Story
**Meet Your New Best Friend!** Hi, I'm a 14-week-old German Shepherd mix (likely with some Lab in me) born on 11/26/24. I'm a bit on the shy side and a little timid at first, but once I warm up, I promise you'll see just how sweet and loving I can be. I absolutely love to play with balls, sticks, and especially enjoy fetching. Tug of war with a squeaky toy or a rope is one of my favorite activities, too! But my number one favorite thing in the world is cuddling with my foster mom – I’m a real snuggle bug. I may be a shy guy, but I’m also a great work buddy! I love hanging out with my foster mom while she works. I’m happiest when I can nap by her feet or curl up on a doggie bed nearby. My crate is my safe place, and I’m perfectly content to relax there, too. I already know how to sit, lie down, and give paw! I’m working on my “stay” command, and I’m also learning the ropes of walking on a leash. I’m super food motivated and love hearing that I’m a good boy! I’m almost fully potty trained, but I haven't quite figured out how to let my foster mom know when I need to go outside. She’s teaching me how to use bells to let her know – I’m a quick learner! I’m still a puppy, so I’m in the chewing phase. I’m doing my best to figure out what’s mine to chew and what’s not, so please be patient with me as I learn. If you’re looking for a calm, smart, cuddly boy who’s ready to be your loyal companion, then I might just be the one for you! Could I be your new best friend? 🐾

Story
Hi there! My name is FeFe, and I’m a 4-year-old German Shepherd looking for my forever home! I’m 82 pounds of black and tan floof. I know I’m a big girl, but my foster mom says there’s just more of me to love! I’m spayed, heartworm negative, and fully vaccinated, so I’m healthy and ready to go home with you! I’m a goofy and loving dog who is always up for a good time. I love to play fetch and chew on bones, and I’m always eager to learn new tricks. I’m very smart and energetic, so I’m looking for someone who can keep up with me! It would be best if you have experience with shepherds or other herding breeds like me. I’m house and crate trained, and my foster mom has been working with me on my leash manners. I get nervous around people and animals that I don’t know, so I’m looking for a home where I can be the only pet. Because I’m so big (and sometimes a little clumsy), I’d do best in a home without small children. I would make a great companion for an active adult or a family with older children. If you’re looking for a loyal and loving companion, I’m your girl! I’m being fostered in Portsmouth, VA and adopters will need to meet me in person prior to adoption. *Must be 21 or older to apply.

Story
Rex is one of those happy go lucky, loveable German Shepherds that is a rare offering in the rescue world.  A two year old, 75 pound young dog that is a victim of divorce.  Like children, he is having to adjust to a new lifestyle and he must be rehomed due to his dad moving in with parents who are already at their limit for dogs. Everyone is heartbroken. Rex loves everyone and is good with cats, other dogs and adores meeting new people. He is housebroken, crate trained and not a nervous nelly like some Shepherds can be.  He is still growing and can stand to add a few more muscular pounds as he becomes a more mature adult dog.  Broken hearted is what his owner will be when he goes  but Critter Cavalry Rescue has promised to find the perfect Shepherd savvy home for him with a fenced yard, and someone with the time and stability to give this boy all he deserves in life.  Rex is an eager and easy student to train to be a family’s “everything” dog.  Please know this breed before asking to adopt.  They are dogs that cannot be ignored and left alone for 10 hours a day.  They love challenges that are both mental and physical.  Rex is a love of a dog, with no aggressive tendencies at all but he needs to know boundaries and you MUST BE A LEADER to him.  He will pace at first in a new environment because that is what GSD breeds do.  Change is tough on their intelligent heart and soul.  He is a true treasure for his breed.  If interested, please contact us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMarch 10, 2025, 1:49 pm
