Meet Duke. If interested in Duke, please apply online at animalfriendsva.org then go to adopt and available pets and click on Duke. Meet Duke, a special boy with a heart of gold, ready to find his perfect forever home. Despite a challenging past incident, Duke is a sweet and loving companion who deserves a chance at happiness. While he may fall under dangerous dog regulations, his affectionate nature shines through, especially when there's food involved - he's incredibly food motivated! House trained and well-mannered, Duke is a gentleman who loves to greet you with his bowl or a toy in his mouth. He may have a distaste for lawn maintenance equipment, but he makes up for it with his love for car rides and walks. While Duke prefers to be the only pet or with a very submissive dog, he's proven to be a beloved companion for a 9-year old child and adores snuggling and belly rubs. With the right home that understands his needs and respects regulations, Duke is sure to thrive and bring endless joy to his new family. Because Duke is deemed dangerous, we will arrange meet and greets cautiously and do introductions slowly. His eyes and personality melted our hearts and we are so thankful Prince William County and then Fauquier worked with us to keep this guy alive. He loves his life at Animal Friends' Pampered Paws because it is all he knows. This poor guy deserves a home though. Could that be with you? If interested, applications can be completed at animalfriendsva.org and click on the adopt tab and then available dogs and scroll down to Duke. He will need to be registered as a dangerous dog where he is adopted. If you have questions about the laws in Prince William or Fauquier, please feel free to email us at va.animalfriends@gmail.com. We look forward to hearing from you.

Story
Edgar Hi, I’m Edgar! I’m a 2.5 year old German shepherd/black mouth cur mix of a slender build, weighing in at 56 pounds. I enjoy long walks anywhere! Walks are so fun and my foster parents say I walk well with a harness! However, if we don’t have time for a walk, you can just let me out in the yard to do my business and I will come right back. I am a great listener and very obedient! Some other things I love are running around at the dog park (I get zoomies there 🤪), chew toys, bones, treats, giving side eye, and meeting new people. Actually, that brings me to what I love most— people! I’m a cuddly guy who’s always down to curl up on the couch with the humans. I’ll greet them with one of my signature hugs and give them hugs throughout the day. And don’t worry, if they’re not giving me enough pets, I’ll nudge them to let them know (never enough pets). My foster parents would describe me as a quiet guy. I’ll bark once or twice when I hear someone at the door or see the UPS truck approaching, but that’s what good guard dogs do, right? Otherwise, I’m a chill, medium-energy guy. I’m fine with other dogs once I’m introduced to them but don’t really like when they try to take my toys or play too rough with me. You could say sharing is not one of my strengths. For that reason, my foster parents think I’d do best in a home where I’m the only dog. I promise to love my new parents with all my heart and I don’t think it’ll take long for them to feel the same way (I won my foster parents over pretty quickly). I can’t wait to find my forever home!!
