Harley did really well in her board and train- she will need a breed savvy owner for proper handling. She likely can have friends if they are the right match- but will likely need to be an only pet.

Story
Meet Destiny and Her Pups! Destiny, a beautiful and resilient German Shepherd, was abandoned at a kill shelter in Puerto Rico while heavily pregnant. With no other option, she gave birth to 10 puppies on the cold, dirty cement floor. Thankfully, our rescuers stepped in and saved Destiny and 8 of her pups (4 boys-Cosmo, Comet, Aries, and Orion plus 4 girls- Nova, Stella, Aurora, and Lyra).   Now, after weeks of care and love, these adorable puppies have grown into playful, well-socialized pups, comfortable around children and other dogs. They are healthy, happy, and ready to fly to the States to join loving families. &#226&#156&#136&#239&#184&#143 Their father is unknown, so they are a mix of mystery and cuteness! &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Destiny, now spayed and available for adoption, is a true gem. She is loving, calm, smart, affectionate, and incredibly loyal—ready to be the perfect companion for a lucky family. If you’re looking for a devoted and gentle soul, Destiny is your girl! SLADE - 7 years old, over 100 pounds, adult home only, no other pets, heartworm positive, but shelter is starting treatment.         *He is a big boy who will need an experienced owner.              *He has his quirks and we're going to disclose them right now.                  *He gravitates towards one person and is slow to warm up to others.                      *He has shown signs of guarding toys and food and is nervous with loud noises and vacuums.    Slade is also loving and protective.      *He is smart and learns quickly.          *He enjoys attention and petting from his person.             *Slade is house trained although he has had accidents when given human food.                 *Slade loves to go for walks and he will definitely turn a few heads with his shepherd gait and long fluffy fur.                      *Slade is playful but can be vocal when playing.   Please do your research on gsd's before considering this boy.    If you are experienced with the breed and looking for a new buddy, come on out to meet him.      *He is currently in a back kennel so if you don't see him, please just ask.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 9, 2024, 6:00 pm

Do you have GSD breed experience?  BUDDY - 5 years old, 78 pounds, house trained BUDDY is a beautiful boy, tall and impressive. He has thick black fur and a long muscular broad tail.  He is playful and enjoys all kinds of toys. He will try to chase joggers, bikes, skateboarders and cars. Buddy can be trusted to roam free in the home when left alone. Buddy is looking for a special home where he will be given proper introductions to new people and time to settle in. He will need a responsible owner who will be prepared to manage him when on walks and be ready to manage any kind of resource guarding if he shows that. We are looking for a GSD breed experienced adult only home without any other animals. When I met him, I found him to be pleasant and friendly. We played in the yard, he sat for treats and chased the tennis ball around. If you think Buddy might be your boy, please come to meet him. He is currently in a back kennel so if you don't see him, please just ask!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 12, 2024, 7:16 pm

MIDNIGHT - 3 1/2 years old, 90 pounds, house trained, good with kids, smart MIDNIGHT was surrendered when his family couldn't care for him any longer.  Loud noises scare him. He is very reactive to other dogs but we are told with slow and proper introductions, Midnight might accept the other dog. He might want to chase critters when outside. He is known to resource guard certain items. He is playful and friendly with children when he knows and trusts them. Midnight is crate trained and used to hanging out in his crate when left alone. Midnight is looking for a family who is #1 ready to bring an XL GSD into their family and #2 ready to go slow with him as he gets used settled into a new home and routine. I'm not sure if the photos and video give this black beauty justice so you're going to have to come in and meet him for yourself. He is currently in a back kennel so if you don't see him, please just ask.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 21, 2024, 2:19 pm

PLANKTON - 1-5 years old, 75 pounds, nervous      Sitting quietly behind the cage bars, Plankton just stares. He is nervous after being found stray and now stuck in a shelter cage without a familiar face around. Plankton seems a little sensitive around his neck and head area. He walks slowly, head on a swivel checking things out. In the yard, he was investigating all over. He would approach for some treats, although he was very cautious. That's about all we know about this boy right now so if you are interested and ready to bring forth understanding and patience as he settles in another new environment, come on out to meet him. Plankton is currently in a back kennel so if you don't see him, please just ask. *Knowing more information about a dog's breed will also help when it comes to figuring out if that breed is conducive to success in your particular home. Story
I saved Bentley from an unsafe living situation. He is 6 years old, he’s the sweetest, loving, and most compassionate dog I’ve ever had. He loves to just lay around the house and cuddle and if you let him sleep in the bed he pretty much stays to himself but he will basically sleep there all night. He gets along great with other dogs as well as kids he will take in all the attention he can get. He does have separation issues, but he won’t misbehave or anything like that just won’t be able to go to another room without you following him or leave the house without him looking out the window.

Story
Katanya is in a foster home! Let`s see how she is doing:`I couldn`t get Katanya out of my mind from our Expawdition and since she hasn`t had any successful meets at the shelter, I thought she may need a fresh start at my house. Sooo she`s my new foster. For now, we’re going to work on independence and confidence; she`s got a very secure yard to freely explore, is taking walks in the neighborhood to meet people and dogs, and has a comfy room to herself where she can snuggle and play with her toys.surprisingly, this girl is house trained!walks ok on leash but must be very vigilant as she`s strong when spookedloves to snuggle, bit of a lap doggreat in the bath, hops right in, stays stillgood with other dogs, both male and femaleplays in spray of hose, gets zoomies afterlikes to play fetch, is clumsy at catching but its adorableplays with her toys on her own (self entertained)sensitive to you (I fell and she ran right back to me, nuzzling my face, very sweet)non-destructive, even though she’s youngmostly sleeps through night (does get up 1x to play a little, then back to sleep)She likes to be with her person. Although curious to check things out, she feels safer when you’re close. She does need protection from herself until she calms down and learns that everything isn’t scary and her home is safe. So she’ll need someone that is committed to giving her the patience and consistency for insecure dogs. Definitely a securely fenced yard. Someone strong who can be vigilant on the leash.Besides those temporary things, she really is a cool girl. She’s strikingly beautiful with her lanky gait and goofy paws. She LOVES water and I can see endless days in the summer swimming everywhere. She’s smart, curious about everything, and would make someone a super loyal buddy for daytime adventures and night time snuggies.I think she would do best with meets off site, so I`m happy to arrange at my home.Katanya went on an ExPAWdition! Let`s read all about it:`Katanya - ExpawditionHopped right into car, but because she is an 85 lb nervous Nelly she wants to be in the front so I had to tether her in the back. She was spooked by large trucks going by and anything noisy, so I kept the car calm as we headed for a long walk at Noland. For such a nervous girl she was surprisingly pretty good on the leash! She obvi needs leash training but she doesn’t go nuts…she’s not interested in squirrels whi

Story
Max is a Dutch Shepherd and approximately 3 years old. He is a typical Dutchie in many ways. He is very toy driven and loves a game of fetch. When excited he's mouthy and will def give you the love nibbles. He is not interested in making many human friends outside of "his" people, but as long as he is under control/guidance of his handler he does fine. This means that he isn't the life of the party when people come over or the dog that is going to be pet on by strangers. He bonds with his people and is so goofy and fun to have around. He is mostly house and crate trained. He requires a fenced yard to enjoy. Max does know basic obedience. He is dog social but prefers females. He will require an adult home. No cats please. He is healthy and happy and would be great for an active pet home or a hobby sport pet home! Interested families can submit applications for adoption on our website- www.k9Justiceleague.com.

Story
Milo joined my life at 8 weeks old after my retirement from the Navy in 2022. With all my free time in retirement, I was able to keep him actively engaged and stimulated. My vet connected me with Virginia Recovery K9 (VRK9), an organization supported by the Virginia Police Working Dog Association (VPWDA) that collaborates with law enforcement on cadaver scent work. Milo excelled in scent detection and advanced his skills with the guidance of a friend who is the kennel master for the Norfolk Police Department. He’s experienced in working in diverse settings, including rubble piles, wood areas, shops, restaurants, and public spaces, and consistently performs remarkably well off-leash. Now that I'm back to work & my schedule involves frequent travel, it’s become more difficult to provide the exercise and mental challenges he needs to thrive.
