Story
Jack was rescued from south Texas and adopted in April 2020. He was later returned to SSR when the original adopter rehomed him to a family unfamiliar with the German Shepherd breed, not understanding his needs. Jack has been a wonderful and happy healthy boy! He loves all humans, big and small. Jack is a low energy boy that walks well on the leash. He's a silly, playful, obedient good guy that has good recall and isn't destructive. This affectionate fella is up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, neutered, and housebroken. Such a big one hundred pound snuggle buddy! He can coexist with other dogs, but he is picky about who he lets in his inner circle. So slow introductions with resident dog(s) will need to happen before Jack can be adopted. Cats are a nope. After all, we want to make sure his next home is his forever home! If you have room in your home and heart to give this big guy the love he deserves, please apply today to adopt him.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  If you are an approved adopter and are interested in this dog, please let your case worker know. If you are not yet an approved adopter but are interested, please complete an adoption application! If you are viewing this animal on Petfinder, please see our organization’s Petfinder home page, linked below (on mobile) or to the right (on desktop), to read about our adoption process and to start your journey! Story
She’s an amazing dog. Everyone we have met adores her. She’s extremely sweet, kind, loving, and affectionate. We’ve had her for two years but we are moving and no longer are able to keep her. This breaks my heart but I want to find someone who can love her as much as we do. She’s 6 and still has a lot of energy and excitement. She does have separation anxiety but has never been destructive or anything like that. Usually just crying and whimpering.

Story
Roxy is an 8-month-old pup who's still finding her footing in the world. She's a bit shy at first and may take a little time to adjust to new people and environments, but once she feels safe and comfortable, her true playful personality shines through!Despite her initial hesitation, Roxy has a heart full of love to give. She's a gentle soul who enjoys belly rubs and will start acting like the playful puppy she is once she knows she can trust you. Roxy would thrive in a calm and loving home where she can feel secure and where she can grow into the happy, playful dog she's meant to be. She might do best with a patient adopter who can help her navigate the world at her own pace, and perhaps even with a canine friend to show her the ropes!I am spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and heartworm tested. Come meet me! My adoption fee is sponsored by Big Lick Veterinary Clinic. If you are interested in adopting me, please complete our online Adoption Application at https://rvspca.org/adopt/application/The Roanoke Valley SPCA offers adoptions by appointments Tuesday - Saturday between Noon and 7pm. Story
THE GAMBIT - 1-5 years old, 75 pounds, no kids.   The Gambit is a beautiful German Shepherd. He stands tall, proud, and regal. He is friendly when he knows you but it could take time for him to completely trust you. He is dog social and loves running, chasing and jumping with other dogs.   Gambit would likely do best with a GSD experienced owner. We all know certain breeds are meant for certain homes and these working dogs require a bit more than your average dog when it comes to training and jobs.   Gambit would be best in an adult home.   He is currently in a back kennel so if you come in and don't see him, please just ask!  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 20, 2024, 12:09 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Lucky is an owner surrender who came to the shelter with her cat step-sister. She is around 8 years old and has lived a life with lots of treats and attention. But she is adaptable: her tail doesn't stop wagging when volunteers take her out for a walk, and she is doing her very best to keep her kennel and run clean and tidy. She is already spayed, walks well on the leash and has a happy disposition. History says she would do well with cats and her size makes her a good choice for children and teens.    PLEASE NOTE: This pet has been posted by Friends of Campbell County Animal Control, Rustburg, VA. For questions about the pet, please email us at FOACinfo@gmail.com. All adoptions begin with an application, found under the "Animals" tab on our website, friendsofcampbellcounty.org. *Unaltered babies under the age of six months can be adopted only to residents of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, and counties touching Campbell County. *Unaltered adult pets six months or older will need to be sterilized before they can be adopted outside our local area of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, or counties touching Campbell. *We do not promote dog adoptions to homes where an invisible fence is the fencing of choice. *We do not permit cats or kittens to be declawed following adoption.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 19, 2024, 9:37 pm
