Story
Meet Scooby! This stunning two-year-old shepherd is a handsome as they come! Not only is a beautiful boy, all 102 pounds of him wants to be your new best friend! Sadly, Scooby was surrendered to us due to his owner having medical issues and being unable to care for him any longer. He is understandably confused and sad, but in spite of him losing his family, he maintains his optimism of finding his true FOREVER family. You can't help but want to spend your time with this lovable boy! Not only does he have a gentle kindness about him, he aims to please. Scooby knows several commands including "sit, off, down, wait, look at me, and come". As if that weren't impressive enough, he is house-trained and crate-trained! Scooby loves to spend time outside and will need a fenced-in yard to explore at his leisure. His new family will need to keep him exercised and engaged daily! This social stud has spent time around other dogs and loves to run the fence with his fellow friends at the kennel. While at his last home, he spent time with children as well. He has a kind demeanor and tends to be on the submissive side. Looking for a copilot? Scooby loves car rides and will be happy to hit the road with you for your next adventure! Based on our evaluation, Scooby would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages eight and up. We feel Scooby has the potential to live in a home with other dogs as he does very well with them here at the kennel. We are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. Let's show him the best is yet to come! Head to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and complete an application for our sensational Scooby!

Story
Meet Peri! This tender-hearted two-year-old shepherd mix is kind as they come! If you're looking for a snuggle buddy for the cold winter ahead, all 58 pounds of Peri is ready to keep you warm! Peri is enjoying some well-deserved time in a fabulous foster home and we've learned so much about her! Not only is she house-trained and crate-trained, she's a true snuggle bug! Though timid when you first meet her, she adores her people! Her favorite pastime is cozying up on the couch and is ready to binge watch your favorite show with you. She appreciates all sorts of treats and there is no issue taking food/toys away from her. Peri gets along well with her fellow canine and feline foster siblings. She isn't currently one for playing all that much, but her laid-back manner makes for a relaxing vibe around the house. Peri would love to have a yard of her own to enjoy and will need daily exercise in her new home. She has excellent recall and aims to please. She also does very well on leash and also in the car. At the end of the day, Peri sleeps quietly through the night in her crate and doesn't even snore!! Based on our evaluation, we feel Peri would do best in an active, but predictable environment with adults or families with kids ages eight and up. We feel she has the capacity to live with both dogs and cats as she's done very well with both of them in her foster home. We are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. If Peri sounds like your kind of pal, head to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for easy-going gal!

Story
Hi there, I’m Scout! I’m a year old 45 lb German Shepherd and Cattle Dog mix, and I’m looking for a patient and loving family. I am blind in my left eye, but that doesn't slow me down much! I’m a playful pup who loves to explore. I’m also pretty smart. My foster mom even taught me some agility tricks! But I do have a bit of a mouthy side, especially when I get excited. My foster mom has been using a clicker when I get too mouthy and it’s really helping me focus better when I hear the noise. I'd love a home with someone who has experience with peppy dogs like me and is willing to work with me on my manners. I’m happiest in a calm and quiet home that is all adults or possibly older teenagers. A fenced yard would be great too, so I can run and play safely. I do like the company of other dogs. I’d prefer a doggie friend that doesn’t jump in my face. It’s hard to see who’s coming on my blind side. If you have another dog, let’s meet up and see how we do together. I'm a big fan of food and treats! A slow feeder helps to keep me from inhaling my meals. I also love toys, especially the kind that keep my mind busy and give me a tasty reward. I really enjoy playing fetch! I love belly rubs, balls, and soft toys, and I’m always up for a good cuddle. If you’re looking for a fun, spunky, and handsome young man like myself, come check me out. I might just be the perfect dog for you! If you are interested in Scout and are at least 21 years old, please fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Story
Hi there, my name is Jane! I am a 2 year old, 45 pound girl looking for a special someone to take me in and give me a loving home. I am friendly and sweet, but I can also be playful, and I love to have fun! After playtime, I love to cuddle up with my favorite people. I came to the rescue quite skinny though and acting frantic around my food. I am protective of my food bowl and will need an adopter who has the right experience and knowledge to manage this and will tightly follow a rehab plan. I am always willing to learn, and I am very intelligent, I just need someone who is willing to train me and be patient with me. I am a great listener, and I want to learn how to be a good dog for you. I will need an adult only home. If you choose to adopt me, I promise to be your loyal companion. If you are interested in Jane and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*
