Story
Hi there! My name is FeFe, and I’m a 4-year-old German Shepherd looking for my forever home! I’m 82 pounds of black and tan floof. I know I’m a big girl, but my foster mom says there’s just more of me to love! I’m spayed, heartworm negative, and fully vaccinated, so I’m healthy and ready to go home with you! I’m a goofy and loving dog who is always up for a good time. I love to play fetch and chew on bones, and I’m always eager to learn new tricks. I’m very smart and energetic, so I’m looking for someone who can keep up with me! It would be best if you have experience with shepherds or other herding breeds like me. I’m house and crate trained, and my foster mom has been working with me on my leash manners. I get nervous around people and animals that I don’t know, so I’m looking for a home where I can be the only pet. Because I’m so big (and sometimes a little clumsy), I’d do best in a home without small children. I would make a great companion for an active adult or a family with older children. If you’re looking for a loyal and loving companion, I’m your girl! I’m being fostered in Portsmouth, VA and adopters will need to meet me in person prior to adoption. *Must be 21 or older to apply.

Story
Meet Luna, a shy but sweet 6-month-old Shepherd/Lab mix who is looking for a patient and loving family to help her come out of her shell. Luna's gentle nature and soft eyes show just how much love she has to give. While she’s still a little unsure of the world around her, she’s making great strides every day. She enjoys spending time in the safety of a calm, quiet environment where she can take her time adjusting and gaining confidence. Once she feels comfortable, she’s playful, affectionate, and loves a good belly rub. This sweet girl would thrive in an active home with understanding owners who can give her the time and training she needs to grow. She’s good with other dogs and would benefit from a friendly dog sibling who can help show her the ropes and offer her a sense of security. A home with a secure, fenced-in yard where she can explore at her own pace would be ideal. Luna is still learning about the big, wide world, but with a little time, love, and patience, she’ll blossom into a loyal, loving companion who will reward you with a bond like no other. If you’re looking for a gentle, quiet puppy to add to your family, Luna might just be the perfect match! Luna has been spayed, heartworm tested, microchipped, and is UTD on vaccines. She will come with 30 days of pet insurance, and 6 months of heartworm prevention.

Story
Meet Summer, a sweet and gentle 6 y/o German Shepherd female. She was picked up as a stray so her history isn't well known. She knows her basic commands and is quick to catch on with new training. Currently she's being fostered with a male dog of similar size and a cat. Though she's shown mild interest in the cat, she does not chase it when it runs. There's been limited interest in playing with her current foster brother, but she has played with dogs in a prior foster home. She loves to play with toys, but a ball is her absolute favorite; she'd play fetch all day if you let her. During the work day she's been staying in a kennel with some mild separation anxiety initially, but that has improved with time and moving her kennel from the bedroom to the living room. She is housebroken, with a small accident during the excitement of welcoming her people home after extended periods of time in the kennel. She is very gentle when taking treats and has displayed no obvious signs of food aggression as she allows humans near her and her food when she eats. But keep towels close to the water bowl as she tends to make some splashes as she's drinking. This girl is happy to hang out on the couch, as long as a couple play sessions are mixed in throughout the day. Summer has been spayed, is UTD on vaccines, microchipped, and heartworm tested. She will come with 6 months of heartworm prevention, and 30 days of pet insurance.

Story
Katanya went on an ExPAWdition! Let`s read all about it:`Katanya - ExpawditionHopped right into car, but because she is an 85 lb nervous Nelly she wants to be in the front so I had to tether her in the back. She was spooked by large trucks going by and anything noisy, so I kept the car calm as we headed for a long walk at Noland. For such a nervous girl she was surprisingly pretty good on the leash! She obvi needs leash training but she doesn’t go nuts…she’s not interested in squirrels which makes it easier! It didn’t seem like she’d been in water before because she timidly took 3 small steps then just kept on walking until she just stood in it, wagging her tail. I think she’d make someone a super fun waterdog as she smiled and hopped about happily when she got out.At first she was jumpy and scared with people who went by, but with positive reinforcement halfway through she would move aside and sit calmly until they passed. She was definitely curious and wanted to say hi.Whenever she got nervous in general I gave her positive corrections and she was very responsive. I think she’s very smart and could train easily. When we passed playing laughing little kids she perked right up, wagging her tail. After 5 miles she was much more settled so I let her poke her nose out the window on the drive back which she loved, enjoying the wind in her nose and all the smells. She needs someone who can help build her confidence and offer a safe somewhat calm/quiet environment while she learns she can just be a big goofy happy girl. I’d say no fireworks and construction stuff. Don’t think she’s house trained but probably good with other dogs, maybe cats too because she couldn’t care less about squirrels.`Hello, I`m Katanya. I may be a little shy at first, but once I get to know you, I promise to be the most loyal friend you`ve ever had. I`m a gentle soul, mellow and independent. I love exploring new things, my curiosity knows no bounds. I`m also smart, so teaching me new tricks will be a fun adventure for both of us. Yes, I might be a bit nervous, but with your love and patience, I`ll learn to trust again. I can`t wait to meet your whole family, I promise to be sweet to everyone (I am not too sure how I will feel about active kiddos... I find them pretty overwhelming). I`m not just looking for a home, I`m looking for a family who`ll love me for who I am. Adopt me and let`s create beautiful memories together.
