toys and bones and settles well with them. Once the environment is calm, she is able to relax indoors near her people. Birdie’s response to cats is currently unknown. She has had limited exposure to other dogs; one brief introduction suggested she may be somewhat reactive, but not overtly aggressive. Slow, structured introductions would be recommended to assess compatibility with other dogs. Overall, Birdie is a kind, energetic dog who is trying hard and making progress. She would likely thrive in an active home with an experienced, patient handler who enjoys training, can provide consistent structure, and understands the needs of a young, high-energy dog Birdie is 2y old and 62 lbs. She is spayed, and her adoption includes a microchip with lifetime registration, 4dx SNAP heartworm test, DHLPP, Bordetella, and rabies and parasite control. Also included in the adoption are 30 days of Pet First Pet Insurance, a new lead and collar, and an adoption kit. Story
Carrots is an owner give up to our rescue. Below is the information her owner gave us initially. I have had Carrots for almost two years now. She has been the most amazing friend I could have asked for. She rarely barks and only lets out an occasional whine if she needs to go out or is wanting some attention. She’s a well behaved for a dog that lives her life with me in a small dorm and can only go out to play fetch or go for a walk when I’m not at class or work. She needs better. In general, she has been amazing for the hand she’s been dealt. I actually couldn’t be more grateful for how well she’s treated me as she’s grown to be near a full two years old!! I am having to part with her because she is still a puppy, and I’m a Junior in college struggling to work and commute on weekends when I have to, and give her the attention she deserves. She’s trained well. She sits on command, she can stay if you ask, she’s house trained, and she’s comfortable with her kennel if needed. She uses a harness for walks and does great. She was trained to walk on the left of you and she’s usually pretty good about staying focused. She has started the process of being an ESA certified dog but has not rec'd her second certification. Her previous owner said that she was around a child once and growled so we do not recommend her with small children. She has never been around cats so we cannot say whether she will or will not be okay arounds feline friends. She would make a great family member for an active family. If you would like to add Carrots to your home, please message us and we will send you an application. Carrots is being fostered in MS but included in your adoption fee is transport to a location near you by Rescue Riders Pet Transport, the most animal friendly transport on the road! The adoption fee includes her medical for a health certificate and transport to you. We look forward to hearing from you soon!

Story
Princess is an approximately 3 year old spayed female shepherd mix that desperately needs a home. Her owner was unable to continue to feed her, and a neighbor stepped up to help care for Princess but they are not able to care for her long-term. Princess is good with other dogs, and after having multiple litters of puppies before getting spayed, she is very maternal. She is friendly with strangers but will let you know when they come into the yard! Princess appears to be house-trained and is non-destructive when she comes inside the house at night to sleep. Once she knows where “home” is, she is not one to wander and sticks close to where her people are. Princess is fully vaccinated but is unfortunately heartworm positive.
