Story
11\06\2024 Update: Shyla is blossoming into a sweet, intelligent, playful girl. She has a boy she pals around with. She will do great in a home with or without other pets. She can be in large packs but is more comfortable with more miniature packs. Shyla can escape from a chain link fence. A stockade fence she has not climbed. She is happy with you and can find you in the house. Hello, my name is Shyla. I am a petite German Shepherd weighing around 35 lbs (as of 10/22/2024). I am skittish, nervous, and sweeter than sugar. All I want to do is be around my people. I am dog social, leash trained, crate trained, doggy door trained, and house trained, and I love to go for car rides if I know I am safe. I was found wandering on a country road with one house close by. When my foster mom stopped for the first time, I was very nervous but oh so hungry. The lady came out of the trailer and asked if my foster mom wanted me; I was a stray. So, for the next two days, she stopped by three times daily, feeding me McDonald's cheeseburgers and nuggets. Finally, at dinnertime the next day, she had me. The rest is history. I am scheduled to be spayed next week and will be ready for my home. My ideal home will be patient, work from home, or retired, with or without another pet. I have not been around any children, and my foster mom said older children would be best because loud, sudden movements make me nervous. My favorite things to do with you are going on walks looking at the leaves, sitting (snuggling) on the couch in front of the fireplace watching a movie, gardening in the backyard with you, sit with you. At the same time, you work, go for car rides, bark when I have something to say, get kisses on my nose, and rub my ears softly. Please send an email to alittlelonger2home@gmail.com and request an application. Fill out the application, including the three email addresses for your references. The references cannot be related to you. After the application is complete, the refundable deposit ($200) is next. The deposit is an indication of your intention of adopting Shyla. The first person to submit the application and deposit is the first person to be considered for the adoption of Shyla. We also remove her from the Adopt a Pet and Petfinder sites with your name reserving her. We accept Venmo @carla-carlton-1, Cashapp $carlrescue, Zelle 501-247-4186, and PayPal glennandcarla@g5i.net for the refundable deposit. Story
Trudy is an adorable GSD mix breed pup. She has the softest most beautiful coat. About 8-9 months old, 33 pounds. She was a stray all alone at the shelter in the spring when a wonderful foster home saved her from the euthanasia line. She waited patiently for a rescue to tag her and we just couldn't resist when we saw her. She loves other dogs, plays so well with her blind, deaf senior foster sister and gets very happy and wiggles like crazy when she sees kids. Trudy is getting better every day with her puppy manners. Does require a confident, active owner to continue to support her in her journey to being the best girl. She is being fostered locally. If you would like to be considered to adopt TRUDY go to our website and fill out an application. www.sunnypawsrescue.org. Thank you for choosing rescue! *******for GENERAL inquiries only use our email, info@sunnypawsrescue.org PLEASE do not use the email just to inform us you are interested in applying.*******

Story
Meet Junior- a sweet, playful, and funny shepherd mix who has the most beautiful brownish-red coat and a happy clownish behavior.Junior’s owner past away unexpectedly and he needed to be rehomed quickly. This boy loves having human attention; will follow you everywhere. He enjoys giving and receiving kisses andlikes to nibble on your hands and feet. However, foster mom is working on him being a bit gentler with it.Junior absolutely loves to play with other dogs. His play style is both gentle and rough. When he plays with dogs he plays according to the vibe of the other dog. He can lay down and play gentle, or he can run around and tackle. He can be a couch potato too!!He is good with children and rides well in the car.He is learning basic commands and will sit automatically when he gets a treat, taking it so gently. Since he was without food for some time after his owners passing, he gets so excited and dances all around when the food bowl comes out. and then runs into his kennel when its time to eat. He does not have any food aggression towards humans or animals. However, he does try to push the other dogs away from their bowls when he is finished, so best to keep him separated until everyone is done.  Junior sleeps very well at night. He lays on his bed and doesn't want to start his day too early. He has not chewed anything in the house. He is housetrained and can be trusted in the house not to chew anything that he should not.Leash training is in process. He is still very skittish with loud noises and fast unexpected movements. New people coming in the house initially scare him, but he has made big improvements in the weeks he has been at his foster home.If you're searching for a handsome, happy, affectionate, and well-behaved companion, Junior might just be the perfect match for you.Name: JuniorBreed: German Shepherd Dog/CrossbreedSex: MaleAge: 2 years  (estimated)Weight: 53.0Spayed/Neutered: NoVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Positive on recent testing. Story
Natasha is a 2 year old, 50 lbs girl. She is friendly and submissive with all dogs. We are unsure about how she reacts with cats but we can cat-test her if necessary. Her foster mom says that she is good in a crate and loves her bed and blanket. Foster mom hasn’t noticed her ripping nor chewing on anything except for her chew toys. She needs training with the leash. Initially, she would bite on it and cy a little but now, she can withstand being leashed. However, she still needs to gain more confidence when walking with it. The good thing is that she can be picked up easily. Natasha is potty-trained and hasn’t had any accidents inside her crate and home. Natasha is described as a “couch-potato.” She doesn’t do much inside the house except for laying on her bed and acting like a big baby. She will start rubbing her body if you pet her and will ask for more attention. She is really docile and sweet. Natasha is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed. (puppies under the age of 6 months may not be sterilized prior to adoption, if this is the case your adoption coordinator will discuss the process with you). To adopt or learn more about: you must fill out an adoption application. To find the application, visit our website: WWW.SANDYPAWSRESCUE.COM ** PLEASE READ: If a dog/puppy is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. In some cases this dog may be pending an adoption already, and their profile has not been updated yet. Please note, SPR does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated otherwise. All breeds listed are educated best estimates by transferring shelter staff, our volunteers or our vets. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them the All American MUTT. Our dogs are rescued from various situations (kill-shelters, owner surrenders, strays, etc). It is most likely that both their parents were strays and mixes of some sort. If you are interested in this dog, you MUST submit an application. Sandy Paws Rescue does not a have a public shelter in Mass, so there is no building you can visit without an appointment. Our dogs live in private foster homes or boarding kennels down south until adopted, and foster care homes through out MV, Cape Cod and other parts of MA. A majority of our dogs are adopted/spoken for prior to transport and release from state mandated isolation. To learn more about our rescue, adoption fees, and procedures, review the list of FAQ’s on our website at WWW.SANDYPAWSRESCUE.COM **The FIRST step in adopting an animal from our rescue is to submit a completed adoption application.
