Story
To learn more about Bodey, please get in touch with his foster parent at michaelaturco@gmail.com Bodey is a vibrant, high-energy German Shepherd who embraces life with enthusiasm and a love for adventure. True to his breed, this strikingly handsome pup thrives on activity and needs both mental and physical stimulation to stay content. With his boundless zest for life and eager-to-please nature, Bodey is an incredibly intelligent and trainable dog who has already mastered several commands. Whether it's fetching a ball, going for long walks, or hiking in the woods, he is always ready for action! Despite his lively puppy-like personality, Bodey is a loyal and dedicated dog who loves to be near his people. He’s often found at your side, napping nearby or occasionally trying to curl up in your lap for some affection. Once he warms up to you, Bodey is playful and affectionate, but he doesn’t demand constant attention—he’s independent when he needs to be, but you might get a big, goofy kiss from him if he gets a little too excited! Bodey absolutely loves chew toys/tennis balls, a good nap, and especially long walks, ideally in the woods where he can explore to his heart’s content. He’s a very strong guy who’s still learning to manage his impulses and excitability, particularly when it comes to seeing other dogs while out on walks (he’s just so eager to make new doggy friends!). In the home, Bodey has made significant progress with his training and is house-trained and crate-trained, and he even puts himself to bed each night. His protective instincts make him a great companion, but he also requires an owner who understands his need for exercise and structure and can adequately provide that to him. His ideal home would be an active one with a good-sized, fully high-fenced yard for him to run around in to help burn off some of his energy. Prior experience owning a German Shepherd or a similar high-energy breed is a plus. Bodey would thrive in a patient, stable environment—one without cats—where he can continue to grow and learn. With plenty of exercise, consistent training, and the right loving home, Bodey will be the most loyal, loving companion anyone could ask for. If you’re ready to open up your heart and home to an active, adventurous dog, Bodey just might be the perfect match for you!

Story
Tessa is 8 years old and a fixed female German Shepherd. She loves to be outside either laying in the yard or on a hike. She is good with dogs although will bark while on leash. That started after our other dog passed away and we have tried numerous reactive dog training classes to have this corrected but have concluded this is just the way she is now. She also gets along with cats and children. We have recently found that our daughter is allergic and have tried multiple remedies without success. She is a great dog and we love her but she deserves more than being confined to a room with limited contact with her family. Tessa would do best in a home with a fenced in yard.

MIKEY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Come meet Mikey and other great adoptable dogs this Saturday (12/14) from 12-2 pm at Atlas Dog House in DC ((4 I St SE, Washington, DC 20003))!      Name:   Mikey        Best Guess for Breed:   German shepherd, lab and boxer mix Best Guess for Age:   5 years as of April 2024       SEX:    Male   Approximate Weight:   64 lbs   View more cute photos of Mikey here:  https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjBMXGr;    Gets Along With:    Mikey lives with other dogs of all sizes and does very well. He would do best in a home with no cats or young kids as he likes to jump to say hello and lives life to smother you with affection -- big smiles and tongue out.   Currently Living at:  DC area foster home. Check out this video of Mikey's basketball practice: https://youtu.be/j-2r-03pLLM.  Follow Mikey on Instagram at instagram.com/mikeythegoober.  Your Life with Mikey: You get home. His tail goes thump thump thump as he eagerly awaits his favorite thing in the world: You. You open his crate. He jumps out and shows you how happy he is to see you.  You change into your gym shoes and open the door to your fenced backyard. He goes out, sniffs around and does his business, then has a little romp. He sees you walk up with a basketball and he jumps around ecstatically - it’s time to play basketball! He loves basketball! You can see in those videos how much he loves it.  After a game where you think he probably could beat you if he had opposable thumbs, you two go back in. He lumbers over to his crate to chill while you whip up dinner for everyone.  After dinner is the best part. Mikey looks at you with adoring eyes as he galumphs up, turns around, and plops down on your lap. It doesn’t matter that he’s 64 pounds. In his vision of himself, he is a svelte boy no bigger than a Pomeranian, and a human lap is his destiny.  You look down at him - well, maybe up at him when he’s on your lap. And you go “Aw I love you, you big lug.” See, Mikey is one of those awesome dogs with a simple outlook on life. He loves his spot (his crate or lying on a rug at your feet). He loves running around in a fenced yard. And he loves beyond all belief - he completely adores - his humans.  Because he loves people so much and has no clue how big he is, he needs to go to a home where the humans are of an appropriate size and sturdiness to handle him happily plonking down on them. Small children and delicate individuals are not the ideal fit for an onslaught of Mikey-love. He currently lives in a foster home where there are many dogs, including a 12-pound dachshund, so it’s hard to blame him for looking at that one daintily perching on human laps and thinking “me too!” Being a simple dog, he’s also one of those with unshakable dog logic. In his case, Mikey finds wheels scary. So he prefers to run around a nice fenced backyard rather than encounter bicycles, skateboards, and other wheeled items on walks. He rides in a car just fine - it’s just those other wheels. You know. Dog logic.  Mikey is such a sweetie, such an incredibly loyal companion to his humans. Since he thrives running around a big fenced backyard, his family wouldn’t be walking him. He is also terrific in his crate and relishes being in there, so managing him while he’s in the house isn’t complicated. Giving him all the pets and rubs and scratches he demands, that’s definitely work. But the payoff is wonderful. Having a big, super affectionate, simple minded (uncomplicated) dog is an amazing experience - that true unconditional love. What do you say? Can Mikey give all he has to offer to you? Shelter staff describe Kira as a happy, bouncy girl who is excited to meet new people and explore new things. She is very treat motivated and learned 'sit' very, very fast once she realized treats were involved. She's got that German shepherd temperament where she thrives on routine and training.    She loves high-energy play with other dogs and would enjoy meeting new pup pals. She's also incredibly eager to accompany her humans on sniffy walks around the neighborhood and all the adventures they can dream up - she wants to see the world! Most of all, though, she wants to know she's safe and loved, where she belongs.    This pup is gonna grow into an awesome, smart, enthusiastic, active - and utterly loyal companion. What do you say? Will she be yours? What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once she has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with her foster. Story
Our home has changed significantly since welcoming our baby boy, and unfortunately, Cece is not suited to live in a home with young children. Just the same, Cece is incredibly loyal and playful, thriving off affection from her people. She has had extensive training—she knows commands like come, sit, down, place, heel, and more. She’s nervous around unknown guests, especially children, and can feel overwhelmed in high-stimulation environments like loud city sounds or busy streets. Despite this, Cece absolutely lights up at the dog park. She would be perfectly happy living with another dog who matches her energy and playfulness, or she’d be great as a one-on-one companion or as an addition to an adults-only household. Cece would do best with outdoor space. Cece is so loving and affectionate—she wakes us up every morning with cuddles and kisses, and we will miss her dearly. Our greatest wish is to find her a loving, stable home where she can feel safe, happy, and live her best life.

Story
❗Current Location: in a local shelter in South Korea❗• • Rescue Story : Meet Hyonie👋 the sweetest gentlest soul! Hyonie was found in a park in South Korea at four months old in March 2022 and taken to a high-risk shelter alongside her two sisters. Luckily, they were saved right before euthanasia by the rescue team. While one of her sisters is living with a foster family, Hyonie is still in the crowded shelter, awaiting her forever family. • Personality: Affectionate, Submissive, Smart Hyonie may seem a little shy at first, but she is surprisingly a BIG cuddler to people, which means that all she needs is a little bit of time to open up in the beginning. She would thrive on affection as she loves to be petted all the time! She would be a great fit if you are searching for a cuddly pup. She learns things quickly as she is a food-driven smart cookie. You will definitely find training her a part of the joyful journey with her! • With Cats: Not tested • With Dogs: Gets along well with other dogs. She’s a submissive and gentle type of dog. • With Adults/Kids: Good with adults / Unknown for kids • Housetrained: Hyonie knows how to use pee-pads even though she lives in the shelter. She may go potty indoors (pads) and outdoors both when adopted. • Shedding: 5-6 • Food Allergies: No. • Walking Manner: in training and improving! • Bathing/Brushing: Good • Bark or Howl: Barks a little bit toward strangers • Likes & Dislikes: She likes going for walks, playing with toys, and chewing stuff. / She doesn’t like being kept in confined spaces. • Note: She has had two of her toes removed due to blocked circulation of blood caused by blankets tangled around her toes. She's been fully recovered and now fine walking and jumping!
