Story
Meet Dilly: Your New Best Friend!Hi there! I’m Dilly, and I’m on the lookout for my forever home. I`m a calm, good boy who enjoys a little playtime every now and then. I’m great at catching balls and I’m always up for a game of catch! While I’m generally laid-back, I do have a playful side that comes out when I’m having fun.I’m also a very loyal companion, and I’ll stick by your side through thick and thin. I once stayed close to a volunteer when they slipped on the ice to make sure they were okay! I’m a sweet boy who loves attention and affection, especially belly rubs and gentle pets.Just so you know, I’d would need a home without cats—I get excited and sometimes chase after them. But I’m great with dogs who have a similar temperament to mine, and I love making new doggy friends! If you think I might be the one for you, come visit me at Macomb County Animal Control during our walk-in adoption hours (Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm). My adoption fee is $100, and I can’t wait to meet you!Let’s make some memories together—I’m ready to be your loyal best friend!

Story
This is Duke!Duke is an absolutely loving German Shepherd approximately 4 years of age. He came from an extremely unfortunate situation and had not had much experience with loving, human touch or socialization with other dogs until he came to be with us. Since he has been here, he has absolutely flourished in both areas and is definitely doing well learning his manners on how to respect the space of other dogs in his presence. Duke knows how to sit but still needs a lot of fun practice learning other commands. He takes treats super nice and slow and polite, so training should be fun for EVERYONE.Duke recently discovered that he likes to play with balls, even though he didn`t know what they were before arriving here. He listens well and seems to crave the company of a human companion.Duke is Heartworm positive which means he will have a regimen of treatment that MUST be followed as instructed. After his remaining days of initial medication are complete, he will need to return to MCAC on the instructed two days for injections that will require special care during and after. Following these injections, Duke will require another regimen of medication that must be followed as instructed. After this treatment is over, you will need to be intentional about keeping up on a Heartworm preventative. It is imperative you understand and have experience with this breed. You will also need the patience and dedication to help Duke understand that people are good and caring. Duke will need a good amount of time to be able to decompress in his new home and with your help, we see him being a terrific dog for a family with older or no children. Duke cannot go to a home with cats, so if you have feline friends, feel free to browse other wonderful adoptable dogs here at Macomb County Animal Control. If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm.My adoption fee is SPONSORED!

Story
𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐉𝐚𝐬𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞/𝐉𝐚𝐳𝐳𝐲 🐾 This sweet German Shepherd (possibly a mix) is full of personality and charm. She’s incredibly funny 😂, adores forehead kisses 💋 and belly rubs, and is working hard to improve her leash skills. However, she’s not a fan of cats. Jasmine came to the rescue heartworm-positive 💔 but showed incredible strength and resilience throughout the painful treatment. We’re thrilled to share that she’s now heartworm 𝐧𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞! 🎉 To keep her healthy, she’ll need year-round heartworm prevention. Jazzy is ready to find her forever home—a place where she can experience unconditional love and truly be part of the family 🏡❤️. ▪️Loving & Silly Girl ▪️Enjoys Belly Rubs ▪️Not a Fan of Cats ▪️Working on Leash Skills ▪️Adores forehead Kisses ▪️Full of Personality and Charm ▪️Needs All Year Round Heartworm Prevention 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲: https://airtable.com/appRel0u6Xk5zFI8e/shrgRzyCwZOVjZUxp *If the link does not work copy and paste into your search bar.

Story
𝑴𝒆𝒆𝒕 𝑶𝒍𝒊𝒗𝒆! 🐾 Olive is smart, loyal, and incredibly affectionate—a true Velcro dog who adores her walks and snuggle time . Olive’s journey hasn’t been the easiest. She was found as a stray on someone’s porch, feeling unwell due to low thyroid hormone levels. Thankfully, with the right medication, Olive is now thriving and feeling much better! 💊 She’s been working hard on her crate training to overcome some separation anxiety. Thanks to her dedicated foster and a trainer, she has made remarkable progress and continues to improve every day. ❤️ Olive would do best in a home with older children, as she’s done wonderfully with 5- and 6-year-olds but feels a bit uneasy around toddlers. She’s also looking for a home where she can be the only dog, so she can soak up all the love and attention. 🐾 This resilient and loving girl is more than ready to find her forever home. 🏠 𝒞𝑜𝓊𝓁𝒹 𝓉𝒽𝒶𝓉 𝒷𝑒 𝓌𝒾𝓉𝒽 𝓎𝑜𝓊? 🥰 ▪️2.5 years old / Female 🩷 ▪️German Shepherd Mix ▪️Loyal, Smart, Affectionate ▪️Enjoys Walks & Loves Snuggles ▪️A true Velcro Dog ▪️Best with Older Children ▪️Working on Crate Training 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲: https://airtable.com/appRel0u6Xk5zFI8e/shrgRzyCwZOVjZUxp *If the link does not work, copy and paste into your search bar.

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG:https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=44, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41, EXOTICS: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=46) completely. Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 50-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 animal that you are interested in.Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other options. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.
