Story
Meet Sasha! Found wandering along railroad tracks with her two puppies, Sasha was heartbreakingly thin and struggling to survive. She protected her little family with everything she had, but when rescued, it was clear she was exhausted and malnourished. Fortunately, her foster mom found her and took amazing care of her! Sasha is thriving in her foster home and ready to find her forever family! Sasha is the perfect blend of playful energy and loyal companionship. This gorgeous girl is the kind of dog who’ll make every day a little brighter, whether she’s chasing after her favorite ball or curling up at your feet after a long day. Sasha absolutely lives for a good game of fetch, she could play for hours if you let her, always ready with that eager tail wag and happy grin that says, “One more throw, please!” When it’s time to relax, Sasha knows how to settle in. She’s crate trained, completely house trained, and loves nothing more than being near her people snuggled close while you watch your favorite show or unwind for the evening. She walks beautifully on a leash or harness, making her the perfect adventure buddy for anyone who enjoys strolls around the neighborhood or exploring the trails. Sasha would thrive with an active family or a young couple looking not only for a loyal companion, but also a cherished family member to join in on life’s adventures. She gets along well with other dogs but would be just as happy soaking up all the love as your one and only. In every way, Sasha is ready to be someone’s best friend, playful, loving, loyal, and full of heart. If you’re looking for a dog who will bring laughter, companionship, and endless games of fetch into your life, Sasha is waiting to meet you. Sasha is approximately 3 years old and weighs about 48 lbs. Sasha is currently being fostered in Houston, Texas but is available for transport to many locations across the country. Transport fee is included in her adoption fee.

Story
Hello! My name is Boone! Are you looking for a sports dog? I am your guy! I am a highly driven, smart dog looking for jobs to do to prove myself. My energy can be quite a lot, as I am a young dog who has previously lacked structure and commitment. But I am showing fantastic improvements with managing my excitement, and I hope to show you my best side if you meet me. I would prefer a home without other animals and children under 12 due to my sensitive nature. I have TONS of love to give and I would have even more dedication to offer to you as your partner in crime. Could we start the next chapter of our lives together? Come hang out with me soon!

Hi my name is Atticus! I am a reserved gentleman who is looking for a patient owner who is willing to give me time to adjust and open up in my new home. Once I get more comfortable, I will come out of my shell and start to show more of my true personality. I am older dog, and I am a bit set in my ways. I will need to be your animal as well as your only `baby.` No kiddos under 12 for me please! If you are interested in meeting me, please fill out an adoption survey online or in the shelter.I am currently under the care of the shelter medical team at HSHV. If you would like to learn more about me, please reach out to the Adoption Desk at (734) 662-5585.

Story
Meet Winnie – A Gentle Soul Ready to BloomWinnie is a 3-year-old, 70-pound sweetheart with a heart as soft as her eyes. Found wandering alongside another dog, she’s been nothing but kind, gentle, and loving since the moment she arrived.Since coming into our care, Winnie has continued to blossom—and even more so in her foster home. She’s currently living with one of our volunteers and has truly shown us that she is the goodest of girls. While in foster, Winnie has met men, women, and children and has done wonderfully with everyone—this girl truly does not have a stranger-danger bone in her body.Winnie thrives on gentle affection and connection. Belly rubs are still her absolute favorite, and she leans into them with the sweetest, most trusting energy. While she may still have moments of uncertainty with loud noises or sudden movements, her confidence continues to grow each day as she learns the world is a safe and happy place. She’s also been working hard on her training while in foster and is doing incredibly well. Winnie already knows sit, down, off, wait, and stay, and is currently working on leave it when passing distractions—and she’s picking it all up beautifully. She’s a smart, eager-to-please girl who truly wants to do right by her people.Winnie is still young and does have some playful, puppy-like energy, but it’s nothing that can’t be easily redirected with positive reinforcement and a little patience. She’s the perfect mix of gentle and fun, making her a wonderful fit for a variety of homes. This beautiful girl has everything it takes to be an incredible companion—loyal, loving, and ready to keep learning. With the right home, Winnie will continue to grow into the confident, joyful dog she’s meant to be.If you’re looking for a sweet, social, and smart companion who will meet you with love every single day, Winnie may be your perfect match. Come meet her—you might just be the safe haven she’s been waiting for.If you would like to meet Winnie, please submit an application for her on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. She is spayed, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and on monthly flea & tick prevention. Her adoption fee is $250, which helps cover the cost of the medical care she has received.**Please note that the breed listed for each of our dogs is a rough estimate unless DNA results are provided in their Bio.
