Story
Meet Rex 🐶💙—a resilient, affectionate boy with a heart as big as his incredible spirit! Rex was born with congenital megaesophagus, which means he needs to be fed upright in a Bailey chair so his food can safely reach his stomach. He does great with this routine and thrives on a high-quality, nutrient-dense diet, currently The Farmer’s Dog, which has been working wonderfully for him. Rex will need lifelong management, including special feeding routines, possible medications, and regular veterinary checkups to help him feel his best. While this condition may shorten his lifespan, Rex doesn’t let that dim his joy—he’s a loving, social dog who adores spending time with people, soaking up attention, and greeting each day with enthusiasm. Rex is looking for a dedicated adopter who can continue his care and give him the warm, supportive home he truly deserves 🏡❤️ ✨ Bailey chair will be sent home when adopted ✨ - Around 3 years old - Currently just under 75lbs - Good with kids, prefers a slow introduction to dogs and cats. - Adoption fee: $350 To inquire about this dog, please email dogs@adoptapetfenton.com. Include information about your family and pets, what you are looking for in a canine companion, how you plan to exercise and train this dog, and why this specific dog seems like a good fit for your family. Those who provide the previous information will be considered first for this canine. Please do NOT call our center. This will help us match you and the animal the best we can. We usually respond via email within 24-48 hours; please check your spam folder if you don't hear from us. Dog adoption fees include spay/neuter, rabies vaccine (if age-appropriate), distemper/parvo combination vaccine, leptospirosis vaccine (if age-appropriate), bordetella vaccine, deworming, heartworm test (if age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea preventative, a dental cleaning (if necessary), and a microchip. Future vaccines, tests, and treatments will be the responsibility of the adopter.

Story
Meet Gem the 3.5yr Shepherd/Husky! Unfortunately, Gem has had a terrible past. She was a victim of horrific animal abuse and has been spending the past several months healing from her injuries and trauma. Months ago, she was picked up unresponsive, starved almost to death (25lbs), anemic and unable to stand or even lift her head. She was rushed to the emergency vet, where she stayed for over a week requiring tube feeding, blood transfusions and other vital care. After months of recovery, she is now almost back to her normal happy, goofy and sweet self. We are currently in a case with her abusive owner, and we hope to see her held accountable for what she did. This has been such a heartbreaking and unimaginable case. We can’t wait for Gem to get her happy ever after! Gem is a happy, energetic and playful girl. She adores meeting new doggy friends and does great with pups of all shapes and sizes. She has had limited interactions with cats, however with proper introductions we think she would do well. At times, she can struggle with meeting new people, but with some treats she becomes everyone’s friend. Due to her past, she is working through a lot of trauma and learning how to be a dog again. She is looking for an experienced and patient family who is willing to continue building her confidence and working on gaining her manners back. Her biggest weakness is food. She must be watched closely to ensure she does not eat anything she is not supposed to. When not being watched, we highly suggest her being crated for her own safety. Unfortunately, this is a common occurrence after a dog is starved. She has already made a lot of progress in this area but still needs more time to realize she will not be starved again and that these behaviors are not necessary or acceptable. Additionally, she has been working on her house training again. She has been doing great and has not had an accident in several weeks. We do suggest that she is taken out very frequently, to keep her on the right track. Lastly, Gem can struggle with separation anxiety at times and tends to bark when she can’t be a part of what’s going on. Due to this, we do not feel like she would be a great candidate for apartment living. Gem is up to date on vaccines, spayed, HW- and microchipped. She is crate trained and listens well to basic commands. Despite all of the things she is working on relearning, Gem has a heart of gold! She is such a loyal, resilient and energetic gal. She would love to join an energetic family who can show her the love and understanding she deserves.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
I’m currently a cute, squishy baby with oversized paws and zero awareness of personal space. Don’t be fooled though—those paws are a promise. I will grow into them. Probably faster than you think. I’m searching for a human (or humans) who: Understands that “large breed puppy” means big dog energy loading… Is prepared for training, patience, and the occasional stolen sock Doesn’t mind being lovingly body-checked by 60+ pounds of enthusiasm in the near future My hobbies include: Sitting on laps that are clearly not built for me Chewing things I definitely shouldn’t Learning commands… selectively Practicing my future career as a couch-stealing professional I will need: Consistent training (because I’m cute now, but I’ll be huge later) Exercise, structure, and enrichment Someone who laughs instead of panics when I trip over my own feet If you’re ready for a loyal best friend who will grow from “adorable potato” into “majestic, slightly chaotic giant,” then congratulations—you might be my person. Apply now. I promise to love you forever and only eat some of your belongings. We do not have a facility for you to visit. You are welcome to email ccrcdogs@ccrcdogs.com with specific questions, but please complete the online application, which can be found at www.ccrcdogs.com, to secure your position in line for one of our dogs. You can also find a description of our process on that same page. Puppies will not be available to be seen until their 10-day quarantine has passed. Our adoption fees are listed on our website and cover the cost of the spay/neuter, age-appropriate shots and tests, medications to bring the dog to full health, and a free visit with one of our approved vets after adoption. Most dogs at CCRC are obtained from animal control centers so there is often very little known about their history or current habits. You can always expect to do some training, regardless of whether you adopt a dog or a puppy, including crate training, house training, and basic manners. CCRC has a variety of materials and resources to assist you with this, and we have trainers who will offer free phone/email support. December 26, 2025, 10:53 am
