Story
Meet Gromet!Gromet is a handsome 5-year-old German Shepherd with a striking sable black and tan coat and warm mocha-brown eyes. He’s a loyal companion who loves to engage with his people, always ready for a game of tug-of-war or fetch with his favorite ball.Personality and Traits:Gromet is a calm and faithful dog with medium energy levels, making him a great partner for walks or relaxing at home. He listens to commands well and enjoys being close to those he trusts. While he’s pretty chill, Gromet still loves to play and thrives when given structure and tasks to keep him mentally engaged. His trainability and intelligence shine through in everything he does, making him a rewarding dog to work with.Special Considerations:Though Gromet does well with other dogs during walks, he can be reactive to strangers and is wary of people he doesn’t know. He’ll need an experienced owner who can provide guidance and structure to help him navigate his ‘stranger danger’ tendencies. He’s also a little sensitive about his legs and tail being touched, but with patience and training, he’ll be tolerant of them in no time. Though because of this, he may not do well in a home with small children, but he’d do fine with teenagers or children that will respect his boundaries. Gromet is not a dog for first-time dog owners, but would be a good fit for someone with at least some experience and or is looking to get into the German Shepherd breedIdeal Home:Gromet would do best in a home where he has clear tasks and a dedicated person to bond with. He needs a structured environment with an owner who can continue working on his training to bring out the best in him. His loyalty and intelligence make him a wonderful companion for someone who understands his needs. Why Adopt Gromet? If you’re looking for a loyal, smart, and trainable dog with a calm temperament and a love for engaging with his people, Gromet could be your perfect match. He’s ready to find a home where he can continue to grow and be the best dog he can be!

Story
My favorite things are playing with Jolly Balls, in water and snow, and I LOVE anything that squeaks. I am extremely food and toy motivated, which makes working with me easy and I have learned several commands already. When my foster parents leave me at home I stay in my kennel or doggie area without issue, and I respect barriers like baby gates. I have never destroyed anything in the house, and I alert you when I must go outside. Clearly, I'm smart and I really love to play, but I also love belly rubs and naps throughout the day. I can be a little sensitive at times. When I see dogs on a walk or new people come into my house, I can be a bit reactive. However, with the trust and relationship we will build together this can be managed and reduced over time as I am doing so with my foster parents. I have never met a cat, but when I see them from afar my natural prey drive can kick in. My ideal home would be an active, single pet household with no small children and a fenced yard. I would do best with someone who has GSD experience who can give me the structure, training, and enrichment I need to continue to thrive. Bonus points if you love long walks, hike, jog, and live an active life that we can share together.*Qualifies for Senior-to-senior program*Qualifies for Pets for PatriotsPlease email adoptions@slco.org for more information Primary Color: Brown Secondary Color: Black Weight: 78 Age: 9yrs 2mths 2wks
