Story
Hi, I'm **Arya**, a 7-year-old German Shepherd mix(?) with a beautiful brindle coat! I was recently surrendered by my previous owner, but I'm hoping to find a new forever home where I can feel safe and loved. My favorite thing to do is play fetch, especially when there's a ball launcher involved-I could chase that ball all day! I can be a little shy when meeting new people, but once I get to know you, I'll be your most loyal and loving friend. If you're patient and kind, I know we could be the perfect match. Come visit me and let's play fetch together!Complete the adoption application on our website and make your appointment to meet Arya today. We have appointments available daily except Monday. Call the shelter with questions: 609-309-5214. Primary Color: Brown Brindle Weight: 68 Age: 7yrs 3mths 1wks

ONLY APPROVED ADOPTERS MAY MEET THE AVAILABLE DOGS IN THE GSRNJ PROGRAM - WWW.GSRNJ.ORG*** Meet Zia, a 3.5 year old long-haired German Shepherd girl. Zia arrived in the USA from Iceland along with her owner. Unfortunately he fell on hard times upon arriving here. He was faced with the most difficult and devastating decision, what to do with Zia while he returned to Iceland. He was here legally and not taking Zia back with him was no fault of hers. Icelandic authorities have very strict rules on the importation of dogs into their country, even if the dog originated there. With some help from the PANYNJ, the AHS Newark shelter and GSRNJ, Zia is now in foster care. As is often the case in rescue work Zia’s journey has taken yet another turn. Our goal was to reunite her with her owner back in Iceland. Over the last few months we have been working hard to comply with the Icelandic requirements for her to re-enter the country. A few weeks ago we received approval for an expedited application. About that same time the owner decided he wanted to return to the United States. Unfortunately over the last few days everything has taken a drastic turn and Zia now finds herself looking for a new home. None of the issues are Zia’s fault. While she has been with us she has been a perfect guest. Zia is a long haired GSD that is about 3 1/2 years old. She loves to play ball and will chase the ball as long as you are willing to throw it. She also loves water and enjoys frequent dips in the pool. She is up to date on her vaccines and is spayed. She has not been around young children. She is dog aggressive so she will need to be an only dog with a handler with prior GSD experience. Also no cats for this girl. She is very affectionate and will follow her human around. She is crate trained and feels very comfortable in her crate. She has a healthy appetite, eating twice a day. If you are interested in adopting Zia please fill out an application today!

ONLY APPROVED ADOPTERS MAY MEET THE AVAILABLE DOGS IN THE GSRNJ PROGRAM - WWW.GSRNJ.ORG*** Buddy needs an immediate foster home to begin heart worm treatment! He is a 3 year old German Shepherd, not yet neutered, and is very friendly. We are looking for a foster with no other animals, no young children and a household that is relatively calm. Basically he needs a Netflix and chill lifestyle while on heart worm treatment. The rescue pays for all expenses! We just need someone to keep him calm and take care of him during recovery. Fosters always get first right of refusal if you fall in love with your foster and decide to adopt. Buddy took a little while to warm up to our testers but started giving hugs and kisses and looking for belly rubs. He was very calm but also might not have been feeling his best so with treatment, that might change. He is also missing an upper canine and has a blue tongue! He warms up to people fairly quickly, likes giving hugs and kisses, and loves belly rubs.

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING, PLEASE REVIEW OUR ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS AND COMPLETE THE ONLINE APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE TO BEGIN THE PROCESS. ONLY APPROVED ADOPTERS MAY MEET THE AVAILABLE DOGS IN THE GSRNJ PROGRAM - WWW.GSRNJ.ORG*** Teufel and Schwarz are a bonded pair of German Shepherds. Unfortunately, their owner passed away and through no fault of their own, these 2 are looking for a nice home. Both German Shepherds are very friendly and great with people, and both do well around other dogs. Teufel is incredibly sweet. She's 9 years old and has traditional black and tan Shepherd coloring. She's slow moving these days and won't be up for long hikes, but walks very well on a leash and would love to stroll her new neighborhood. She loves people and LOVES attention. She loves to play with toys and balls. Teufel could stand to lose a few pounds and is very much in need of a dental visit. Schwarz (which is German for "black") is an 8-year-old solid black male German Shepherd. He's a very youthful 8 year old with no trace of silver on his muzzle. He's a bit aloof and very curious, walks great on a leash, and is more interested in looking at his surroundings than playing with toys. He's a little anxious when he's separated from Teufel and really pulls from her confidence. A meet and greet for potential adopters with pets in the home will be required. Both dogs will do best with calm dogs since they are older. They are not good with cats. Although both dogs could in theory be adopted separately, we would love to see them go together into a new home. A family looking for laid back, chill dogs would be the perfect fit for these 2 sweet dogs.

Story
4 Females and 4 Males make up this beautiful litter of German Shepherd and Lab mix puppies. Born on June 25th, these babies didn’t ask to come into the world. They have been denied by every rescue in the south Texas area, to no fault of their own. We knew we couldn’t turn our back on them. Pip, Cleopatra, Zara, Nova, Jasper, Archie, Dodger and Bertie are some of the most calm, gentle, and such sweet, sweet babies you’ll meet. They do not have a mean bone in their body. As of 9/22 they weigh between 18-23 lbs – their dad is a pure-bred German Shepherd, and the mom is a petite (35 lbish) lab mix. We believe these pups will be around 60-65 lbs once full grown. These 8 pups LOVE to play. They love their toys, especially the tug-o-war ones! When they’re super happy, they do zoomies around the yard in pure excitement and happiness. They have been exposed to cats, and they have no issues with them. If anything, the cats bother the puppies hah. They have also met other dogs and love every doggy they meet. These 8 pups have been around elderly people since they were born, the owner of the parents is in his 70s, so they have grown up knowing not to jump, to be gentle and kind. They are VERY laid back. They are all quite submissive, and just go with the flow. They’re very curious and VERY smart. They learn quickly and are very eager to please their humans. They would thrive in almost every type of environment as they’re such good puppies. Very food motivated – they love their breakfast, lunch and dinner and come running when the bucket shakes with food. They’re obsessed with treats, and not picky at all. They’re happy with whatever you have to give them. The females are a little bit more calm than the males, but they all wag their tails when being held and we know with one on one time, they will come out of their shell and be the beautiful, glowing, sweet, SUPER kiss-giving puppies they really are. You can apply to adopt one of these beauties at www.pawsitive-impact-animal-rescue.org
