Story
Meet Hazel! Hazel is a beautiful mixed breed pup who is approximately 7 months old. Hazel came to us when her owner was no longer able to care for her. Hazel is a friendly girl who is full of energy. Her previous owner said she has been good around children. We are suggesting older kids with her because of her exuberance. Hazel does know a few basic commands. She is eager to please and should learn new commands easily. Hazel enjoys playing in our yard and loves playing fetch. She does fairly well on a leash and enjoys going for walks. Hazel would be a great companion for an active home. She seems to do well with the other LHS dogs. If you are interested in this pretty little girl, please fill out our online application or stop in during open hours. Wednesday 6-8pm and Saturday 12-3pm.

Story
This sweet senior is Buck. Buck was an unclaimed stray at animal control. Who wouldn’t be looking for this incredible dog?? He is estimated to be about 10yrs old. Buck came to us pretty neglected. He is getting treated so he can be in tip top shape for his new family. Buck is an extremely friendly, good natured boy. He has done well with the dogs he has met here. He does like going for walks and rides in the car. Buck would make a perfect companion for a retired couple or individual. If you would like to spoil Buck and give him the life he deserves, please fill out our online application or stop in during open hours. Wednesday 6-8p and Saturday 12-3pm.

Meet Seth! Seth is a shepherd mix and is approximately 7 months old. He came to LHS from Animal Control. Whoever didn’t claim him really missed out on a great boy. Seth is a perfect dog for an outdoorsy, adventurous family. He is energetic, inquisitive, smart and just an all around fun dog. Seth loves playing with the other dogs in our yard. He would be a great companion for another dog. He would also love to have kids to play with. Seth does know a few basic commands but does need a little leash work. He does pull a little but he has been working on that with us. If you would like to give Seth a new home for Christmas, please fill out our online application or stop in during open hours. Wednesday 6-8pm or Saturday 12-6pm.

Story
Roman arrived at NCCR on 9/28/24, rescued from an overcrowded shelter that ran out of room for him. He is an approximately 2-year-old neutered male mixed breed, weighing around 60 lbs. His breed mix is thought to include German Shepherd, but he likely has several other breeds in his mix, as well. Roman reportedly gets along well with other dogs, and loves people, too. Cats are unknown to him. He is ready and waiting for a loving forever family of his own!   More info to come as we get to know him better. If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an  Adoption Application found at caninerescue.org.   *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again if you see another dog that interests you.   If you have a question, please email your question to adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day. We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in. *PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide as if they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown number or a private number calling them. NYS Registration #RR028
