Story
To learn more about Bodey, please get in touch with his foster parent at michaelaturco@gmail.com Bodey is a vibrant, high-energy German Shepherd who embraces life with enthusiasm and a love for adventure. True to his breed, this strikingly handsome pup thrives on activity and needs both mental and physical stimulation to stay content. With his boundless zest for life and eager-to-please nature, Bodey is an incredibly intelligent and trainable dog who has already mastered several commands. Whether it's fetching a ball, going for long walks, or hiking in the woods, he is always ready for action! Despite his lively puppy-like personality, Bodey is a loyal and dedicated dog who loves to be near his people. He’s often found at your side, napping nearby or occasionally trying to curl up in your lap for some affection. Once he warms up to you, Bodey is playful and affectionate, but he doesn’t demand constant attention—he’s independent when he needs to be, but you might get a big, goofy kiss from him if he gets a little too excited! Bodey absolutely loves chew toys/tennis balls, a good nap, and especially long walks, ideally in the woods where he can explore to his heart’s content. He’s a very strong guy who’s still learning to manage his impulses and excitability, particularly when it comes to seeing other dogs while out on walks (he’s just so eager to make new doggy friends!). In the home, Bodey has made significant progress with his training and is house-trained and crate-trained, and he even puts himself to bed each night. His protective instincts make him a great companion, but he also requires an owner who understands his need for exercise and structure and can adequately provide that to him. His ideal home would be an active one with a good-sized, fully high-fenced yard for him to run around in to help burn off some of his energy. Prior experience owning a German Shepherd or a similar high-energy breed is a plus. Bodey would thrive in a patient, stable environment—one without cats—where he can continue to grow and learn. With plenty of exercise, consistent training, and the right loving home, Bodey will be the most loyal, loving companion anyone could ask for. If you’re ready to open up your heart and home to an active, adventurous dog, Bodey just might be the perfect match for you!

Foster Homes Needed! Do you have time and room in your life for a foster dog? http://www.muttloverescue.org/foster.html *****************   Snuggles fetch and food!  What do these things have in common?  Ranger!  These just happen to be his most favorite things!  If you too love puppy snuggles then he’s the guy for you.   After a seemingly never ending game of fetch, Ranger will happily settle down and chill with a chew bone or even better a nap snuggled up next to his favorite person.   Food is up next on his list of faves, which makes him an ideal candidate for training! He loves to learn and picks up new skills so quickly.  All he needs is a new family to continue his education. It’s hard to believe this adorable guy was taken to a shelter in SW VA after being hit by a car and no one claimed him.  After being cleared by a vet he was able to be transferred to Mutts for a chance at a better life!  It’s taken some time for us to really get to know him but after spending quality time in not one, but two foster homes (he’s so popular two foster families are sharing his time!), we’ve discovered what an amazing boy Ranger is! To note, Ranger can be uncomfortable and reactive to some dogs while on leash.  We feel with the right fear free training, time and patience, this can be managed and improved.  Ranger has had some good play sessions with female dogs and was able to coexist in a foster home with calm, female dogs.  At this time it is best for Ranger to live in a single family home with a fenced yard where his interactions around other dogs can be managed.  He is able to go for walks with a plan and lots of treats for distractions.  Trust us when we say this love bug will be worth all the extra effort!  **BECAUSE OF OUR REQUIREMENT FOR A HOME VISIT, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO ADOPT TO HOMES IN THE NORTHERN VA / MARYLAND / DC METRO AREA** We have adoption events EVERY SATURDAY from 12-3 p.m. Please note that not all dogs can attend every event, so if you are interested in meeting a particular dog, please complete a no-obligation application on our website at http://www.muttloverescue.org/application.html OR write to adopt@muttloverescue.org. Upcoming adoption events: Saturday Feb 1st 12- 3pm  - Cancelled     Saturday Feb 8th 12 - 3 pm Weber's Pet Supermarket; 2280 Hunnters Wood Plaza; Reston     Saturday Feb 15th 12-3 pm Weber's Pet Supermarket; 11135 Lee Highway; Fairfax We are always desperate for foster homes, now more than ever. If you are interested in fostering, please complete an application... unless you are a previous adopter/foster, then you can just contact us via phone (703-988-2608) or email (adopt@muttloverescue.org) to tell us which dog you want to foster!    For information on sponsoring this dog, please write to adopt@muttloverescue.org.   WE NEED FOSTER HOMES! Story
Lacy is a lovely 4 year old Shepherd/hound mix who loves people and can't wait to find her forever home. This 50 pound lady is a fan of head scratches and wants to be with you all the time. She is crate trained and great in the house. She has a low prey drive, and had previously lived with a cat. She would be very happy to be the only dog in the house as well. The adoption fee for this dog is $425 which includes routine vetting and spay/neuter. Petconnect Rescue cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and the general appearance of the animal at the time they enter our system. For more information, please email Cricket at cmacdonald@petconnectrescue.org. **If you're viewing this on Petfinder, please visit www.petconnectrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**

If so, Lore might be the perfect companion for you. Lore is a gentle soul who has faced more than her fair share of challenges. This sweet, timid girl is a shy, scared pup who will need a special adopter to help her blossom into the loving, confident dog she’s destined to become. She’s got a heart of gold, but it’s hidden beneath layers of fear and hesitation. Lore’s past experiences have left her wary of new people and environments. She’s a little unsure about the world, but with time, patience, and a gentle touch, she has the potential to be a truly loyal and affectionate companion. What Lore Needs: Experienced Adopter: Lore’s ideal home is with someone who has experience with fearful and anxious dogs. You’ll need to be prepared to go at Lore’s pace and understand that building trust will take time. Patient and Loving Environment: Lore will need a calm, quiet environment where she can feel safe and secure. A predictable routine will help her feel more at ease. Training and Socialization: Lore will benefit from positive reinforcement training to help her overcome her fearful behaviors. With guidance, she can learn to navigate new situations with more confidence. Time and Commitment: Gaining Lore’s trust won’t happen overnight. You’ll need to be dedicated to spending quality time with her, slowly introducing her to new experiences and people. What Lore Offers: Loyal Companionship: Once Lore feels safe, she will show you the depth of her affection. Her loyalty and gentle nature will shine through as she begins to trust you. A Rewarding Journey: Helping Lore overcome her fears will be a deeply rewarding experience. Watching her grow and thrive in a loving environment will be a testament to your commitment and care. If you’re ready to take on the rewarding challenge of helping Lore find her way to a happier, more confident life, please consider opening your heart and home to this deserving girl. With the right support, Lore has the potential to become a cherished member of your family. Important Addendum: Commitment to Lore’s Journey Please note that due to Lore’s sensitive nature and the significant commitment required to support her growth, we are not accepting returns for her. Lore’s journey to confidence and trust is delicate and crucial, and it’s important that she finds a stable, dedicated home where she can flourish without disruption. Lore will need a committed owner who is prepared to invest time and effort into her training and socialization. Bouncing between homes can deeply affect her progress, potentially causing separation anxiety and hindering her ability to build trust and confidence. If you are ready to provide Lore with the stable, loving environment she needs, and you are committed to her ongoing training and development, we encourage you to consider adopting her. Your dedication will play a vital role in helping Lore become the happy, confident companion she deserves to be. __________________________________If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application.Apply to adopt at: www.nerdypaws.org Nerdy Paws Animal Rescue is a foster based rescue in Springfield, VA. We do not have a shelter, all of our animals are in foster homes. We require all potential adopters to fill out an application before setting up a meeting with the animal and their foster family.
