Story
Meet Cooper Cooper is a stunning and wonderful purebred 3.5 year old GSD. He came from a junk yard two years ago. He is an escape artist. He would do best with a single owner, and could use a job, sport, or some sort of work. He would excel at any assigned task. Cooper was adopted a year ago but sadly, his owner unfortunately experienced medical issues that required him to surrender Cooper back to Lincoln/Cumberland shelter. We met and assessed Cooper, who reminded me a lot of my son's retired military working dog. He will take a bit of time to warm up to a new person, but once he has, in the case of the shelter staff, he is happy and playful. We prefer an adopter to have GSD or Malinois experience. He is not a famly-type pet. Cooper needs a person who understands this type of dog and he needs. His hips look great, and we saw no concerning behaviors. Thank you for choosing rescue.

Story
This is MACON! The handsomest 2 year old male who is a very striking breed of dog and dog. Seriously, we're not sure his breed but we know he'll be a larger pup and he's wonderful. Macon was found running down the middle of the highway in Macon County, was found by some kind souls who took him in. Macon loves other dogs and kids, but he has a bit too much energy for the good Samaritans that found him. He foster sister is a 13 year old Chi that Macon is very respectful to, but the Chi is a bit cantankerous and doesn't like to share. Macon knows his manners, caught on to the basics very quickly, he knows to sit, stay and other basic commands. He absolutely LOVES toys. His fosters say he could chase a tennis ball or frisbee forever (fetch level pro) but he does very well when let inside to cuddle on the couch too. If you are interested in having this wonderful pup join your family, please let us know using this link: dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form. From there, we'll forward your application to his foster family who will be in touch. ======================================================================================== If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN RHODE ISLAND AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Our rescue pets are fostered in Southern foster homes (unless otherwise stated) and are posted for adoption once they are completely vetted and ready to travel. Our pets are adoptable in Alabama and New England States. Our adoption fee includes transport fee, spay/neuter, current vaccinations, deworming, heart worm test for animals over 7 months old, all necessary vetting and an interstate health certificate. Once an application is received, our team is happy to answer all of your questions and send additional pictures and videos. Thank you for thinking rescue!

Story
Thank you for your interest in adopting Jasmine! Jasmine lives in an Alabama Foster Home and will transport north when she is adopted. She could be in your home as early as November 21. If you adopt Jasmine, you will speak with her foster family, FaceTime, and learn more about your puppy. Jasmine is approximately 12 weeks old. She weighs 19 pounds. We consider her a German Shepherd mix. She was found stray and no one looked for her. She has not had an easy start, but her rescue hopefully makes up for that. Jasmine is happy she’s rescued. She enjoys her toys and finds security in her crate. She is highly food, motivated, which goes a long way when training. She’s good with dogs of all ages. She’s submissive and a little shy at first meeting. We think she’d be good with cats and can have her cat tested. Her coat has a darker brindle pattern that could change some. Jasmine’s adoption includes spay, rabies, multiple puppy vaccines, microchip, multiple deworming, and she receives parasite prevention. Total Adoption fee $585, includes transportation( $175) and a health certificate for travel from a licensed Vet ($65). Serious adopters should fill out the application online. Story
Boone Robinson is currently in RI and looking for a 'furever' home! Boone is a 1-year-old German Shepherd mix weighing about 58 lbs. Having spent most of his first year outside with other dogs rather than people, Boone thrives in the company of a fur friend. He is housebroken, doesn't bark, has no separation anxiety, and is not destructive. Boone does experience anxiety with new things, new people, and new noises. However, he's shown improvement with the use of a calming collar and Purina Pro Care Calming supplements. Inside the house, Boone is very low-key and prefers to stay in one spot, never needing to be crated. Boone is looking for a patient and understanding home that can provide him with the companionship he craves and help him continue to build confidence. Could you be the perfect match for Boone? Story
Bailey Robinson is currently in RI and looking for a 'furever' home! Bailey is a special lady that will slowly and quietly work her way into your heart. Having spent most of her first year living outside with minimal human interaction she is slowly learning that being inside is pretty nice and humans can be too! She needs at least one other dog and a fenced yard. She extremely shy and skittish (flight risk at first), but will open once she builds trust and feels safe, but it will take time. Bailey loves to eat and is extremely food motivated, the quickest way to her heart is peanut butter and freeze dried liver, but really any treat will do-even apples. Once she trusts you she will come to you for pets and love. She needs a very patient adopter willing to give her the time to adjust and trust, but it is well worth it. She is incredibly sweet. She will benefit from professional training to help her continue to make progress. Teens and older only, busy kids are too much for her. She'd also prefer a quieter household while she settles in, too many visitors make her nervous.
